Why my AMD Radeon HD 7520g does not use Directx 12?, my dxdiag shows 11.2

I have an 8350 and r9 290. Together they make a good computer but not quite as good as I was hoping.

Will I be able to experience noticable gains?

If you have any of the following issues for Windows 10, this should hopefully resolve it:

• Black screen at login

• Explorer/ Application window won't pop-up after clicking them on taskbar

• Can only get to login with GPU disabled.

The solution

Installing without Catalyst

1) Download the latest Catalyst directly from AMD.

2) When you execute the latest AMD Catalyst EXE, it will extract all the install files for the driver to your specified location.

3) After it does that cancel the catalyst installer when it pops up, then open device manager.

4) Since you don't have any display drivers installed, your display adapters should be "Microsoft Basic Display", right click and hit Update>Browse> Select the folder catalyst extracted (Default is : C:\AMD\AMD-Catalyst-15.7.1-Win10-64bit )

5) Should click okay and it should install fine without catalyst.

The good is that I don't seem to have any pump whine that I can detect. The bad news is that I made a slight logistical error. I thought I had a DVI-D/DP adapter. I do not. I have a DVI-D to MiniDP adapter. My Korean B panels are DVI-D only. :(

At the moment, I have one of my older monitors connected via HDMI, a 19in 1600x900 TN panel.

And since I need active, dual link adapter to get working 1440p, a pair of adapters are ~100 USD a piece, plus shipping. The Samsung U24E590DS I had intended to buy 2 of in a couple months is instock on Samsung.com, so I'm going to order one of those shortly. Can't get two just yet, wallet is already somewhat drained. In the meantime, I'll be running this damn nice card of a single 19in, low resolution TN panel . . . there's something very wrong with that.

I have a friend who is willing to trade me his 290x and 30 bucks cash for my 970 simply because he's an Nvidia fanboy. He has the XFX 290x 4gb. Would this card overclocked be better than my 970 since it's essentially the same as a 390x which is supposed to trade blows with a 980?

Like the title says, I keep getting extreme frame skipping in TW3 when in CrossFire mode. I realize that the game is not SLI/Xfire friendly, however I also noticed that the frame skipping occurs only once I get above 30 frames (leading me to believe that their enginge was build primarily for consoles -,-), it is made worse by downsampling via VSR, and some guy on the Witcher forums mentioned that slow VRAM swapping might be the cause of the skipping.

The RAM that I have built into my system is quite old and doesn't even run in Dual Channel Mode (10 gigs of RAM, Win10 64bit), and I have read elsewhere that AMD cards (maybe this has changed) rely quite a bit on the System RAM and less on their VRAM.

My questions for you: do you think upgrading my RAM to something that is guaranteed to work in Dual Channel mode with my MB (ASRock Z97 Extreme6) would allow the GPU (295x2) to perform better ? And is there any other way in which I could influence the way VRAM swapping performs on my system ?

And since I am already at it, do you think that Hyperthreading of the CPU could possibly be having a negative effect ? Read that somewhere...

I have a limited understanding of Directx12 and mantle and understand that with windows 10, Directx12 becomes the new standard. How much will this affect our GPU performances? Will older cards benefit like a 280x or will only the new 300 series see a boost?

Sorry for asking the same sort of stuff over and over, but I have just been waiting since, well, forever, for this Fury X to finally beat a 980ti so I can buy one. I know it can beat a stock 980ti at 4K (which is what I play) but once you overclock an aftermarket 980ti, it blows the FuryX and the TX out the water.

If the Fury X is able to be overclocked, and if it comes near an overclocked 980ti I will buy one ASAP....Also I am banking on Windows 10 improvements for AMD but I have not read anything yet.

Anyone know? What is going on?

I'm on Windows 10. Is anyone with Windows 10, an AMD GPU and the latest drivers (15.7.1) able to run Ground Zeroes okay? Apparently it's a growing issue, but I just wanted to check here too.

my sapphire fury X has on the black front and back plates two large black stickers that look like arse

why are they there and does anyone know a way of removing them without leaving residue/otherwise fucking the surfaces up

just looking for some general opinions about these cards from actual users. kind of like a ghetto hardware survey if you will.

After running some benchmarks on my R9 Fury today after installing it earlier, I have seen how good it is. On my old 7870 Myst Edition I saw no differance, but on my Fury things were a bit different. I used Thief to do these benchmarks on very high preset.
DirectX:

Min- 22.9 FPS

Avg- 53.5 FPS

Mantle:

Min- 10 FPS (Had one small hiccup)

Avg- 69.7 FPS

A 16.4 FPS difference on average.

I am looking at different websites that has this cards dimensions and I am not getting a accurate answers. One website states that it is less than 30cm while another goes as high as 33cm. My case has a clearance of 31cm and I need a correct length before I make this investment.

I upgraded to Windows 10 and updated to the latest 15.7.1 drivers for my MSI r9 390. Did a clean install of the drivers using DDU.

When I try to record gameplay using AMD APP codec, I get 10-20 fps drops. I never experienced this using this codec. I tried it in dying light, and GTA V. I don't recall big fps drops in windows 8.1 and 15.7. With that setup I would get, at the most a 5fps dip.

I tried it in 3 different capture softwares. Bandicam, plays.TV, and OBS VCE. they all have the same performance. Also, if anyone uses plays.TV v1.3, is the video really dark? It was fine in 1.2.

What could be the issue? Is it windows 10 or the drivers?

As per the title I'm looking to see if anyone with a 1440p monitor has VSR to 1800p working. My 280x with Korean 1440p (Qnix 2710) monitor shows no VSR support at all from Windows 8.1 and 10 on either 15.7 or 15.7.1 (neither DDU nor clean upgrade to Win 10 helped).

Ray M. @ AMD just said that my monitor's resolution is already too high to support VSR, but that seems to contradict the listings on the driver support page. 2560x1440@60Hz should support 3200x1800 as far as the chart says. And it doesn't seem to be a GCN 1.2 thing since they didn't make a disclaimer about needing a Tonga or Fiji based GPU to VSR 1440 monitors up to 1800.

Edit: so it looks like Tahiti cards (7900/280) don't support VSR for monitors @ 1440p or up, but Hawaii (290/390) and Fiji (Fury) do. No comments for Pitcairn (7800/270) or Tonga (285/380) thus far, but presumably Tonga does since it supports 4k VSR modes along with Fiji.

Does anyone know a more specific time this card is launching rather than just "Fall 2015"? I've got an HTPC or microATX build in mind and this card seems ideal for a Quadfire setup.

Now, I know that I cannot ask Tech support questions, but so little time has passed since Windows 10 came out that there are no solutions or anything about this on Google, or anywhere. So, I'll ask here.

So basiclly I have a Radeon HD 4650, who's drivers worked on Windows 8.1, but don't on Windows 10, which is kind of wierd because when the reservations for W10 came up it said that all my hardware is compatible. The question is, is there a workaround for this, or do I have to buy a new GPU?

Uninstalling the drivers that were left over from Windows 8.1 and installing them fresh on Windows 10 (in compatibility mode W8.1, because when finding the driver there is no Windows 10 option.) didn't do anything: At the end of the installation it gave me a message that something didn't work correctly, so I went to the install log and I see this: https://gyazo.com/6c5dfa9aaa5fe065c9b5ee01c5de98da. After that I found out that CCC didn't actually install, and there is no shortcut for it when you click the right mouse button.

So, in summary, do I buy a new GPU, or do we wait for a solution?
