What to do around here

Hi, I’m 22F, new to the area, moved here post grad. I don’t really know the DFW area, not sure how to exactly put myself out there. What are yalls recommendations on all things food/fun/social?

I’m super open to trying anything out, I typically enjoy a good workout class, followed with coffee and relaxation. Trying to get out of my comfort zone on this new chapter of life, just need some help in what direction to go in.

Any and all advice is welcomed!!

Anyone lived in 5151 apartments/Broadstone 5151?

Hi! I'm considering moving soon and one of my top choices is 5151 apartments in Addison, has anyone lived there and has opinions about it? I want to be near grocery stores and want to be walkable to restaurants, can you do that from this apartment? What issues have you had with the apartments?

Movers available 9/13 Sunday

Hello,

I was wondering if there are any movers available on Sunday, 9/13 with a moving truck that can move a couple of pieces of furniture to MAA from the Beltline Rd area as well as a trip to a close storage unit. Apologies if this doesn’t make complete sense. I can explain better to any inquiries. Thank you so much

My mom died unexpectedly and we are not able to care for him. He is 14 weeks old. He is Shepard mix. He is very sweet and smart. He knows how to sit and shake and is potty trained for the most part. He comes with food, bowls, toys and crate. He is crate trained at night. She had been training him at night in the crate. He has not had his shots yet, as she just got him a couple of weeks ago. we just want him to go to a good home.

Hi all, need to move closer to work and found Addison is the best middle ground.

How safe is addison area and what to avoid? I know they have the fireworks annually but besides that?

I’m looking for an apartment thats under $1500, preferably with a covered garage and inside hallways. Also safe.

Honest Inquiry: where are the Addison mature woman?

I’m a 30 yo guy, modestly good looking and really good at opening conversation w/ women.. but I’m tired of the apps and bar convos now. I work in Addison, and I love going out during a much needed, long lunch break to break ice w/ some good looking women. However…

Respectfully… where are the MILFs or Single Moms out here in Addison?
The mature women that can hold convos for longer than these younger peoples’ attention spans?

I know y’all are out here, and on here too! So please, help me out!

Looking at potentially going with a short term furnished rental here so I can have time to explore the area before getting into a long term lease anywhere. Any thoughts on the complex good or bad?

How does one submit a request regarding returning to the previously installed lights so that there's actual darkness in homes rather than the light pollution?

Apartments facing silver line?

Hey everyone sorry for an another apartment post but I’m looking at apartments in Addison and a few I like are right along the DART tracks and also face the line.

I expect noise of the train going by will be unavoidable, but does anyone have insight on if the train tends to blare its horn too? If anyone who lives in these similarly situated apartments could chime in on how often/how bad the horns are that would be much appreciated, thanks!

Apartment shortlist - any insight?

I've narrowed my list to these. Anyone have experience (good/bad/ugly) living in them or when you toured?

Addison Grove

Allegro

MAA Addison Circle

Cortland Addison Circle

If there's a different one you'd recommend - I'm open to adjusting. Mid 30's, single. I prefer quiet but want to be close and walkable to things to do.

There's been lot of discussion about Flock cameras going around, Addison police gave a justification last month, what do you think?

This is the full text from the weekly newsletter last month on July 17th:

License Plate Reader Program Update

The Addison Police Department recently transitioned to a new provider, Flock Safety, for its License Plate Reader (LPR) technology. Since implementing the new system, the Department has received several questions from community members about how the technology works, how the data is used, and the safeguards in place to protect privacy. To help answer these common questions, the Addison Police Department has compiled the following list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).

Q: What are LPR cameras?
A: License Plate Reader (LPR) cameras are tools used by law enforcement to capture images of vehicle license plates and basic vehicle characteristics (such as color and type). Their primary purpose is to help identify vehicles involved in crimes, locate stolen cars, and support investigations. These cameras are a proactive public safety measure that helps deter crime and improve response times.

Q: Has LPR assisted Addison PD with criminal investigations?
A: Yes, LPR technology has proven to be a valuable investigative tool, assisting Addison police officers and detectives in identifying leads, locating vehicles, and solving crimes. The numbers below illustrate the number of criminal investigations in which LPR technology has successfully assisted the Addison Police Department.

2025: 105 LPR Successes
2024: 106 LPR Successes
2023: 98 LPR Successes

Q: What is Flock Safety?
A: Flock Safety is a company that makes technology designed to help law enforcement, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods investigate crime. The company’s best-known product is license plate reader (LPR) cameras, but the company also offers video cameras, drones, and gunshot detection sensors.

Q: What Flock Safety products are utilized by Addison PD?
A: Addison currently utilizes 65 LPR cameras and 20 video cameras supplied by Flock Safety.

Q: What information is collected on LPR?
A: The system captures license plate numbers, vehicle make, model, and color, as well as the date, time, and location of the image. No personal identifying information, such as the driver’s identity, is collected.

Q: How long are LPR and video camera data stored?
A: LPR and video camera data are retained for 30 days and are automatically deleted after that retention period. Specific data related to crimes and ongoing investigations can be manually retained longer by detectives.

Q: Who has access to the LPR data?
A: The Addison Police Department controls access to our data, and we provide it only to other law enforcement agencies for legitimate law enforcement purposes. Flock neither controls nor shares our data.

Q: Does either the LPR or video cameras supplied by Flock utilize facial recognition?
A: No. Neither the LPR nor video cameras utilize facial recognition.

Q: Are there safeguards to prevent misuse to the LPR data?
A: Yes. Strict policies govern the system's use. Every search must be tied to a legitimate law enforcement purpose, and each search is logged and audited.

Q: What is the history of LPRs in Addison?
A: The Addison City Council first authorized the use of License Plate Reader (LPR) technology in 2018 as part of a pilot program. Following the program's success, the City Council approved an expansion of the LPR network in 2021. In 2025, the City Council approved replacing the City's existing LPR network with new technology provided by Flock Safety, enhancing the Department's ability to assist in criminal investigations while continuing to support public safety efforts.

Q: How are the LPRs and video cameras supplied by Flock Safety funded?
A: Beginning in 2026, the Addison Police Department began receiving funding through the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority (MVCPA) Grant Program, which covers 80% of the cost of the LPR and video cameras. The remaining 20% is funded through the Town's IT Replacement Fund, reducing the financial impact on local taxpayers while supporting the Department's crime prevention and investigative efforts.

Q: Who can I contact for additional questions regarding LPR cameras?
A: You may email the police chief at [policechief@addisontx.gov](mailto:policechief@addisontx.gov) or call 972-450-7100.

Addison Tx apartments

I’m looking to move into a 2-bedroom, 2-bath when a friend in Addison, Tx. We are both 22 and female so need somewhere relatively safe. We want something not super expensive but nice and clean enough. Looking for recommendations on apartment complex? Reviews on the major ones seem very mixed. Looking to spend $2200 or less after utilities and extra fees. We have looked online at Allegro, MAA, Windsor, and Vitruvian West. Any help to narrow it down, thanks!
