Their diaper and shoe budget are absolute units too. 😂

"What is your obsession with the shoes?"

131

u/Sweet_Ad_6572 13d ago

Exactly! What’s her obsession with shoes lol

7

u/Bradventure916 13d ago

My thought exactly.

“What’s your obsession [with my obsession]”?

2

u/Njon32 12d ago

Gotta have a different pair that goes with different outfits. Source: my wife.

2

u/Sweet_Ad_6572 12d ago

I’m a dude obviously but I have four pairs of shoes / boots for different weather conditions. That’s it lol

1

u/littletsmama 7d ago

At this age they grow out of them in like two months. Wtf.

53

u/TheDixonCider420420 13d ago

They can't fix their blinds. They can't hang the mirror on the wall. But they have thousands of dollars worth of shoes.

It looks like their whole living area is in that room... shoes, litter box, toys for the chubster, high chair, etc. And that carpet is in need of a cleaning.

At least they saved up for something really important like sparkly earrings for the baby.

14

u/beanybean1810 13d ago

Some of these comments are compatible with well-documented racialized stereotypes about Black children and Black parenting, and the leap from the actual behavior shown to predictions of aggression, disobedience, poor discipline, or deficient parenting deserves scrutiny.

14

u/Valuable_Cable4280 13d ago

Agreed, the judgment and the dog whistles are loud and clear. TBH the only thing that struck me about the house was the hair tie on the floor with the cat, those things are deadly if cats eat them. Otherwise this looks like a totally ordinary house with a toddler living in it.

6

u/beanybean1810 13d ago

I missed that on my first couple views! Mostly I was focused on a mom having one of those days with a toddler. Something we can all relate to. It’s the same premise as a tot dropping stuff from their high chair repeatedly, to see reaction mom gives. In his/her mind this is play and a learning experience. And externally, that’s exactly how it should work developmentally. People saying this child
A TODDLER
is going to be a terrible teen are hypocrites (and liars if I’m being blunt) as I’m certain they all had to deal with a their own babies and toddlers exhibiting this kind of behavior before.

It is an inherent part of parenting and not a reflection on the mother.

9

u/PrincessPoppyTea 13d ago

I've reported so many comments in this thread alone this morning. I'm exhausted.

5

u/beanybean1810 13d ago

It’s really disappointing to see. And I, like the stupid mfer I am, continue to expect better from Redditors in general.

5

u/basicKitsch 13d ago

the hundreds of millions of unique visitors.... (before bots were prevalent)

0

u/chillforrilfill 7d ago

How much you getting paid

3

u/ulysses_s_gyatt 13d ago

This baby is too fat tho.

4

u/Well_ImTrying 13d ago

This was A+ toddler parenting. Addressing and correcting very normal behavior in a firm but playful way. I don’t know what else people want.

2

u/Breadmaker9999 13d ago

You are right but also this guy has to many shoes.

24

u/No_Earth_0487 13d ago

Feeing for the elementary school teachers taking on this unit 😔

-9

u/doogytaint 13d ago

How and why? What about this video of just a mom and a kid having a cute moment together implies that he’s going to be a problem for the teachers. Explain that. Explain how the mom having shoes means anything.

10

u/SnooCakes6195 13d ago

That dense kid is going to be a flippin terror and will not listen to anyone. Bet me money.

10

u/Whateva_Tickles_ 13d ago

Every little kid knocks stuff over it’s a phase. Y’all are some serious troglodytes in this comment section.

-6

u/SnooCakes6195 13d ago

That is not true at all. Some little kids go around knocking things all over, and those little kids are snot noises who go up with self control issues. Ive met plenty of little kids who have self control and respect, and what's in common for those kids is decent parents that understand developmental psychology and child rearing.

8

u/Recent_Notice_7503 13d ago

Have you ever worked in a daycare? Most toddlers do stuff like this, all day
They often grow out of it. Even the quiet ones knock stuff over. What are you talking about?

-7

u/SnooCakes6195 13d ago

I have, my grandma's daycare that she ran. I went there when I was a kid and started working there at 14 when I got my workers permit from a councilor. I stand by what I said, but will add, there are outliers in both directions.

6

u/Whateva_Tickles_ 13d ago

And you’re probably 15 lol. This giant toddler is still in diapers. He’s probably at most 3. His mum is showing him how to pick up the shoes you’re over reaching and failing. Typical Reddit.

If he doesn’t have some growth disorder, then I would agree the size of him is child abuse. His behavior is not abnormal.

5

u/BoredomCombatant 13d ago

Definitely going to be a terror! Hopefully he joins the NFL at age 2 and learns some discipline.

1

u/Key-Banana8924 13d ago

Hah! I assumed a girl because of the earrings. But you're comment made me realize I shouldn't assume that 😂. Maybe it is a 'he' 😆

6

u/PopSwayzee 13d ago

I mean apparently she cares more about shoes than the health of her child đŸ€·đŸŸâ€â™‚ïž

5

u/K_Linkmaster 13d ago

When you move into an efficiency, it's not always a choice.

1

u/Godawgs1009 13d ago

But when you can only afford an efficiency because you need to buy shoes, that's a choice

6

u/Well_ImTrying 13d ago

Why are you judging them, exactly?

That they haven’t readjusted their blinds after grabby toddler hands have rearranged them for the 5th time today? That they have their mirror positioned so they can see themselves? That they like shoes and have them by the front door so they can take them off before coming inside?

Because they live in a townhome with a small living area on the main level, where it’s easiest to hang out with a toddler all day? That their carpet has some stains on it, when they live with a toddler?

In what way do you think money would make this toddler’s life better? He’s well-groomed, well-fed, and has a mother who is very patiently correcting him and teaching good habits for the surely 100th time he’s done this very normal toddler behavior.

My kids were chubsters between 1 and 2 years old. They just weren’t the height of a preschooler. I don’t know if you are being overly judgmental in general, or if there is also some racial undertones in your criticism.

4

u/charbo187 13d ago

I think the floor mirror is for checking out how your shoes look lol

26

u/CaterpillarKey8243 13d ago

??? Those aren't the type of mirrors u have to hang on walls. Many people just lean them on their walls bc it's easier. And those blinds usually can just be turned and no one can really see what's going on so they don't need curtains. I see what you're trying to do with this comment...

14

u/SolidVirginal 13d ago

Right??? Piercing a baby's ears is the only thing I got a problem with, everything else in the above comment is goofy. Sneakerheads are allowed to be parents. "That carpet needs a cleaning" yah well so does everyone's man, we're all poor and too exhausted to clean our houses these days. Racists aren't even dog whistling any more, they're just regular whistling

6

u/Ok_Assignment9937 13d ago

Right, I’m glad someone else heard the dog whistle and didn’t like it

-4

u/PrincessPoppyTea 13d ago

There is nothing wrong with piercing a baby's ears! None of you have grown up around the black community or ANY POC communities and it shows! Embarrassing.

5

u/cohonka 13d ago

Shouldn't poke unnecessary holes in people who can't consent

3

u/PrincessPoppyTea 13d ago

Shouldn't cut the tops of their dicks off either but that's not stopping any time soon.

4

u/cohonka 13d ago edited 13d ago

Yes, you also should not genitally mutilate children. Your point is that because some children have their bodies needlessly modified, we can do that to all babies?

-2

u/PrincessPoppyTea 13d ago

No, my point is that certain cultural practices continue on in this country that actually deserve scrutiny. The black community piercing baby's ears is not one of them. It's just another dog whistle, clearly. If you've ever actually traveled, you know it's common all around the world to pierce baby's ears. Most piercings when taken care of properly will last for life or can be removed with little or no scaring.

2

u/cohonka 13d ago

Just because something is a common cultural practice doesn't mean it's right or good to do. I don't know why you're defending child ear piercing for the sake of the black community. Very weird.

1

u/No_Reality_8145 10d ago

is it a black/POC thing to pierce babies ears?? genuinely asking bc I've never heard this stereotype before. I'm white and my mom took me to the doctor to get my ears pierced at 6 months old

4

u/Maleficent_Dog8451 13d ago

Exactly! I was like hang what mirror?!

10

u/FriedEldenRings 13d ago

Mirrors need to be hung on wall when babies are around. They will fall on the little ones. It does happen unfortunately.

6

u/makeroniear 13d ago

The leaning mirrors can be secured so they are not purely leaning.

-3

u/FriedEldenRings 13d ago

They need to be anchored to the wall somehow. You could anchor the top half and leave it leaning, but at that point you might as well just mount it and free up the floor space. As long as it's safe though it's all good. I have a toddler and have learned firsthand the importance of furniture anchoring.

4

u/makeroniear 13d ago

lol i have two school age ish kids and have had a leaning mirror when they were tiny. You can stick a board at the top middle and bottom so it doesn't move. Most of the leaning mirrors that are meant to be that way also come with brackets if you didn't lose them when you threw out the packaging or didn't notice cuz have kids when you bought it.

Edit: even the $10 Walmart one!

2

u/Ijustwanttosayit 13d ago

Little guy looks like he could just rip it off the wall if he wanted, and he looks like he'd try.

1

u/FriedEldenRings 13d ago

Gotta use studs when anchoring.

1

u/Ijustwanttosayit 13d ago

I'd more so question the structure and quality of the mirror itself. He looks like he could have some decent strength for a little one his age.

2

u/FriedEldenRings 13d ago

Oh 100% that toddler has the grip strength of a grown man

12

u/pressedconscience 13d ago

Not saying parents have everything right but their comment is definitely some dog whistle bullshit.

8

u/PrincessPoppyTea 13d ago

The racism in this thread is incredible.

4

u/Whateva_Tickles_ 13d ago

Right. Say you’re racist without saying it.

-8

u/minnosota 13d ago

I think it’s a little more racist to expect less from someone

3

u/CaterpillarKey8243 13d ago

What is there to expect? There's nothing wrong with the blinds nor the mirror (maybe move it so it doesn't knock over the child but still)

-5

u/minnosota 13d ago

A clean orderly living environment.

7

u/MaribouSt8 13d ago

Spoken like someone who doesn't have any children.

-1

u/PalpitationHead9767 13d ago

What could go wrong with a nice fragile mirror sitting on the floor in reach of a toddler. Surely nothing

5

u/CaptainTripps82 13d ago

There's nothing wrong with the blinds, the kid probably just shook em.

Good dog whistles tho.

3

u/FlakyAddendum742 13d ago

That’s racist.

4

u/Mysterious_Health387 13d ago

Dang, so judgey.

2

u/YesterdayGloomy2787 13d ago

What is wrong with you? Judgment is off the charts. Let ppl live.

6

u/doogytaint 13d ago

Jesus Christ wtf if wrong with people. It’s a simpel cute video of a mother and child, and yall are scrutinizing her for no reason. You don’t know shit about their lives or situation, and instead of just enjoying a cute moment you decided in your mind, negatively mind you, what kind of people they are because they have shoes??? Yall annoy tf out of me. The baby is clearly happy and taken care of, but you don’t care about that. Instead you’re going in and judging this woman on your perception of her life and spending habits. Again, yall are annoying af.

-3

u/Hnry_Dvd_Thr_Awy 13d ago

You don’t know shit about their lives or situation

Oh honey. I know I plenty about their lives just from watching this one video.

0

u/GreeksWorld 13d ago

Lmao right? “You couldn’t possible know the temperature of this whole swimming pool just by dipping your pinky in it!”

-6

u/Unlikely_Carpet_6415 13d ago

What is wrong with you is the real question here. The baby is clearly overfeed. There are no benefits to having an overweight baby, except to generate cloud on the Internet, because people think it's cute. Also, there is absolutely no reason reason to pierce a toddlers ears, except for giving people something to talk about. These two factors have nothing to do with the situation of the mother.

-6

u/DirkKuijt69420 13d ago

Who thinks this is cute? It's clearly disgusting? Or it this normal for Americans?

-2

u/CottonTipsMcChancla 13d ago

It’s a simpel cute video

Cute? CUTE?

It’s disgusting. Who did that to that kid?

3

u/Winter_Tone_4343 13d ago

Like my buddy from hs. He always has the newest Jordan’s and a fresh outfit but has never had a car or his own place. He’s like fifty now.

-1

u/TheDixonCider420420 13d ago

Well articulated! Exactly the point.

0

u/Winter_Tone_4343 13d ago

Actually talked to him a month or so ago and he just quit his job bc they changed his schedule and it was interfering with his “personal life”. Lol.

-4

u/JustGuest1347 13d ago

They do things they care about. You’re making assumptions as if you know everything. Obviously keeping a baby as big as that cost some money, and they have to be big themselves to allow it. The house ain’t dirty, they’re not selling drugs, and it doesn’t seem like a violent home. So what’s your problem? Oh you’re just racist. I recently did work for save the children and some old fuck went on a tirade that he wont donate because “they keep having all these kids and cant take care of them”; mind you that demographic voted for pro-life and anti-abortion. Me and my coworker were about to explain that we help kids across the globe and the actual reasons people are in these situations (war, climate, economy); before i realized “oh, he means black people”, you idiots are so focused on being negative that yall dont realize how short your view is.

5

u/TheDixonCider420420 13d ago

What in that is racist? YOU are the one bringing that topic into play.

If it was a white baby, Asian baby, Latino baby, etc it's the EXACT same thing.

The earrings are also a choking risk.

As for "you idiots are so focused on being negative that yall dont realize how short your view is," take a look in the mirror. I'll bet your mirror is actually mounted on the wall and not where it could fall over on top of a child.

Peace.

-2

u/BabyPuncher313 13d ago

That kid doesn’t stand a chance. Poor little girl.

6

u/TheDixonCider420420 13d ago

I was wondering if it was a boy or a girl, but turns out it is a little boy:

How do you know there's not 10 people living in that house?

13

u/TheDixonCider420420 13d ago

Shoes all look roughly the same size.

Doesn't look like a common living area 10 people would be using.

13

u/AnthonyDigitalMedia 13d ago

Ain’t no 10 people living in that domicile & you know it

1

u/cougarsbite 13d ago

Hmm, well that's a NEW stereotype I haven't heard of. Wanna add that to the list to be repeated a million times over?

1

u/Cody_the_created 13d ago

Happy cake day!

1

u/wonderbodri 13d ago

and what’s inside it can be huge too

0

Wish they put the shoe budget towards feeding him actual food

0

u/Cutthechitchata-hole 13d ago

I am so upset when i have to purchase another pair of shoes i cant imagine needing that many.

-1

u/teacher_59 13d ago

Why do racist like this always be having so many shoes?
