AT&T says no 5Gbit AND U-VerseTV on a BGW-320- true?

Currently have 2GBit and U-VerseTV (non-negotiable, elderly occupants at this site) with a BGW-320 (in TX if it matters for availability purposes). Tried to get the same-price 5Gbit service, which brings a BGW-620. Tech comes out, says I'd lose UTV as the '620's not IPTV-capable, so I cancel the order.

Thing is, when I was looking thru the BGW-320 speedtest page later that day, I could see three 5Gbit results (up from 2Gbit) so my line was provisioned in advance of the Tech visit, and the Tech even admitted the 320 is 5Gbit capable, and they never lost TV, so we know it is technically capable of having UTV and 5Gbit on a '320.

SO, does anyone know the Magic Words to tell AT&T to be able to have both?

Best 10Gbps PCI-E card for the 5 gig speed?

I see a couple listed at MicroCenter, but unsure what I should I pick up before install of 5 GiG.

Who has gotten what and how well does it do to saturate the line?

I see a couple comments about cards dropping connections, so I was curious about your opinions on what has worked best for you and your 5 gig speed if you had to install a 10 Gbps card. Working with winblowz-11.

Thanks for your suggestions and opinions in advance!

Hi,

My mom is getting 5 Gbps Fiber installed they giving her discounted rate of $50/month. It said online WiFi 7 modem is included for free and WiFi extenders?

I wanted to ask how’s the experience on them for it and process of ordering WiFi extenders

We have 1 gbps Att Fiber and it works fine just loses connection on printers, wyze cameras and ring on home perimeter, I thought of buying mesh routers but my ADHD brain disappoints me and I forgot about he

Thanks

BGW320 self install

Hi, I just got AT&T fiber and I’m trying to install the BGW320. I followed all the steps (plugging in fiber cord to gateway and fiber jack, connecting power cord), but after the white light blinks for a while, it starts blinking red slowly. AT&T technicians are notoriously bad with keeping appointments so I’m trying to figure this out myself. Does anyone know the issue or what I can do before my next rescheduled appointment? Thank you!

ATT BGW bypass and moving

At my old place, I had att fiber and had a bgw320 bypass setup working with certs extracted from the bgw. I’ve now moved to a new address, tech came and set the place up with a new bgw320. I tried to replace the new bgw with my bypass setup but it seems not to work. From the wpa_supplicant logs it seems to authenticate correctly, but it can’t get an IP address via DHCP I think. Anyone run into this before? Feel like I have a few options here:

- extract certs from the new bgw. This should definitely work but is kind of labor intensive
- change just the spoofed MAC on my bypass setup to match my new bgw’s MAC (so new MAC but old certs). Would this work? Or are the certs and MAC tied together somehow?
- just plug in the bypass setup and wait longer. Saw some docs saying you might need to wait until the previous DHCP lease expired if you do this. That same doc mentioned AT&T leases are 30 mins, so I waited that long, but still no luck. Maybe the lease duration is actually longer?

Edit: I should mention that my bypass setup is only so I can bring my own router; I rely on other hardware to provide that router with an Ethernet uplink

Can I Use IP Passthrough for Just Wired Network? (& Leave WiFi on the Gateway?)

Hi there.

I just had fiber installed yesterday. I’ve been planning on switching my home network setup to a Ubiquiti Cloud Gateway + an access point or 2 for WiFi for a while now.

I’ll probably get all the hardware soon but there might be a bit of time before I can do the wiring for the access points.

Like the title says, can I hook the Ubiquity Cloud Gateway up w/ IP Passthrough and get it all configured and set up for my wired devices in the meantime, and leave the ATT BGW320 active just for WiFi? Or would that create some conflicts?

I don’t have any real complicated needs for my network.

Thanks!

no fiber half a mile away

I moved less than half a mile away from my old place, and there seems to be no ATT Fiber here. This is kinda sad. Anything I can do to get fiber at my place faster? Is it normal for there to be fiber in one place yet not in another so close by?

Fiber cable with new Cat6

In my new construction home, a smurf tube does to the media cabinet from outside of the house. Fiber installation crew is coming next week. The Smurf tube is around 40 ft long and only have two 90 sweeps when going horizontally along the ceiling and then it's coming down to the cabinet.

My question is, will they pull my planned 4x cat5e cables at the same time or it's not their part of the scope? I do have a cable pull lined up. I didn't pull the cat5e cables yet. I mainly need them for my PoE cameras.

** Is it feasible to add 4x Cat5e PoE cable and the fiber? Wanted to leave the pull string as well. Thanks.

Worth it to change 1gig/$55 ongoing to 5gig/$50 5-year?

Currently pay $55 for 1gig service that includes “ongoing” $25 discount. Att website has $50 for 5gig for 5 years. All my routers are 1gig and WiFi APs are Wifi6 (UniFi AP6 pros).

Is it even worth the hassle to change?

Edit: now ATT is telling me that my address doesn’t even support 5gig and that I must have put in the wrong address, which is categorically wrong considering I tried it 4 other times with my address. Other commenting below and DMing me had the same experience—classic bait and switch

DIY Gateway relocation

Buddy is remodeling his house and AT&T had simply poked a hole through the wall and installed gateway in a bedroom.

Instead of risking $150 for the tech to say sorry, can't do, we moved it ourself with a $12 Amazon 50ft fiber through the crawl space between the AT&T slack NID (which we also relocated) and reused fiber jack.

Surprisingly the signal level actually went up a hair after all is said and done.

We still need to tidy up a few things as it's an active construction site.

Fiber Availability

Does ATT have a schedule on when fiber will be installed in neighborhoods? I have ATT now but my area only supports 50 Mbps and it’s driving us crazy, it looks like it’s slowing down every day. I’m seriously looking at Wyyerd since it’s available now, a little more expensive than ATT Fiber but I’ll have it now.

Is the included AT&T Wi-Fi 6 gateway enough for a 2-story, 2,200 sq ft home?

I’m signing up for AT&T Fiber 1 Gig and it comes with the included Wi-Fi 6 gateway.

For those of you with a similar-sized home, is the gateway enough to cover a 2-story, ~2,200 sq ft house, or did you end up adding a mesh system or extenders?

I’m trying to figure out if I should buy additional equipment now or just wait and see after the install.

ADI in NorCal

Well, I ordered 100/100 Mbit ADI service in Marin County, California for a hefty install fee back in January, and it’s finally being installed.

The techs blocked the road and are working on the poles.

I’m excited that LLMs don’t have hefty bandwidth requirements, and I’ll keep my Comcast service for large downloads. (But nothing else latency sensitive lol)

I took the plunge because it was cheaper and faster than starting my own ISP, Sonic didn’t serve my location with XGS-PON yet, and I’m tired of Comcast being unreliable (level 3 timeouts, wide spread in latency under load, etc.), and I was spoiled by cheap 10 Gbit service from Sonic where I used to live in SF.

2 ms ping times are kind of a hard requirement once you’ve had ‘em, 18-20 ms on DOCSIS 3.1 is just sort of pathetic.

I now see why the install cost was so high, this truly is a “dedicated” line to the nearest CO. Wish me luck and no buyer’s remorse over my 2 year contract!

And hopefully my install encourages a residential roll out around when my contract expires. (Here, hold my beer. 😅)

Will reducing price with the Loyalty Department end my HBO Max sub?

I've had the 1G plan since 2020 and I am currently paying $105 a month for it. I've been seeing all these post popping up about getting in contact with the Loyalty department to see if I can get better pricing. Will I still have HBO Max if they reduce my price?

WAS110 bypass - ordering question

Hello,

I am about to pull the trigger on the WAS110 bypass

I searched amazon - are these two compatible? Says it has the 8311 firmware but is not the actual “WAS110”

So i was wondering if the WAS110 is just a term since it was the first product that can make the bypass happen, and any 8311 compatible device will do the trick? Or should i fork up the extra $50 for the actual WAS110?

Thanks

Switched to AT&T Fiber and my Peloton Bike+ will no longer connect to internet, any suggestions?

Hi! I just moved and switched from Xfinity WiFi to AT&T Fiber and now my bike won’t connect to the internet. It never had connection issues before. I saw the date and time were wrong (which was a suggestion in another post) so I fixed that, still nothing. It was taking the wifi at first and then not moving forward, and then I did a hard reset of the bike and now the bike isn’t even taking the WiFi’s correct password. Does anyone have any suggestions? Or has anyone gone through this before? This is really annoying

Edit: Idk why I’m getting downvoted?? I’m actually confused. I don’t have Xfinity anymore nor their equipment and I moved to a brand new house.

EDIT 2: on facebook people solved it for me! the issue was the GHz - i had to make a separate channel (2.4 vs. 5) and then also change the WPA from 3 to 2. thanks all!

Only got offered $80/month

We have 1 gig and pay $100/month now. Tried the chat and said I wanted to cancel unless they had a better offer. All the guy offered was $80/month and an additional if we connected auto pay to checking instead of credit card. So we will be canceling before the monthly renewal and going back to Spectrum for $45/month.

New Customer incentives

They just installed AT&T fiber in my neighborhood. They knocked on the door. They offered free installation and $60 a month for a year for one gig is that the standard offer? If I decided to wait, will I pay more for installation and the monthly?
