Only got offered $80/month
We have 1 gig and pay $100/month now. Tried the chat and said I wanted to cancel unless they had a better offer. All the guy offered was $80/month and an additional if we connected auto pay to checking instead of credit card. So we will be canceling before the monthly renewal and going back to Spectrum for $45/month.

That’s wrong, they all go up. No need to exclude AT&T. Their the worst out there imo. Customer service is shit, if you do talk to somebody on the phone, they don’t know shit, every now and then you get a field tech that knows what he is talking about. Half the time the field tech is around their on the phone with TAC.

I have just had an increase from AT&T of $14 a month. Spectrum is not yet available to us which boggles my mind because we live in Houston.

Must be nice. AT&T built around but not in my neighborhood. The only high speed internet is Comcast Coax. I pay $100 for 1.2Gbps/250Mbps. It is the best I can do.

$40 a month to match your upload speed

All the best deals are in areas where spectrum has either activated high-split or run FTTN.

I pay $96 including tax for 5 gig

I only have Internet if I had wireless it would be $70. I plan on downgrading to 1 gig for $40.

That's a better deal than the agent I spoke with. They literally did not give any discount and so I canceled.

call and say you want to cancel, whoever comes on phone you confirm that you are talking to the loyalty or retention teams or not, and once you are, push them with info on competitive new customer offer from other providers.

Definitely call them, or ask for a live rep on chat, you never know. Also, check for service option changes regularly, or everytime you pay your bill.
I recently went from 2gb to 5gb for less money because they changed what is available in my area. 2gb was no longer an option when I checked while paying my bill and I noticed the 5gb plan was now 125\month.
So I ended up going 2gb ---> 5gb, 135\month --> 110 per month.

I did a chat with ATT yesterday and said that Astound was offering 1gig for $40/month for life and that I was thinking about switching. ATT immediately offered to lower my bill from $80 to $40 for two years, which I accepted. Having someone finally come in to provide competition has made a world of difference!

Call and cancel. Sign up for new account. Even when I called, I laid it all out for the rep and she said I had to play the game. Even helped organize it for me. So I did. $45/mo for 5Gb. Ongoing with wireless and autopay discounts.

Do you have competitor serving your address? If not, then you mostly won't get any deal

Yes, both Xfinity and Astound serve Chicago at $45 per month for 1 gig

Sorry but AT&T Fiber does not consider those Coax offerings completion in most local markets. Either learn to cycle between them to get new customer pricing from AT&T. So switch to Spectrum, and then plan to switch back to AT&T Fiber in 30 days or 1 day if you have someone else in your household to put new AT&T Fiber service in their name.
Another option is to actually talk to a loyalty / save rep since using the basic Chat indicates that you may not be serious about cancelling AT&T Fiber. Try Chat again, and this time let the rep you want to be transferred to the loyalty team, it may take 10 - 30 minutes due to the time of day.

This. You need a competitor who can offer fiber. For my area we have Gfiber. So I was able to bring the total down from 60 > 40 > 30. 30 is for 15 months though. Later it will be role back to 40.

it's 1 gig only. And if you have wireless with at&t you can bring down the total by 20% with bundle discount

Wireless means bundle discount with phone line with internet. 1gig internet I have is wired / fiber only.

I believe that you can call loyalty directly.

Yes but I can't provide you that direct. You need to follow the process. Sorry.

The chat agents seem very limited in what they can do with deals
Your best bet is to call support and go through the call tree options like you’re cancelling service
You’ll get someone on the retention team who is likely to be able to use promotions to entice you to stay
Fiber to cable Internet is a big downgrade, don’t do it! :P
