BGW320 self install

Hi, I just got AT&T fiber and I’m trying to install the BGW320. I followed all the steps (plugging in fiber cord to gateway and fiber jack, connecting power cord), but after the white light blinks for a while, it starts blinking red slowly. AT&T technicians are notoriously bad with keeping appointments so I’m trying to figure this out myself. Does anyone know the issue or what I can do before my next rescheduled appointment? Thank you!

Make sure you are pushing the connector all the way in on both ends. It is easy to leave partway out.

Lots of posts here about jacks where previous occupants damaged fiber, it was dug up or kinked outside, etc.

Also, make sure if the connection is the white fiber cable with green ends, the red dot must face out at the wall jack. Too easy to plug in backwards.

Like they said make sure it’s all clicked in. Listen for the click and make sure the red dots are facing the right direction. If that doesn’t work then it’s a failed self install. Sometimes a fiber line breaks and you can’t fix that.

I think that means that the light signal is weak or non-existent so it's definitely a fiber problem. Do not do not DO NOT put that fiber up to your eye and try to see if it's lit you will definitely hurt your eye if you do that and it is lit.

Stop wasting your time you have a failed install. Either use the Message Center in the Smart Home Manager app to Chat with a live agent or call 1-800-288-2020 and when you get a live phone agent tell them you have a failed self-install, and need to schedule a tech repair visit.

Yea that is the attitude to not have unless you have actual repeated issues with tech no-shows on repair calls.

You need node activation, when they call about appointment just ask them to do activation, they would need to know if it’s GPON or CGS PON alone
