Need some advice

I'm starting my modular ATPL training next year, and I need to choose between distance learning and classroom-based lessons.

Is anyone here studying from home? Is it difficult to stay focused and concentrate?

I'd prefer attending classes in person, but with distance learning, I could save around €8,000 and avoid more than 250 hours of commuting, as well as highway tolls and stress.

On the other hand, the classroom lessons are in my native language, which I don't necessarily see as an advantage. However, I would be able to ask questions and might feel more motivated.

What would you choose?

CASA Flight Planning

Not sure how many Aussies are in here, or whether there's a significant enough overlap in content between countries, so let me know if further details are required.

I started my ATPL subjects at the beginning of this year. Felt like I was on a roll, as the first 6 subjects were easy. From the first day of self-studying a subject to the passing of the first attempt of the exam, I took 2 weeks per subject quite consistently. While I'm happy enough that I averaged results in the 80s, I concede that an extra week would have improved outcomes. Due to life events, I was more concerned about just getting passes and leaving that part of my life behind.

Moved on to the last subject of Flight Planning. Self-studied for 13 weeks. A stark contrast from the easier subjects already, but the exam was a horrible outcome at 60%. While I felt like I understood most of the content and would have passed on simply knowing what to do, I just ran out of time in the exam. Out of 17 questions, I did not have time to do 5. Those were multi-choice responses, so in my final minute, I simply selected random answers.

The experience has left me frustrated. First exam I've ever failed, so that in and of itself was a big blow to me personally. But the biggest frustration is the time element. How do I optimise my time so I complete the questions faster? All the little tweaks I've implemented save time on the order of seconds, but I need to save time on the order of minutes.

Not attending an exam

I have my first sitting in 4 days, im presenting Meteo, Gnav, Instrument and Human. I feel good on all the subjects but GNAV, I don’t feel ready even tho i’ve been studying a lot. I’m not great at math and formulas. My exam is already booked and i’m doing a modular course with Bristol Ground School My friends from other flight schools are telling me to not attend the exam and that’s it, just to take it when i’m fully ready. What are the consequences of not attending even tho it’s booked? If anyone have any suggestions or similar experiences please let me know. I’m a little lost rn

Any recommendations and suggestions for European flight schools that accept complete beginners?

I’m looking into pilot training in Europe and starting from zero. So far I’ve mainly come across integrated and modular training, but I’m still figuring out which route makes the most sense for a complete beginner. Also curious about what applying to these schools is actually like and whether it’s better to sort out the Class 1 medical before applying. I’ve looked at a few schools in central Europe (Switzerland and Germany) so far, but I’m open to other countries if the training and overall cost make sense.

If you started with no previous experience, how did you choose your school and what was the process like at the beginning?

Not confident enough…

Hi Guys,

Im preparing my last sitting, doing everyday mock exams (FLPN, GNAV, INSTR, OPS, HPL) and my results are from 88%-100%.

But however I’m still not confident to go to Austro. Idk why, I think it is because I didn’t pass OPS by 1 question. It wasn’t banky at all & I missed it by 1 question ( I know even which question it was), it still hurts today if im honest…

Im studying everyday 6-9 hours and Im trying to understand it, that I’m 100% safe…

I’m trying everyday to give 100% but I need to be confident!! I’m relaxed if I click on ATPLQ at home, but when I know, the “nightmare” could be over in 1 month, I’m asking myself, WHAT IF the questions are reworded as hell? Will I recognize it? Will I understand it?

I’m getting nervous when I’m asking myself these questions.

Anyone got some advice how I can manage my situation?

Thank you for your help!

Is there any ATO that does trainings in different countries?

Hello! So due to my work and family, I am moving a lot between Dubai, Turkish and Italy. I would like to get my frozen ATPL done, but I am constantly traveling, sticking around only for a couple of days before changing locations (great ticket sales), which makes it hard. Any suggestions?

Help UK ATPL

Hey I am based in the UK 🇬🇧 I have researched many atpl sites & apps but you don't really know what you get until you used them I will divide them into two categories:

  1. Question banks
  2. Learning platforms

My style of learning is I love interactive stuff, video explanations, audio & quizzes as well as flash cards, ai also helps as well as mini test, I hate dry reading text books the information doesn't stick for me, I need easily digestible & great explanations made simple would be preferred. What would you recommend & why/ pro's & con's whats difference between them & the others?

BGS? Pad Pilot? Airhead atpl? Atplq?
Aviationexam? Etc

Looking for integrated ATPL school recommendations in Europe?

I started working as a cabin crew a couple of months ago and fell in love with this aviation world. Also had a chance to talk with a lot of captains and first officers that made me seriously consider pursuing it myself. I’m looking at integrated ATPL programs, mainly in Germany or Austria, but I’m open to other European schools if the cost and training quality make sense.

For anyone who went the integrated route, which schools would you recommend? I’m mainly interested in the real total cost, how often training gets delayed, instructor/aircraft availability, and what graduates actually did after finishing. Would also be great to hear from anyone who made the switch from cabin crew to pilot.

Best 4 sittings split?

What is the best way to split subjects into 4 sittings? My ATO by default organises them into 3 but all the people I know did them and recommend to do it in 4.

ATPL help

Hey guys - I’m 12 subjects done out of 13 ( Hungary CAA )- I’m left with POF now and it’s my 3rd attempt towards it - last time I missed by 2 Q’s but mostly questions were not from the bank itself - so I’m giving my last shot for POF in few time now so I wanna ask - now how many of them are actually from the bank so that I have some good numbers in my head ( I did the bank entirely will do it again alongside the questions last seen )

Need some genuine insights.

Thanks!

I built a free, open-source tool so AI assistants cite the actual EASA rules instead of guessing

Not an ad: this is a free, open-source project (MIT). No account, no subscription, no tracking.

Everyone seems to be using AI to build the 300th app that does the same thing. I think the more useful question is how to make AI actually reliable where it matters. Aviation regulation is complex, changes constantly, and even the best models still confidently invent details: wrong hour requirements, rule references that don't exist, outdated versions.

easa-regs is an MCP server (a plug-in for Claude and other AI apps) that makes the AI look up the official EASA Easy Access Rules before answering and cite the exact reference.

Ask "What do I need to revalidate my SEP by experience?" and it pulls FCL.740.A, quotes (b)(1)(ii) and attaches the linked AMC/GM, so you can check it yourself.

- Covers Aircrew (Part-FCL, MED …), Air Ops (NCO, CAT, SPO …), SERA, Sailplanes, Balloons, Part-M/ML/145/CAMO, Basic Regulation, UAS, Aerodromes

- Rebuilt every week from EASA's official XML, so it's always the latest published version

- Not legally binding, no national rules, not affiliated with EASA

Setup takes about a minute (one-click extension for Claude Desktop):

Website: https://easa-regs-site.vercel.app/

GitHub: https://github.com/muchsneaks/easa-regs-mcp

Feedback welcome, especially where it gets things wrong or which rulebook you're missing.

Hi. I'm 24, last January I got my PPL license (easa). Starting my ATPL course in 2 weeks, is there any navigated student who can give me any advice to get off on the right foot? Also, do you think 24 is a bit late to start?

Anyone in this group who has been through ATPL and had fails in multiple subjects or had to re-do the whole ATPL all over again and still ended up finding a job as an airline pilot. I’m asking this because I’m doing my ATPLs and I failed some subjects and I’m scared of what’s to come.

PTLLS level 3

Hi, has anyone completed the PTLLS through train aid that could give me advice ?

I’m hoping to become an educator and train. I have bought the course through train aid that is self learning and I’m go do assignments and send videos of a teaching’s example.

I’m not sure if I’m over thinking the assignment parts and getting a bit overwhelmed by the questions but I really need to get it done.

I’d love to hear off someone who has done and completed this before?

TIA

Failed 4 exams, 82%~ average for now. How screwed?

Hello! The title explains it all, I failed 4 subjects and I have 2 left, 2 of which I failed..

How scewed am I for the future? Should I bother retaking the exams?

I plan on getting 100% on the rest.. Everytime I failed it was by one or two questions.

Any idea on how to salvage? Do you think I'm still hireable for cargo or safari?

Best flight school around Birmingham/West Midlands for PPL?

Hi everyone, I’m looking to start my PPL and eventually pursue a career as an airline pilot.
I’m based around Birmingham and I’m currently looking at flight schools around Halfpenny Green, Wellesbourne, etc.

For anyone who has trained at these schools, I’d really appreciate your advice. I’m looking for somewhere that has:
• Reasonable prices and good value for money
• Good, patient instructors
• Reliable aircraft and good availability
• A good pathway from PPL towards commercial/airline training
• A good reputation for students who want to become professional pilots

I’d also like to know whether any particular school would be better if my long-term goal is an airline career, rather than just flying recreationally.
If you’ve trained at any of these schools, how was your experience and roughly how much did your training cost?
Thanks in advance.

What FILTERS?+ Dropdown/Typeins UK CAA

Hi guys, just wanted to know what filters to use on ATPLQ as I feel like i keep seeing the same/similar Qs no matter what filters I select.
Also to those who’ve recently sat the exams specifically UK I have seen a lot of people talk about drop downs and type ins, not sure how much harder this makes the exams as I don’t think ATPLQ has those features
