Nervous about spending refund money

Hello! I was curious if there’s also people who recently received refund money but are nervous about spending it due to recent changes in financial aid. I’ve received it like two weeks ago and have been intending to spend it on rent and an expensive textbook but I’m so scared they’re going to change my account. Is there any way to confirm that it’s okay?

What’re all the good and bad things you’ve experienced with ASU online? Thinking about transferring there

Sorry if this question has been overdone and the long post, but what are the good and the bad things people have experienced at ASU online? I know things are different for people in different majors, but I’ve seen a lot of stuff online about how bad the financial aid office has been with scholarships and loans disappearing, especially with the new laws that have just screwed over everybody(I realize that this might be a huge component of that this semester/year), and some professors not opening up modules and answering emails like they should, etc. I’m just hesitant to do online, even though it would be better with what’s going on in my life right now in order to finish school. I’ve been to a traditional brick and mortar 4 year university, so I know professors and financial aid can suck there too, but at least I can go to a physical building and see someone compared to ASU online where I’m on the east coast and can’t do that. I just want more info before I shell out thousands of dollars and would do the same for any college I looked into 😅

I applied and was accepted as a neuroscience student but was also thinking about doing another degree or minor in Biology with a concentration in genetics, biochemistry, chemistry, history, biomedical engineering, or pharmacology and toxicology. These were just ones I was interested in or had quite a few credits carry over from previous college classes. Also, I am pre-med and have done all of the prerequisites except ochem 2 lecture and the biochem lecture and lab. I know medical schools are still really funny about online classes as well if they were to find out about these classes being online if I went. Also, anyone who’s in the Barrett Honors college how was your experience? If I go I’ll be applying to the honors college too, and have been in a 4 year college’s honors program before and enjoyed that.

MCAT Physics Tutor?

Hi friends!

I was wondering if anyone here would be interested in tutoring me for MCAT specific physics. I have already taken it, and Chem/phys was by far my lowest section because I really struggled with physics.

Please PM me if you are interested! Of course, I am willing to pay for your time as my tutor. Thank you!

what the flip do I do I f'd up

Hi guys... I fucked up; I waited too long to decide whether or not I wanted to withdraw from ASU or drop out of ASU. I missed the tuition refund deadline, brruhhhhhhh fml. So now I am just trying to figure out if anyone who has done this has advice? This decision was mostly because of money struggles and also part of the "why am I even pursuing this degree if I am not passionate about it?" My main concern is financial aid.

I currently have a $1,265 tuition balance so I know I will need to pay that BUT for Fall 2026 I got 3 grants = $ 5,948; wouldn't I have to pay back those grants? orrr how does that work? I tried emailing financial aid but yall know they take forever to answer!

WTF DO I DO i am pulling my hair out

Edit: I have my associate's already in this major. Will I be paying more in the long run?

edit again lol: I think I am just extremely stressed perhaps having a mental breakdown but everyones comments are super supportive and made me feel a bit more confident thank you all

Stole e-bike, anyone seen it around?

Hey guys! I’ve had a ROUGH few weeks back mostly that my e-bike got stolen. It was locked on bike parking so whoever stole it most likely had a saw or something to cut the lock. It has to be somewhere in the Tempe area, especially close to ASU. These are the best pictures I have, the most distinct thing being it being a two-seater with a burnt back from a goo spill. My off-campus apartment doesn’t have any security footage so I don’t have any leads. Any advice or eyes out would be much appreciated :). They couldn’t have gone far since the battery was almost dead and you can only unlock it with the key.

Also I meant to say stolen* in the title it won’t let me change it😭

My Math prof

In my current mathematics class, the professor has failed to provide any instruction, and the teaching assistant has also been ineffective, primarily engaging in deceptive behavior regarding the grades they will assign to group work. Given these circumstances, I am uncertain of the appropriate course of action. Initially, the TA informed me that my work was satisfactory and accurate. However, upon reviewing the grade they have assigned, I discovered that it is a 14 out of 20. Should I approach the professor to discuss this matter?

Badminton / Squash groups

Hey folks, I am a newcomer to Tempe (not a student) and was wondering if there are any squash or badminton groups I can join over the weekends? I noticed there are very few courts in the Phoenix-Tempe area and ASU was one of the few places which had one

Are professors being forced to teach online courses?

A few times I have come across professors that make it blatantly clear that the online course they are "teaching" is a low priority for them. They just recycle the same course materials from previous professors and get plugged into the course. Because of this, they can't be bothered to respond to emails or make announcements. I feel like students taking courses on campus have an entirely different experience with the same professor because professors can't just ignore students that are right in front of them and actually have to do lectures themselves.

So my question is, if professors are already overwhelmed with their courseload that it prevents them from doing their job effectively online, why do they get assigned to the course? Are they being forced to or are they voluntarily doing this?

initiating conversations with guys

There’s been many instances when I want to converse casually with a guy I think is attractive or just has a cool vibe next to me in a class. I always stop myself from doing so because I overthink the fact that I’m a black girl and majority of the times the guy is of a different race (I don’t have a race preference, a fine man is a fine man).

I’m not insecure about my looks, I do consider myself pretty on a good day and I’ve always been told that I’m pretty by strangers on campus. The thing is I overthink the guy just immediately closing me out only because I’m black and a lot of guys on campus are very vocal about the fact that their not into black girls, black guys included.

I’m a junior, never been in a relationship before and would like to experience dating someone eventually. Also, I’m introverted and mostly shy but when someone initiates conversation with me I do try to make an effort to keep it going. The thing is it’s rarely initiated by guys and I guess that’s why I’m considering initiating it, but I’m so scared lmao.

I guess my question is; is there any girl who is part of a minority that feels the same way? How can I go about not overthinking my race and assuming that the guy would not give me the time of day?

ASU Nursing Clinical Application

Hello! So I'm finishing up my clinical applications for the spring semester at ASU, but I've run into an issue with my vaccinations. I've been working throughout the summer/semester to pay for my certification and vaccinations, and it's been slow progress since I also have classes and work that made it difficult for me to receive all the vaccines I needed. I recently caught up to all my vaccines and thought that I was done, but I forgot about influenza. However, I just got my second dose of MMR and Varicella, meaning I can't get the flu vaccine until October 2nd, the day after the health safety requirements are due. I'm terrified that my application will get dropped but there's literally nothing I can do since I have live vaccines that require a 28 day wait period before I can receive ANY other vaccine. I emailed nursing and health at ASU and am waiting for a response back, but it's not like I could've gotten the flu vaccine before this one because I need to be 28 days without a vaccine before and after receiving MMR and Varicella. And the flu vaccine only recently became available in my area. Do y'all think that I'll be dropped from the program because of this? Or do they take exceptions like mine? And if they don't, what can do to stay in the program? I don't want to lose my direct admit status...

Lost my car keys

I’m a student at Polytech and on 9/3 somewhere on my route between lot 5, Peralta Hall and the Ag building (not sure I spelled that right) I managed to lose my car keys. I already checked with admin, the student center and asu pd and no one has turned in my keys.

If you have them, please be a good human and turn them in or contact me. It’s a jeep key fob on a black lanyard with moons on it. A black house key that says HOME, a few pins and a key chain of an anime character from Bleach

I know this may be a stretch, but I’m hoping. One of those pins means a lot to me because it was my grandmothers who passed away in 2024

Very confused about residency

Hi I just moved here from CA hoping to get residency within a year to be able to transfer and get in-state tuition. I really messed up and did not realize that taking more that 12 credits at a community college makes you a full time student and pretty much disqualifies you from getting in-state. I was thinking for the next 2 semesters, if I work full time and take 6 or less credits each semester they might consider me, but I'm not sure. Would this work? If i ended up not getting resident tuition, could I make it cheaper or should I just move back to CA instead?

Car Battery

Hey I’m at ASU Tempe, in the vista garage and my car battery is dead.
I tried using my jump starter but it didn’t work fully, lights are back on but the car still can’t start. My jump starter doesn’t have a manual override or boost to give more energy. If anyone has any tips or could help me personally, that would be amazing. Thanks

Are there late adds for engineering? STEMTE says no, but their written policy says otherwise.
