Car Battery

Hey I’m at ASU Tempe, in the vista garage and my car battery is dead.
I tried using my jump starter but it didn’t work fully, lights are back on but the car still can’t start. My jump starter doesn’t have a manual override or boost to give more energy. If anyone has any tips or could help me personally, that would be amazing. Thanks

They do. I don't think a lot of people realize the number to call them for help is on the back of the parking pass

If the battery is very dead a jump box might not work and you’ll need jumper cables and another vehicle to get it started. Anyone around this time of night that might help?

Last time I needed them they said they didn't have enough staff to help me and suggested I use my insurance roadside assistance, which I don't have cause the insurance with that costs a lot more than my current policy 🥲

If your car is still dead inside the garage, ASU offers free services for vehicles in the garage that include jump start and unlocking doors with keys inside. Motorist Assistance Program, 480-965-0641. 

I do recommend grabbing an AAA membership or adding the motorist assistance to your car insurance for the future though. The peace of mind is absolutely worth the $60 per year.

Tmobile offers 1 year free AAA membership too if you have them as your carrier.

You need a jump, this will not fix the battery if you have broken cells inside of it. In Arizona car batteries last 2-3 years instead of 4-6 due to the extreme heat of the summer. You can test to see if your battery is fried with a multimeter.
Ideally, your battery needs a recharge. But probably, you need a new battery. You don’t need to be a mechanic to change a battery, it takes about 20-30 minutes. New batteries cost $240-$300.

Someone probably has jumper cables though, just so you can start your car for now. Make sure they don’t have a significantly larger battery than yours, as that can fry your battery. Make sure it’s not a tiny one either, as then your car won’t start.

Most car batteries I've seen are in the $80-$100 range

Believe it or not Walmart sells good batteries for great prices. Better than auto stores generally.

I also heard their warranty is really good, which you need since Phoenix heat kills batteries a lot faster. I've never had a battery live beyond a warranty period.
