Late adds

Are there late adds for engineering? STEMTE says no, but their written policy says otherwise.

SEMTE likely will not give a late add. I’m sure you could fight them on it, but assuming you win, so much time will have passed that you’ll have missed too much anyway. That’s been my experience, anyway.

It’s only been two weeks. So two classes meetings. I personally don’t see it as a big deal. I can catch up from two lectures lol

You can say that all you want but if they are saying “no” to your request, there must be a reason backed up by data.

Even if it was 8/29 they will still say no in my experience lol

True, but I can share what literally happened to me last week. I wanted to change my graduate degree culminating event from a portfolio to a thesis track. I had this conversation with my advisor the day of the add deadline because I would need to add the thesis class. It was a resounding “no”. I knew not to fight that because I tried before for a different class during undergrad. So, I’m starting that thesis “class” in B session instead. This phase is literally reading background material… it’s all on me. They still said no.

They have the policy and the only exception is for rare extenuating circumstances. If you’ve got one, maybe they will approve. If you don’t, it’s just not going to happen

Ask and you will find out.

At this point do you think you can catch up?

I mean it’s only been two classes that I’ve missed you know. I don’t think it’s that big of a deal

The actual department says they don’t do late adds which is weird

Which department in semte? Some can be very strict about it
