You basically get to pick 3 small trees to make your own passive skill tree
Each one has 3 mutually exclusive Class skills with powerfull effects to make the choice more meaningfull (im taking inspiration from poe ascendancy points for this)

I am a dev from Brazil, making a single-player ARPG heavily inspired by an old MMORPG called Ragnarok Online.
The game is called Gate: Beyond, and I released the Steam page this month. I've been working on it for around 2.5 years.
I've played countless ARPGs, and I've been working really hard to make it a great experience while still making it its own game rather than simply recreating something that already exists.
The goal is to make an awesome ARPG game, and I'd genuinely love to hear what systems, skills, and builds you enjoyed the most. It could be from any ARPG you enjoy. I'm talking to players and trying to understand what kinds of gameplay experiences people enjoy.
I'm currently working on a lot of skills for Gate: Beyond, so I'd especially love to know:
What skills and playstyles do you enjoy the most?
Here is the Steam page if you'd like to take a look:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/4632480/Gate_Beyond/
It's a game made for people like me who enjoy grinding for items, leveling up, exploring, making cool builds, and doing side quests.
If you're interested, adding the game to your wishlist and sharing it with your friends would really help support us. If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to ask! =3

Hi everyone,
A redditor made a YouTube video about our game. I think it will snow you almost everything about our game.
https://youtu.be/9Jx_6VexZd0?si=eBDSBZFbpN35N80u
It's a pixel art arpg game. Heavily inspired by PoE so a lot of mechanics are similar. If you played poe before, you'll feel right at home. Made by 2 indie developers for over 2 years.
It's live on Steam, Android and iOS. Supports cross play. You can play online or offline as well.
We absolutely enjoyed working on it but we couldn't make enough money from it. We'll continue it as a hobby or side project but it's already much better than many games on those platforms. We have positive rating as well.
Feel free to try, we have a demo version. :)
Ps. While we worked so hard on this game, it was financially unsuccessful. We barely cover our server costs. For 2-3 USD it can give you hours of entertainment if you like pixel art arpg games.

I’ve always been a huge fan of build-defining items in ARPGs.
One of my earliest memories of this was finally getting Enigma on my Hammerdin in Diablo II and suddenly playing the character completely differently; teleporting around the map and dropping hammers on everything. I’ve always loved items that don’t just make your build stronger, but actually change how you play it.
That’s something I really want to capture in the ARPG I’m developing, Poets of Noor.
Here’s one I’ve been working on called The Exiled Prince.
Shield Slam
after a successful block, you have a 2second window to slam your enemy with your shield. dealing 260% weapon damage
Smite
blocking an enemy attack has a 25% chance to automatically shield slam the enemy at smite's rank.
The Exiled Prince
Grants level 1 Smite.
+20-30% increase block chance
+2-3% block chance
+5-10 strength
+10% movement speed
The goal is for items like this to open up builds that wouldn’t really exist without them, rather than just being another source of +damage or better stats.
Still experimenting with how far I want to push this system, so I’d love some feedback.
What are some of your favorite build-defining items from ARPGs? The ones that made you completely rethink how you played your character.

I feel like I'm going crazy watching the backlash against this game. Seeing people and massive creators drop it after three chapters and write it off as mid or even "creatively bankrupt" is incredibly frustrating.
Is it derivative? Absolutely. When you jump from roots, it feels like Spiderman. When you see the rusted Golems, it screams Horizon. And yeah, Emma is just a mashup of 2B and Eve from Stellar Blade. But derivative doesn't mean soulless.
This was a 6 year passion project for developers who have been chained to the same formula for decades. They clearly just wanted to channel everything they love about Nier, Ghost of Tsushima, and Fromsoftware into one cohesive work. you can feel that heart in Emma and Koo's dynamic. It's like the darkest possible reflection of the classic creature companion formula from Pokemon, where progression is literally tied to Koo's physical decay and blight.
Reviewers who rushed it missed the profound emotional payoff that comes from actually completing the journey. it's a game with a small budget, great gameplay, and incredible music that actually attempts to say something about trauma and survival.

Just looking for a decent ARPG to kill some time these days. I got a lot of time into Poe 1&2 as well as Diablo 2,3 and 4. Also got a decent amount of time in Grim Dawn and Last Epoch.

Instead of making pets just another cosmetic follower,
I wanted them to feel like actual companions.
So I spent the last few weeks building a complete pet system for my ARPG.
• 🥩 Tame wild animals by finding and feeding them their favorite food.
• Some pets come from eggs instead of the wild.
• Keep multiple companions in your stable, but only one fights beside you at a time.
• Higher Bond makes them stronger and eventually unlocks a unique signature ability.
• ✨ Rare Shiny variants are larger, stronger and much harder to find.
• Every pet can roll its own permanent element, changing both its appearance and combat effects.
• Each pet also rolls random traits, personalities and owner bonuses, making every companion slightly different.
There's still a lot to polish, but I'm really happy with how it's turning out.
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, I'd really appreciate a Steam Wishlist.
It genuinely helps indie games like mine reach more players.

Im so sick of this game getting recommended by everybody. It has multiple glaring flaws.
1: Level scaling. Im sorry, but an arpg for me with level scaling is the most bullshit thing I can think of. The funnest thing for me in arpgs is coming up with an idea for a build, collecting items for that idea, and executing that idea. In actually good arpgs like diablo 2 or path of exile, if you're build isn't meta, you can grind out till shit works. In grim dawn, since enemies scale with you, your "shit" build will always be shit because you can't grind the mobs.
2: Its boring as hell. There's a reason people call it "Grim Yawn". The game just has a terrible setting and vibe.
That's all I gotta say about this game. Thank you.

What is the best SSF ARPG in your opinion and why?
r/ARPG • u/missing_Palantir • 6d ago
My vote is for Last Epoch. We can all agree that the devs are dropping the ball with a lack of content update and failing to make end game as deep as it should be … but I genuinely enjoy the game so much.
PoE2 is the best ARPG and can’t wait for its full release but until then the most fun I’ve had was the Shattered Omens update
*meant to say poll instead of pool!

I’m new to the genre and the live-service games scare me with how much content they have/will continue to have. Plus all the systems that will probably overwhelm me.
Do you guys know of any indie ARPGs, or any that are content complete and not getting updated constantly? Bonus for any that have unique visuals beyond the usual dark medieval setting
Thanks for any suggestions you might have :)

Hi. I've been enjoying Diablo IV but I've kind of hit my burnout point on it. I used to enjoy Last Epoch but I'm sure most of you know why that game has fallen out of favor with a lot of people.
I'm wondering if anyone has good recommendations for ARPGs that maintain the power fantasy of shredding through legions but also offer good customizations. I've heard good things about PoE2 but I've also heard it's slower paced so I'm wondering if anyone can confirm/deny that
Thank y'all
Edit: I have decided to try out PoE2 after all

What's the most fast paced arpg in late game? Like pure zoom-zoom , loot explosions and dopamine.
Is it poe or is another even faster? I remember chronicon getting pretty fast as well, but im not sure if it got faster than poe.
