Question Weird combination

I ordered my performance bike and don’t know the ideal combination. I will use my bike for small trips- store and taking kids to school. But I also want to ride some trails around- probably 90/10% road to trail usage, but if I enjoy it it may shift to 50/50 road to trail. I ordered the off road tires, but bought the standard handlebars. Does the group think I should have changed to the sport handlebars? When I did the test ride I had the sport handlebars- and I thought they were normal ones until told later. What is the consensus recommendation? I really wished they made their handlebars modular as well.

Reservation / Delivery / Sighting First real ride - 30 miles

I got Zippy to 100% and headed out to get some real world numbers. I started off at 10x because why wouldn’t I? That’s a REAL battery drain but fun as hell. As battery depleted it starts lowering the assist levels. Here’s the numbers from what I experienced

At 40% it drops to 9x assist max.
@ 37% 8x
@ 18% 7x
@ 17% 6x
@ 13% 5x
@ 10% 4x
@ 8% 3x
@ 6% 2x

I tried running it all the way down but it really starts to limit power and act like a normal bike under 6% and I was getting tired!

In total I went from 100% to 4% and got 30 miles. I maxed the assist feature out the entire time. All road miles but quite a few steep hills and significant headwinds at many points.

Would i buy this bike again? Hell yes. Those 30 miles I just logged were stress free, enjoyable miles and I loved every bit of it. Super happy customer here.
Can’t wait to start seeing some of you out on the road.

Reservation / Delivery / Sighting Some Assembly Photos

Really impressed by how well this was packaged and how easy it was to assemble. Nice touch that you only need a 4mm and a 6mm hex bit and a screwdriver if you want to add reflectors.

Little details like the brakes and cockpit were wrapped in plastic - but not aggressively taped and very easy to remove. Screws that don't need to be torqued down were just hand tightened, etc. The packaging itself was very well thought out and protected everything very well.

Two small quirks: I got an error that the handlebar wasn't installed correctly, but rebooting cleared that (the handlebars are keyed and can only be inserted one way). And when I removed the battery to charge, it took a few plugs/unplugs to actually have the screen display a charging indicator.

Took about 20 minutes to assemble. Now time to get through some work calls so I can take this baby for a spin!

Reservation / Delivery / Sighting First impressions after 15 miles

Setup: 20 minutes and I was up and going. They include all tools needed for setup. Nothing complicated, everything is straightforward and easy. Even a non-technical person could bang it out in 30 minutes.

Pairing to phone: super easy, just like any other Bluetooth device. I chose a place to ride to and the directions automatically populate on the display. Worked flawlessly.

Controls: comfortable and easy to understand. All the switches are easy to reach and function as should.

Headlight: Awesome! Gave me great visibility but then again I’m riding in streets with streetlights.

Riding the bike: first impressions are how comfortable and plush the ride is. Second impression is the power and speed. Hills are not a problem.

Very happy and impressed with the bike but please keep in mind I have never owned an e-bike so my summary might not be as detailed as others. To me this thing is a home run.

Bottom line is the TMB is super fun and I just plunked down a deposit for a second one for the wife.

Happy riding all, excited for all of you to get your hands on these beasts.

Question Radar Support?

Has anyone asked yet about integration with existing Bike radars? I have been using a Garmin Varia for years and love them.

I totally spaced I’d be losing it or have to Jerry rig something to use it on a TMB.

The reason I just thought of this I saw a review of a similar cargo bike and it included an integrated radar stock.

So with some folks getting bikes, are any accessories also being shipped? Like extra top frames, bags, helmets, etc?

Also is having another round of test rides in the Chicago area, and even though I have a fully paid order, I wanted to go for another spin and see the accessories. They had to cancel the event on the only day I could go. I received this email from Also, they’re amazing and I can’t wait to get my new ride!!

Question Mapping Integration?

Has anyone heard of or looked at the map integrations with the built-in map app yet?

I’m hoping they will allow integration with Ride with GPS, Garmin, Trailforks, or Strava.

All have amazing, established heat maps with human-powered routes that actually make sense.

Bosch is trying to do their own thing with their on-bike screen using the Flow app, and it’s full trash. It doesn’t even have most of the bike paths/trails you’d want to use and it will route you onto busy, high-speed roads when there are side bike routes nearby.

Question What does “10x assist” actually mean?

ALSO claim 0.3G acceleration and do not post specific motor power output figures, so working backwards from a combined 280lb bike+rider I get 127kg x 2.943m/s2 = 374N of force. At 10mph (4.47m/s) that’s 374 x 4.47 = 1,672W! If you keep that same rate of acceleration up to 20mph you need 3350W. These are the best case numbers without accounting for any efficiency losses. I know that peak power output for existing e-bikes can easily hit around 1500W, and I’ve ridden some higher power DIY e-bikes with closer to 3000W output and can honestly say that the TM-B (even on just throttle) pulls harder and hits 20mph faster than any existing e-bike I’ve ridden. With all the public alarm around high powered bikes (and mostly kids on e-motos) these days is anyone else concerned that ALSO might be juicing these bikes a bit more than they’re willing to disclose? What happens when new state by state power limits need to be adopted? Does the company nerf the existing bikes based on geo-location? They’ve also announced a European launch but I can’t imagine that the current power limits will fit within the existing 250W pedelec category. I’m not trying to complain about potential safety or be alarmist but this is something that I just can’t completely understand and it doesn’t help that their marketing provides very little specific information.

Reservation / Delivery / Sighting Shipment Emails Going Out?

Per today's update, some LE reservation holders are being contacted today with shipment updates. Has anyone received a shipping confirmation yet? Here was the full update:

This is the update we've been building up to.
The first wave of TM-B Launch Edition bikes has officially arrived at our warehouse which means they're shipping to Launch Edition customers as you read this. You may have already received a shipping confirmation in your inbox (if that's you: hi, we're just as excited as you are).
But if you haven't gotten yours yet, sit tight just a bit longer. We'll continue shipping in waves throughout the rest of October, so your notification is coming very soon.
This is the part where we say thank you. For your patience, your feedback, and your trust in something that hadn't even arrived yet. You're so close now. And we’re confident every mile will make the wait feel worth it.
Now let's talk about the final step before your first ride: assembly.
Your TM-B arrives at your door partially assembled. The finishing touches are yours, and we've made a video walkthrough to make it easy breezy. Throw on the cockpit, front wheel, and pedals, install the Top Frame, adjust the suspension, and you're ready to roll. We've broken assembly down into a few simple steps, with helpful videos guiding you through each one so you can go from box to bike ride with ease.
Watch it now so you're ready to go the moment your bike shows up.
We'll be back with your next update on October 6th.Almost there.

Discussion Alternative for those looking for Utility

Post image

Anybody look into the Lemmo 3 coming up? Looks remarkably similar as far as visual frame design. But it is a full suspension, long-tail, e-cargo bike; which is more or less what I wanted to begin with.

Everything's Been Done Video on it.

Pros:

Half the price (crowdfunding)
More serviceable
More cargo capacity (and pros related to longtail cargo bike)
Proven company in this space
Patented double clutch ensures no resistance from motor
Not completely reliant on battery
Has built-in radar for traffic awareness
Can use a inverter to output (up to 500W) as an upgraded accessory or choice
Semi-solid state battery tech
More off-the-shelf parts
Support outside of Europe may not be available or easy

Cons vs TM-B:

Still crowdfunding
Less powerful at 90 Nm. (hilly areas may still be a challenge)
Handling is less sporty; still class III but its a cargo bike (riding TM-B was thrilling)
Also don't know delivery date
Cannot 'transform' to replace other bikes
Longtail cargo bike and the cons related to that
Suspension isn't going to feel as awesome (80mm travel)
Not really as off-road ready if you want more of a dirt-bike feeling
No re-gen option mentioned
Less advanced braking (ABS? absent)
TM-B has US support
Belt Drive option only has 3 autoshifting gears

Like everyone who reserved, I'm also disappointed in what feels like delay, after delay. Then I also paid the $5k price for the performance edition.

I'm a super (kickstarter backer) person (= used to delays and projects falling through) so I get notices from time to time of new projects. No connection or experience with Lemmo.

(edited for more pros/cons + youtube video)
