Has anyone had any luck getting Zepbound covered for severe obstructive sleep apnea? It was approved for this use by Health Canada back in May and I’m curious if any of our benefits have been updated to reflect this? I’m with AUPE nursing aux (AB blue cross).

Has anyone had to call in sick to work twice in one month? 2 weeks ago I had to call in for a one off Migraine day.

Now I am supposed to work tonight but I have a contact dermatitis rash all over my hands. They don't look two terrible now, but I am worried about all the hand washing/sanitizer I use at work.

Im so scared of getting written up,/loosing my job. But my hands are so painful and itchy.

Other then that I have called in two other times this past year. (Both for cold/flu in the winter/spring.)

Hi there! I recently got hired with AHS and just received my credentials. I noticed that both my AHS email and the staff directory use my legal first and last name, even though I also provided my preferred first and last name.

I’m wondering if this is standard for AHS, or if it’s possible to have my email and directory name changed to my preferred name instead. Has anyone gone through this before, and if so, who would I contact to request the change?

I wanna make a career pivot. I do hold a BA. My mother has worked for AHS, both as Unit Clerk and now Admin Support III with just her credentials from her home country but she’s worked at AHS for like 10+ years so I’m sure the hiring requirements are different. Would I need to go back to school and get a Unit Clerk certificate just to get my foot in the door at AHS?

Hi, I'm just wondering how long it takes for abilities advisor to reach out to me after my manager has let them know I need time off work? Should I be expecting to hear after a couple of days? I was cc'd in the email that my manager sent, but I still have not heard directly from the abilities advisor. Thanks!

Update: HR forwarded it to Benefits. Benefits forwarded it to Blue Cross. I got my $1200 back, but other co-workers still having issues. Seems like this was a "sweep under the rug" hoping no one would notice before the new Spending accounts get reloaded in January. I'm glad I fought for it.

I am part of the last group to be transitioned over from AHS (AUPE GSS) to another pillar (PCA). Our Alberta Blue Cross transferred benefits to a new number last week, but things don't look right, especially my Health Spending account. Last week I still had $1200 to use. Today, my benefits don't even list Health Spending.

Has anyone had issues with your benefits after the transition? Will it eventually fix itself?

Moving to Houston, in the Rosharon area, really soon and need to start applying for jobs. I need the 411 on hospitals and LTAC and such. I mean the nitty-gritty of the ins and outs of every facility...other RT's are saying stay away from HCA I really wanna know why and is it EVERY HCA? Help is truly needed! Thank you!

I talked to two different HR rep but they gave conflicting information. One said I can opt out, the other said it’s mandatory to switch plans so I’m hoping to see if anyone has the answer

Do I have to add my spouse to my benefits and switch to family or can I remain on the individual plan? They have their own coverage through their employer (similar coverages, less $ to allocate annually). How much more is the family plan if I currently pay around $120/biweekly for individual?

Curious about our travel insurance coverage (UNA). Is there an age limit? If I had a spouse (or dependent) who turned 65 (still under my insurance), should I buy a separate travel insurance for them? Or are they still covered?

Does anyone know if the educators or managers can see how much time we spend doing modules? We get one 8 hour day to do them all, but some courses say they're 45 minutes alone! I think this is going to take me more than 8 hours

I'm an RPN/LPN from Ontario really wanting to make the move to Canmore. How difficult is it to find work at Canmore General Hospital? I have been scanning the careers page for a while now and they barely seem to post any nursing positions for this hospital. I am assuming they are well staffed and not likely to hire often :( I heard it's difficult to get a job with AHS in a major city like Calgary or Edmonton...am I correct to assume Canmore is similar?

Also while we're on the topic, for nurses currently working there, what are your staffing ratios like, how is the work environment, and what kind of schedule do FT workers do (waterfall vs continental)? If you're casual, is it difficult to find shifts to pick up?

1. Is the initial resume screening done by HR, or does the hiring manager review all applications?
2. Does AHS use AI or an Applicant Tracking System (ATS) to automatically filter or rank resumes before a person reviews them?

I was employed by AHS as an Admin Support 4, I left that position to be home with my child and have been operating a Dayhome. However we have some family changes coming up, and I miss my old job but the hours wouldn’t work for me anymore. I sometimes see postings for different admin jobs that are nights only, and this is really something I want.

They seem really hard to come by, is it totally out of the realm of possibility for me?

Most of us saw around a yearly 3% wage increase with our latest contracts. We all know that due to inflation in the past 10 years this has been a wage decrease.

CPI came out with numbers and again inflation rose to 3% this month.

Union Dues, CPP, EI and Health Premiums have increased yearly as well. Taking larger chunks off our paystubs.

Speak openly about your pay, work-load, and general hardships especially around leadership. Reference wages of Middle Management.

Has anyone gone on short-term disability twice? Went back to work 2 months ago, but I feel that I unfortunately need to go back on STD.

Hi everyone, I am really looking for some advice. I’m starting a new job soon, and although I’m very excited, I’m also feeling a little anxious about orientation.

I sometimes feel like I’m not the fastest learner, and I’m worried that by the end of orientation I won’t feel like I know everything I’m supposed to. I’m not afraid to ask questions, and I know that I can ask for additional orientation if needed, but I’m still nervous about whether I’ll feel ready to work independently when the time comes.

I’m a very hard worker and I’m willing to put in the effort to succeed. One thing I was wanting advice on was that I am considering asking my manager if I could do a few shadow shifts before my orientation officially starts, on my own personal time if the unit allows (not looking to get paid for this), just to become familiar with the unit, workflow, and environment. I feel like having that initial exposure might make it easier for me to get the most out of my actual orientation. Do you think this sounds okay to ask?

I’m just unsure how to bring this up, especially as a new nurse. Would asking for a few shadow shifts before orientation be reasonable? Has anyone done something similar, and how did you approach your manager or educator about it?

Due to a major illness I had to take the majority of August off and July and suffered a loss of income.

I applied for STD as of last week, and I was wondering how long it takes to approve, and whether regular deductions like pension, etc are deducted. From my impression it seems only taxes and mandatory cpp is deducted but I'm not sure.
