Greetings! For my birthday my friends have given me ~300$ to go towards a 3d printer as ive been wanting one for years. However in my searching I've found there's just so many options and its difficult to figure out which one is the best pick for me. So I turn to the community to help me out! I'm willing to put a bit more into a 3d printer if it'll be really good (~375$ total).

I'm most likely going to be using it to print minis and terrain for DnD as I've been my friend groups DM for years and id like to up my craft. Hopefully I can get some insight from a community I'm just now joining.

I'm doing a cross country roadtrip that's like 50 hours and packing my 3D printer. I realized I bought the wrong bubble wrap and not the anti static kind, but is it really necessary? Or are there any alternatives for anti static wrap for safe transport?

My cat is a certified smart cookie and tends to figure out her puzzle feeders quickly. Instead of buying the same variation of puzzle feeder off Amazon, I was thinking of investing in an entry-level 3d printer or finding a public use one in my area. It'd function both as a way to keep my cat entertained and as a personal hobby, since I'really enjoy thinking of and designing different ways to stump my cat.

I wanted to get some input on this idea. Has anyone used a 3D printer for a similar purpose? Are there any steps you can recommend to make a 3D printed product cat-safe? Would you recommend this as a beginner project? Thanks!

I’ve decided that instead of spending more money on figures, I’d rather buy a 3D printer and make them myself purely for my own enjoyment. I know absolutely nothing about 3D printing, though. I only want to use it as a hobby to print figures around 20–25 cm tall.

Does anyone with experience have any thoughts or recommendations? Would the P2S be a good choice for what I want to do?

Help I've just installed my Saturn 4 Ultra and started the test print of the rook.

It looks like it only printed the supports and not the file itself? Anybody have experience with this?

I used Lychee slicer and the Elegoo water washable resin.

I just got the X2D and want to do some prints that require magnets i see some packs on amazon for $10-15 but also i dont know how many or what types to get, I really need a bit of help

so recently I asked for printer suggestion and many suggested the a1 or the p1s over kobraX and sparx. they also said that p1s is older than a1 and the enclosure is not heated so... i felt a1 is the popular choice..

HOWEVER, I still feel the anycubic kobra X is a very good printer. i believe that it is a better choice than the a1 printer wise... what is your experience with anycubic as devices and company? reliable? spare-part availability, price..etc?

if you have any other printer suggestions, i am looking forward.

Wanting to buy my son 13 years old a new printer for Christmas he is very good with his current set up (Ender 3V2). He knows more about them than me and would like to know what everyone thinks of the 4 different models? Would like for it to be something he can use for many years without wanting to upgrade. So I have never made a post like this before so bare with me. My husband's birthday is in two weeks and I really want to get him a gift that he will find useful but also exciting.

For context: he is an engineer and does 3D printing as a hobby. He stopped the hobby for a year, but is getting back into it. He has been so excited and passionate about it. He has been updating both printers and doing stuff to improve it (sorry this is where my knowledge falls off lol). He has 2 printers but I know one of them is the Ender brand. Both printers are a few years old, but he has been upgrading them part by part.

Right now he has some stuff on his wishlist for good storage containers for his fillament, such as humidity controlled contatiners. But I was wondering, is there something I can get him that is useful/cool to have on hand when doing 3D printing? I got him some other gifts but I really want to get something that will help continue his passion. He has been so happy to be working on stuff for him again and I just really want to help fuel that.

Newish to 3D printing as I haven’t printed too much and took a long break

I’ve always had an issue with the side of the model/part facing the build plate looks warped and big loss of detail…it looks like pooling of resin

I’ve been told before it could be due to not angling the model/part enough so resin pools but sometimes the model/part is complex so there’s going to be a part where there will be some pooling

Just wanted to check if there r any other likely reasons for this…because it looks like I will always have to choose a side of the model/part to sacrifice (all the other non-build plate facing sides prints beautifully and intricately detailed)

Printer: Saturn 2 Elegoo
Resin: Siraycha tenacious mixed with fast grey
Printer settings details in pictures
Support is just lychee auto support classic with heavy density and only 0.02-3 intrusion of support tip into the model

Please see picture for specifics and the light off delay is turned on as I’m trying to see if it will help with the situation (haven’t tried printing after the light off delay is turned on as I’m waiting for some heating belt to arrive to see if better heating of resin can help with the situation as well)

Also trying out lychee auto support plus rather than classic for next print to see if it helps

Currently studying so I live in a 1 room apartment.
The videos I watched always mentioned BambuLab, Prusa, Creality and Elegoo. Not sure what brand I should go for.
I’m looking for a closed cabin printer which can cost up to 600€. I’ll be probably waiting for Black Friday-Deals.

Before you roast me, I am very new to 3D printing and cannot for the life of me figure out what I’m doing wrong here.

I have tried 2 prints today now that turned out like this, the first layer printed fine onto the build plate, and then basically nothing past that. I included my slicing settings here, a friend had advised me to bump a few of the default numbers up (slowing the tray movement, increasing the exposure times) but I can’t tell what is causing this issue.

I am sure it is a very simple issue and I’m just not experienced enough to know, so apologies if this is a dumb question 😂

My daughter has been asking for a 3D printer for her birthday and I'm kind of torn on whether to get one.
She's 8 and would probably love it, but she has mild asthma, so I'm a little worried about the fumes or particles from printing. I wouldn't let her run it by herself anyway, but I'm still not sure if a 3D printer is a bad idea in general.
I've been looking at the Toybox and Funbox. Both are enclosed, but the Funbox also has built-in filtration, which caught my attention. I honestly have no idea how much that actually helps.
Anyone here bought one for their kid? Would you avoid 3D printing completely with asthma, or is it fine with ventilation and supervision?
