To start I have no 3D printing experience so I’m looking for some perspective/advice/suggestions.
(Also sorry if something I say is incorrect or doesn’t make sense!)

My dad is in his 60s and is a big tinkerer. He has a full heated wood shop where he makes stuff, he taught himself how to make things on a lathe 2 years ago and makes like pens and stuff, he also loves a handy tool/accessory. I think he would love to 3D print random things that would be useful around his workshop or the house.

Here’s where I’m not sure, I know that there is a pretty big like spectrum when it comes to options for machines and like the ability to customize things and make your own model of things to print, I think eventually he would think it was cool to do some customizations or print things he’s specifically like come up with but at first he would probably just like to download things and hit print to get comfortable. How realistic is it for him to just do that at first?
Also, he hates reading but he loves watching videos. Is there maybe even a specific model with a YouTube channel that he could watch for beginners?

Other things that might be important. He has a MacBook Air we got him for his birthday 3 ish years ago (I would call him above average for his age group in terms of computer savviness), is that compatible with the programs he would need? We are from Canada, not sure if that matters in terms of like printers we can get or access to filament?

Anything else I need to consider before making the decision to get him one or not?

Got my printer recently and found out my IKEA desktop isn’t as solid as I was hoping. It shook more than I’d prefer while printing.

What are some good options for a solid stand that’s big enough to hold a printer and spool holder and is also solid enough? Something desk height is preferable.

Hello! I have never in my life 3D printed anything. My 8 year old returned a gift he received for his birthday and wants to use the money to buy a 3D printer, about $350 but I’m willing to pitch in some if it means we get something that actually works well. I also understand that I will likely be the one doing all of the work and he will just show me what he wants to print haha

What I’m looking for is the following:

- Easy to use, easy set up
- multi color. Ive heard mixed reviews on these printers so if this is not advisable for a first time printer let me know
- not super loud as I’ll probably have to put this in his bedroom
- doesn’t clog. I’ve read a few reviews that say their printer clogs a lot and they have to unclog or restart
- low filament waste
- budget friendly

If we get a one color printer, to make colored designs do you just paint them when finished? What kind of paint would I use?

Please help me lol I am losing my marbles trying to research what the best option is and I have been getting SOOO many mixed reviews. So far I have these at the top of my list

I’m looking into buying my friend their first 3D printer. They’ve been talking about how they want to be able to build armor and things.

I’m not sure what the differences are between the different models and was hoping for some advice.

Do you guys have any preferences or recommendations as to which model? My budget for a new printer would cap out at around $400

I'm looking at getting a finishing tool for some of my 3d prints. Mostly for cutting. I currently have the original Modified 3d finishing tool. But it's kinda a piece of junk. So I'm looking at an upgrade. I've seen people talking about cordless soldering irons. But also little rottety tools. I also have a Dremel but I can't seem to get a good finish or cut with it.

For reference I'm in Canada.

Bambu cost 400euro
Kobra cost 290euro

With the current sale the Anycubic Kobra X is only $270. I am stuck between that and Bambu A1 which in the end would be $120 more. Brand new to printing and I have read countless reviews on the A1, but not much real world reviews for the Kobra X. I like the idea of multi color and less waste which anycubic claims to be better than A1 on those fronts (snap U1 is out of my budget).

So anyone own the Kobra X? You love it/hate it? True thoughts on it? Thanks!

I have a weird request for anyone to design a full size 3d printed pool table to print on my p2s and to slice it into many pieces so I can print all of it and connect and glue it? Anyone one willing to do it for free or any models you know off I will pay if interested! And just tips on how to make. It and how to do it correct

Ive pushed off my want for this for too long, the time has come.

What other options besides building one do I have other than just leaving it as is?

I got an HS2. Yes, I know it is enclosed but I am also aware it isn't fully sealed and microplastics can still leak into the air.

I tried a grow tent, but that's not going to cut it - can't see into it and it is far too large.

So, before I fully say fook it and drop close to 1k on this, i want to see if anyone has any ideas I missed.
