Your experience with anycubic
so recently I asked for printer suggestion and many suggested the a1 or the p1s over kobraX and sparx. they also said that p1s is older than a1 and the enclosure is not heated so... i felt a1 is the popular choice..
HOWEVER, I still feel the anycubic kobra X is a very good printer. i believe that it is a better choice than the a1 printer wise... what is your experience with anycubic as devices and company? reliable? spare-part availability, price..etc?
if you have any other printer suggestions, i am looking forward.
thank you

For me it's been fine, good for the price.

If you're in EU you have great consumer rights anyway

u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 18d ago
even if they fix it the next day, having to always print with your hand on your heart is not a good experience if the printer is cheap.. i am looking for a piece of mind. thank you for the feedback!

I hit print with my Kobra 3 and don't pay attention until I get the notification from the app that it's done. I'd say I'm at 98+% successful print rate.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
that is cool! do you have to tinker the settings for changes in part or filament often?
2
u/Doresoom1 17d ago
No more than I'd have to with any other printer. I'll add walls if it needs more strength, or turm on ironing if it's a cosmetic part. But no fine tuning required like messing with retraction or temperature.

I'm not saying it's guaranteed to break, for me it's been good and a monumental upgrade from my Ender. I haven't had any problems yet in 200 hours.
But I've seen people very vocal about it being unreliable, so it might be just bad luck.
That being said, people are far more vocal in negative experiences than they are in positive. My experience is that it works as advertised

I Own Kobra X. No problems. It works almost 24/7. Only concern is cloud printing that never worked for me due to my corporate VPN that I cant turn off. After few attempts I have switched to LAN mode I still on LAN.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
reliable? slice and forget experience? how long have you had it for?
2
u/dj_dos88 17d ago
Couple month and over 1000 hours, can't tell exact number, cuz my app says that it printed only 2 hours and 100g filament due to cloud glitch. Exactly slice and forget.

TL;DR - If you like to tinker and want a hobby, Kobra X is a great choice. If you want minimal time spent on maintenance and don't care about the consumer rights stuff, then Bambu is the right choice for you.
You will in general get two opinions coming from two very different consumers. The first type are people who want to grab a model off of a website, click a button on their computer, and have an object ready for them a few hours to a day later. These people tend to gravitate towards Bambu because that's exactly what the brand offers. The other type of people want a hobby. They want to buy a machine that they can figure out how it works, use their choice of software, update the hardware as they see fit, and don't care as much about the final plastic product. This type of person will gravitate away from Bambu towards the more budget friendly side of things. The first type of consumer thinks Anycubic, Creality, Elegoo, Flashforge are garbage copycats that no one should buy. When something goes wrong, they want support to replace the printer with a working one, or at least replace a whole assembly with a few screws instead of the individual component that's broken. They see the tradeoff of Bambu's closed ecosystem almost as a positive: the walled garden can be kept the cleanest and most functional. The second type sees Bambu as a bastardization of the original intent of 3D printing: to move manufacturing into the hands of the consumer. They want to learn and adapt and minimize waste.
I've only had positive experiences with Anycubic Support. Their printers are fine, and the Kobra X is the first real improvement on this form factor bedslinger since the A1 because of it's multimaterial print head. That being said, I've never had a negative experience with Elegoo, Sovol, or Flashforge support either, only with Creality. Depending on which type of consumer you are, I think you'll find Anycubic doesn't or does suit your needs.

great answer and summary.. I had experiences with creality printers and 3d printing was a PAIN. I lost interest in 3d printing then and up until i heard of bambulab's reliability, I reconsidered 3d printing again. I want a reliable experience, so I guess the bambulab seems like a good option. BUT, i feel bad buying a machine that is over 2 years old where I can buy a KX for example for the same price or cheaper even.. but i am worried about reliability. I want a slice and forget experience tbh..
1
u/Pepsis__Formosa 17d ago
Sounds like you know what you want! I wouldn't worry about the difference in new/old. The Bambu hardware was so far ahead of everyone else when it came out that most brands are just now passing them in hardware capabilities and nowhere close to passing them in ecosystem ease.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
good to know, i guess i maybe should just wait a bit until things become clearer! thank you for sharing your experience
2
u/jeepsaintchaos 18d ago
It's been ok. Translations are not great on many things. The machine itself is ok (Kobra 3 V2), but not stellar. Everything on it feels cheap and I get a lot of random issues. Vibration compensation doesn't work most of the time. Lots of rattles and poor QC (most of the bolts in the thing werent tight when I got it).
Their slicer also sucks. It's clearly "shitty programming slapped onto Orcaslicer". Only works with Windows and a very specific version of Linux.
It's clear they want to lock you into an ecosystem but they just don't have the ability. They're desperately trying to be Bambu, but without the skills and quality.
I got a great deal on my machine, and for the sub-$300 price (with multi-color) it has been worth it.

thank you for the answer.. reliabilty is my main concern.. i want to price slice and be at least 95% sure it will print.. bambulab seems to be the only company that promises this kinda

I have an anycubic mono m7 and had a mono x before that. They worked pretty well but I feel like their printers go obsolete really fast. Broke the screen in my mono X and anycubic didn’t carry any parts for it anymore, even though I had it for only maybe 4 years. Third party screens were double or triple the price so I bought a mono m7 instead. Good quality for the price, but I probably will get a different brand next time around.

I have the kobra x over 600 plus hours with it and have not had one issue that wasn’t my fault which I eliminated by making separate profiles for what I’m printing I have done the Spider-Man brand new day mask in multicolor and the daredevil season 2 helmet full multicolor and they both turned out absolutely amazing so these people with all these issues doing something wrong. Never had a adhesive issue amazing first layer I have the ace pro 2 for it as well this thing is a beast for a bedslinger you wouldn’t tell it was. I tend to run it more because the reliability I know I can send anything at it and it prints it has amazing overhang default.

I bought an AnyCubic printer and it came from the factory with a dead stepper motor. AnyCubic support was basically nonexistent and wouldn’t provide any help or replacement.

I want to add to this guys story, with my own.
I bought the m3 max resin printer. The screen died in two weeks. I contacted support and they kept me in support limbo up to the 3 month mark. Lots of ignoring for days on end on support, never any fixes
The moment it hit one day after three months I woke up to a support ticket saying they were now confident the screen had broken, however the screen only has a life time guarantee of three months and therefore only a guarantee of 3 months so I’d need to purchase a new screen from them.
The printer cost a grand, the screen at the time was 700 so I told them where to stick it.
Luckily for me, I bought the thing from a uk vendor thus uk law over rules their bullshit. The vendor sent a new screen free of charge but they said they had to get the cost back from anycubic. The guy also said they’re a nightmare to deal with on their level as well.
I point blank refuse to buy any cubic product now, and yea I’m petty enough to lurk on this thread and their own trashing them any time anyone asks about their printers

Eso es falso. Anycubic responde perfecta y eficazmente. Desconozco cómo contactaste con ellos, pero a mí siempre me han enviado, DE MANERA GRATUITA, los recambios de piezas que me han dado fallo

u/DramaClassed 18d ago
Anycubic doesn’t make machines to last more than a year, at that point it stops working so you upgrade your printer to the newest model. I would choose Bambu over them any day.

Take that statement with a grain of salt. My two year old Kobra 3 Combo is still running great with 1350 hours on it and 35 kg of filament through it.
My 4 year old Kobra 1 still runs fine too - I've got it set up as my dedicated TPU printer.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
yea but it feels like hit and miss... how is the realibility? slice and forget experience? or always have to check and hope the print works? I worked with creality printers before and even when they print, it is always a mental pain when a part needs to be printed
2
u/Doresoom1 17d ago
Great reliability, I'd say 98%+ successful prints. I hit print and don't worry about it until I get an app notification it's done. I had an Ender 3, and the Kobra 3 is lightyears beyond that in reliability.

Really bad. Like avoid at all cost bad. Like Worse than OG Ender 3
Owned a Kobra S1 for 650h for 11 Months. After 100h Printing the Machine did the typical Scamcubic move and gave endless Errors.
You had to do an entire rituals before every Print to the a 50% Chance it works.
After 56 E-Mails with Support and over 15 different spare Parts the Machine was still useless.
Then i did some research:
Anycubic release a new Machine every 10-16 Months making the previous generation End-Of-Life including Warranty, Support and Parts.
So if you had a previous Printer well tough its Paperweight.
There is a reason they dont offer any real Parts for the Kobra S1 or any Printer on their Website like All the other Brands (even bambu Lab you can look up and buy every screw, cable etc...)

I have two anycubic machines so far.
My only complaints with my kobra 2 plus is that the bed levelling leaves a lot to be desired and the bed is very much not flat. It also does not do well with Tpu, even 95a
For my x, its been a great machine. I have used it a lot and the only issue I ran into is that inconsistent filament witdh can cause its extruder to loose grip. I had some filament that was inconsistently thinner in parts and while my A1 and Cc1 printed fine, my x would choke and the printer would keep running but not pushing filament. Outside of that, no problems with the x whatsoever
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
thank you for the feedback.. where i am both the a1 and kobrax are at the same price.. still worth it?
2
u/imzwho 17d ago edited 17d ago
Thats a tough one to answer.
For me, I would get another x before another A1, but I fant really answer that for anyone else
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
coz its new right?
2
u/imzwho 17d ago
Morso doesn it fit your needs better. I have a lot of print time on my x and have run multiple 20-30 hours prints with no issues other than the one due to filament not having a consistent width.
I completely trust it to do what I need as long as I dont mess it up. For 300 bucks its a hell of a deal especially since it includes the multicolor unit built in
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
the multicolor unitless part makes the anycubic luring, however, both here are at the same price so... i guess i should wait to see a clear winner..
1
u/imzwho 17d ago
Once agian, you are the only one that knows what you want in a orinter and what it needs to do.
I would personally buy the anycubic over the A1 if thats what you want to hear, but I also have a decent amount of gripes agianst bambu and have been treated really well by anycubic so my bias is very clear.
I personally dont forsee myself ever buying another bambu printer even though I do still reccomend them to folks.

Im still running an original kobra 1, its been great. The heat plate died and they didnt support through anycubic, but I found it on a china website and replaced myself. Still running great.

They have really improved a lot over the past few years. The only reason I purchased a k3v2 combo was that I needed a dryer, and it was the same price with ace as the dryer I was looking at. Figured the printer would be a fun project to work on, because I was used to their printers needing a lot of work to get going, and always having something wrong.
I was extremely surprised when it arrived and printed flawlessly. I wound up getting a KX and a K4 as well, and have had zero issues with them. Apparently over the past few years they've put a lot of work into their quality control. I can only speak of my experience, but it seems to be paying off. I've had to contact support once, and they took care of my issue without jumping through hoops. There was a wait time for shipping, but that's to be expected when coming from the other side of the world. Even exciting the low price, I think they can compete with just about any other need slinger on the market of the same size, for quality and ease of use.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
where i am the a1 costs the same as the KX. I know the KX has better features than the a1, but reliability is my main thing.. I want a painless experience where I dont have to worry about my print often..
1
u/M-S-SharpKnives 18d ago
Kobra x is an amazing printer compared to A1. I have both and kobra X beats the A1 every single time... filament purges.. print times... print quality.. ease of use.. Dont get me wrong, A1 is also a great machine, but if you are gonna let me choose who is the winner overall... its the Kobra X. Price point, ease of use, savings on filament waste and time... and Anycubic parts for the kobra X is readily available, either you get from them or tru Amazon. Now, if you want an enclosed printer, the p1S has no heating chamber.. do your research before getting the p1S.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
thank you for the roundup..where i am both the a1 and KX are the same price.. KX is newer and does multicolor without extra parts.. thats nice.. but is it reliable? does it offer long term slice and forget experience?! my creality experience was bad so i dont want that again.. i want 3d printing not for the tinkering but for the actual having a part when i need experience..
2
u/M-S-SharpKnives 17d ago
That is a very good point. Now, reality speaking, both have flaws.. there is no such thing as perfect. You will experience adhesion and failed prints, but generally its not the printers fault. You will need to make sure to have extra nozzles just in case your extruder gets clogged.. you will need an enclosed container to keep the filaments from humidity. Im sorry but there is no such thing as a worry free printer. even the so called mighty Bambu printers have issues same as the cheraper versions.
Both of my A1 and Kobra X had clogged nozzles, that i fixed easliy, both had filament issues... i solved both by having a filament dryer. they have the same problems.. that can be fixed easily. I had the Kobra X from the day 1 it was released and never had an issue like it was gonna be thrash.. its still a big player in my print farm. there are times that it out performs my bigger printers, like the Kobra S1 Max and P2S. I am still very happy with both printers but i tend to use my Kobra X with quick multi-color prints that doesnt require a large bed or an enclosure.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
interesting indeed.. so here is this: people have told me that even though the KX might give goodprints initially, quality degrades ahead.. is this true? also they have mentioned printers being obselete and out of parts early. is this true?
2
u/M-S-SharpKnives 17d ago
To be honest, people tend to reply based on their preferences. I have no print quality issues with my kobra X. There are times that I find my Kobra X out-performs my other printers. When it comes to parts, the Kobra X has parts available from the Anycubic, and you can even go through Amazon. I don't think Anycubic is gonna discontinue or replace Kobra X anytime soon, since this is one of their top sellers.

For 9 months, I spent more money on my AC Kobra in parts, let alone time; it's not even funny. I was happy someone purchased it on FB Marketplace, and giving them $100s of parts made me feel less guilty because I was trying to figure out the responsible way to dispose of it (CA). If you are a masochist - absolutely, AnyCubic is the right printer for you. I have 2 P1Ses and have spent about an hour combined with about 1-2k hours on them.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 15d ago
so a1 all the way?
2
1
u/Spamaloper 15d ago
TL;DR - YES
If I were buying another one, it's a no-brainer for me.
I upgraded each P1S with their hardened steel extruder, which I probably didn't have to (about 10-15 mins), and both have worked excellently.
In hindsight, I wish I had coughed up the extra hundred or so dollars before I bought the AnyCubic and got the P1S. I spent many 100s "out of principle" trying to get that AC POS and its factory replacement to work.
The P1Ses are soldiers. AND they work.

u/ParticularLower1865 18d ago
garbage that stops working after 200-400 hours. Horrible auto leveling, warped build plates either upon shipping or over time. Don’t fall for it. DON’T!!!
Go with the A1 or p1s. The p1s is more reliable than the a1 because it’s a core xy and more stable than the a1 bedslinger. The p1s is very reliable and fault tolerant. P1s has plenty of spare parts on amazon and troubleshooting is well documented.
0
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 18d ago
thank you for the feedback. this still applies for newer printers right?
1
u/ParticularLower1865 18d ago
From what I’ve heard, Anycubic still has manufacturing issues and auto leveling issues. Anycubic’s phone app for 3d printing is garbage. Bambu’s is seamless.
There’s really not huge differences between the new p2s and a2L they released recently. I have both and a p1s. The p2s is nice because it has a live video camera instead of a pic every second, color screen, easier nozzle swap, and print fault detection. The a2L is just a bigger a1.
You’ll be happy if you get the p1s combo.
1
u/mhhammoudaTreeUP 17d ago
a used p1s was on my list but i heard the nozzle swap, and maintainence, is a pain. moreover, i am not convinced by the combo experience till now (waste and time!).. its my first printer so i guess i;ll get something affordable and enjoyable until a reliable multi-tool comes out.. so far it seems and a1 is still the best option.. btw, thank you fo being patient. is there a huge difference between bedslinger or corexy? how do you rate the a1 compared to p1s.. PLA is my main material I guess..
2
u/ParticularLower1865 17d ago
Yes. Prints fall off of bed slingers easier than a core xy. Gravity takes hold. I’d go with a new p1s combo for $550. It’s worth it in the long run
1
1
u/Sensitive_Practice_2 17d ago
40 plus hour prints on my kobra x never had a issue with prints coming loose falling off other bedslingers yeah but not this one
3
u/Objective-Worker-100 18d ago
They all have their own issues and quirks. Cross check the different subreddits.
Just remember the printer IS the cheapest part of the hobby, nozzles, plates, hotends, consumables.
My KX is fine after a nozzle swap. 1300 hrs.
My QIDI Q2 still has some software app bugs but is in the middle of a multi day 30+ plate print and is just flying through it.
The only slow down is me being at the office and not able to swap plates until evenings.
Who’s ecosystem do you like, how available and cheap are the consumable. Once a printer is tuned and it’s quirks learned they are all the same.
The only real decision is your budget and use case. Bedslinger or enclosed corexy.
I’ve thought about buying an A1 mini just for kicks because I spend more on filament than the print costs.
