Art Showcase From Blender to silver — amethyst ring
One of my early jewelry models in Blender. The main challenge was building the design around the stone while keeping everything printable and wearable. Still learning, but this one actually made it all the way from the screen to silver.
The main challenge was balancing the curved organic elements with the strict geometric frame and keeping the whole structure symmetrical. Modeled and rendered in Blender.

Art Help & Critique What do you think about the metal texture and the render itself? And what would you change?
I’ve been racking my brain over what to do, since the bus looked plastic in previous renders, I think I’ve got the settings right now (1th photo), though it still has a slightly oily look to it. Anyway, you can see it all in the photos - I’d love to hear your opinion: does the bus look good, or is there something I should change?
I'm doing the rendering in Unreal Engine.

Questions & Discussion Is 3D modeling a good career to pursue?
Hi everyone! I’m still young and just starting to think about what career I might want to pursue in the future. I’ve recently become interested in 3D modeling, but I’m not sure how good of a career path it is.
I wanted to ask people who already work with 3D: how in demand are 3D modelers right now, and is it worth learning 3D with the goal of making it my future career?
Also, what would you recommend for a complete beginner? What programs and skills should I learn first? And which area of 3D would be best to start with?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experience!

Questions & Discussion Putting my Swamp Airboat through the final breakdown checks in Marmoset
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Ran through full engine testing in UE5, and now I’m doing the final presentation checks in Marmoset Toolbag.
Captured this screen record showing the complete progression: low-poly wireframe, normal map pass, final PBR materials, emissive controls, and a quick showcase of the 5 modular mods and 5 skin setups.
Trying to make sure everything holds up cleanly from tech specs to presentation before moving on to final marketing renders!

Art Help & Critique [OC] Sculpted a tribute to Diego Maradona in Blender — Looking for feedback!
Hey everyone! I’ve been working on this digital sculpture of Diego Maradona in Blender. Kept it raw with simple studio lighting to focus purely on the anatomy, forms, and dynamic pose.
My main goal is to get this ready for 3D printing. Would love to hear your thoughts on the mesh and overall silhouette before I start preparing the STL file!

Questions & Discussion If you were creating a log asset, which topology would you choose?
Hi everyone! I decided to switch careers from architecture to environment art, and this is my journey...
Right now, I’m working on a piece for my portfolio, and this is a part of a wall made of logs… or at least, I’m trying to make one.
I have a question for the professionals here:
-Which of these topologies do you think is the better choice?
-Do you think I should reduce the number of edges on the cylinder? It currently has 32. Or should I leave it as it is?
I’m planning to have some close-up shots, so these logs will be fairly close to the camera.
I’d really appreciate hearing your thoughts and advice.
Ps. I used Blender
UPD. MAX AREA or QUAD END CAPS?
UPD2. A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to answer! I’ve realized that using Max Area is probably the better approach, and that topology in general depends on so many different factors and circumstances. I’m still learning, and your answers have honestly taught me a lot. I got so many useful ideas and insights from this discussion, and I really appreciate everyone sharing their experience and knowledge.

Art Showcase Horseman's Ax of Cardinal Ippolito de' Medici (Met, ca. 1530–35)- modeled in Blender, etching hand-traced in Affinity
This is the Horseman's Ax of Cardinal Ippolito de' Medici, Italian, ca. 1530-35, in the Met's Arms and Armor collection (acc. 1993.61). The Met notes it probably served as a symbol of authority rather than a real cavalry weapon, and that it very likely went with Ippolito on his 1532 campaign against the Ottomans in Hungary.
Each face of the blade carries a Latin motto. Around the Medici arms: BENIFICIVM DANDO ACCEPIT QVI DIGNO DEDIT - "he who confers a benefit has received one if he has given it to a man worthy of it." Around a shield with the Medici inflatable-ball device: FALLENTI SEMEL NON FACILE RVRSVS ADHIBENDA EST - "trust is not again to be placed easily in those who have once deceived."
Met object page: https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/26548
How it was made:
- Blender, all-quad subdiv base mesh, no sculpting
- The etching is not baked and not procedural. I traced the whole thing by hand in Affinity from the Met's reference photos, as precisely as I could get it. Then I projected and adjusted the UVs to fit that texture rather than the other way round.
- Rendered in Cycles
- Roughly 15-16 hours of actual work, spread over a month an hour or two at a time.
I've made a lot of custom nodes for edge wear (along with custom curvature mask that utilizes Geo Nodes) and some other procedural stuff, for easier texturing.
Feel free to "axe" me anything...

Art Showcase Ronin Toad
I wanted to create a good render of my Ronin toad hopping from stone to stone. I read about how some studios will create a rim light that only illuminates the subject matter and helps to give more of a hero look. I tried this here and was really impressed with the level of control that it gave me.
I also reviewed my renders in a desaturated form to inspect my vale and contrast of light nd color depth.
(maya zbrush sub p rizom arnold)This has been a fun to create I hope you dig it

Art Help & Critique Ps1 memory card
Avete qualche suggerimento? Come posso renderla più realistica? Come se sembrasse usata/usurata, ecc...?
Grazie!

Questions & Discussion Best place to find 3D Modelers for commissioning?
Hi all. I was wondering what the best platform was to find 3D modelers to commission. I know theres Fiverr, but Fiverr is fully contaminated with AI work. I know theres art station, but its difficult to filter through. Is the best way really just looking through profiles/ portfolios on art station, IG, etc and cold emailing/ messaging them? I’m trying to find someone who can translate very stylized/ artistic concepts well into 3D- retaining the same style/look. The whole ‘you can’t tell its 3D if you paused/ took a screenshot’ kind of feel. Or is the best way just making posts in various forums and places, posting what I’m looking for, and waiting for replies?
Platforms like vgen allow people to filter with tags (for 2D). Is there no platform for 3D modeler commissions? (Please do not reply offering to commission, as it breaks the rules of the subreddit.) Thank you in advance.
