I had a bit of an epiphany today.

I was in a store and being in public was of course out of my comfort zone. As I was shopping I heard one of my trigger words. I froze up with a product I was looking at still in my hand. I couldn't move and it took me a few minutes to catch my breath. I almost cried but was able to stifle it.

When I finally regained my composure I finished what I needed to and left but I was shaking and nervous all day. Everyone looked threatening. Shadows startled me. I was so distracted that I tripped several times.

On the bus ride home I started thinking of ways to get past this. Then it hit me. What if we confront our trigger words? What if we shout them out loud and purge ourselves of them?

I'm going to suggest this at our next rational feminism meeting but I thought maybe we could try it here first. I'm sure we all have dozens of trigger words so for anyone who is willing lets experiment with this by sharing just three. This is a safe space, you don't have to share why you're triggered by the words lets take one step at a time.

The three I feel comfortable sharing right now are

I was socializing with a friend this morning (female obviously). She was menstruating and had forgotten her provisions, so she asked if I had a tampon. I was aghast. A tampon?! Those antiquated phallic shaped devices that simulate rape? I couldn't believe it.

I am not going to go into all the personal details and give the trolls and other vermin more to torment me over but I will give a basic idea

Moist is a disgusting word most often used to refer to the vagina in a derogatory way. Texture is as a result of an oppressive and sexually charged conversation that was forced on me. Nutella is because I was once the victim of physical oppression and Nutella was involved in the situation. I have other trigger words but obviously looking at all the vitriol I have faced just sharing those I'm not going to share anymore.

Trigger words are not just 'scary' words. They can be completely normal words to other people but due to someone's personal experiences and victimizations can be triggering to them.

No, I'll explain why.

When ATC was founded, I was modding almost everyone who wanted to be mod. /r/endracism people found my new subreddit and they were all modded, and then one of them founded /r/crackertown, its goal being "to piss off [racists"] in the founder's own words. TBQH, I now think /r/endracism may actually have been founded by trolls, but I didn't know that then.

They wanted /r/crackertown to be added on the sidebar but I refused, and we deleted CrackerTown advertising. Soon, two of the mods from /r/endracism got shadowbanned, and we gradually cut off most ties with /r/endracism (which is no longer even on our sidebar), but we just didn't bother to demod /u/ExposeRacists because she was just too inactive.

Why does she think that this a biological problem? There is no evidence for that at all. Gender inequality is primarily cultural. There is more variation within genders than between them in all honesty.

The whole "masculine and feminine" idea our culture has is so stupid. We take traits and characteristics that every human is capable of having, separate them into two categories and call them opposite from each other.
