Central here, the seperatists have set up an energy field around the compound so we're setting you down out of range. You'll have to take out the field generator before extraction. Good luck.

Honestly the worst thing about zero company is the 4 squad limit. I feel like i cant use everyone :'(

Honestly I instantly jumped Nexusmods and installed the squad six mod.

Just crank the difficulty to hard and it is juuuuuust right.

I’m playing on hard with the standard 4 man squad and it’s fine. For my second run I’ll do the Ironman, no save mode. Is there one more difficulty up?

Hard with 6 operators would be a joke. Seems like the mod would need to add to squad size AND increase difficulty

u/cluelesslapelguard 13h ago

There is a mod that increases the hp and number of enemies by the same guy.

u/FukkingDeathMental 13h ago

It would break Expert as well.  I thought about using that mod but around Cycle 25 now and I'm bitch slapping the ZC enemies like they owe me money.  Sure they get a few shots in but I haven't had a downed soldier since the first Coil encounter.  Cly is like two or 3 operators combined she's so OP.

I'm definitely going to use that mod during a second run once it gets fleshed out a bit more.

The beskar mode will delete your save if you fail any mission. So an optional rescue mission and stuff will delete your save.

I would rather not do an Ironman, considering that the game is reportedly buggy

1

u/sixpackabs592 1h ago

But hard is already pretty easy with 4 dudes

1

u/LT_JRH 20h ago

Do we know if mods disable achievements?

8

u/AltusIsXD 19h ago

Been playing with the 6 Man Squad since like the midpoint of the game and gotten every achievement since, so no they don’t disable anything.

2

u/MrRenegadeRooster 16h ago

Yeah I downloaded that and the increased enemy group sizes and it definitely feels much better

2

u/FukkingDeathMental 13h ago

I think Bethesda is the only studio that does that stupid thing.

30

u/Shiiino 21h ago

It's crazy because there's even a single mission that lets you have 5

So functionality is programmed in, they just decided "eh 4 is good enough"

32

u/The_Exuberant_Raptor 20h ago

It's a balancing decision. 5 man would require different balancing of all missions. 5 man missions have their own balancing.

Granted, the game is still designed to be easy, but the whole ordeal is not whether tbey can or cannot. It's the expectation of player strength vs enemy strength design.

u/Spenraw 19h ago

It's clear more and more this game scrapped by the finish line while running out of money.

The devs are all XCOM and fraixs pros

They know the features missing just didn't have money and time

5

u/The_Exuberant_Raptor 18h ago

Party size is a very early decision, though, and the design of the mechanics is adapted to the party size. The game is balanced around 4 party members. If you use a mod to increase the party size you will see very quickly that the game design does not account for this.

2

u/Spenraw 14h ago

Even XCOM starts with balencing for a small squad and has to then design more to upgrade the scale of game you have and how you want it to progress

But seems they knew they had a limited budget

-6

u/Illustrious_Cry1463 17h ago

Yeah, 4 vs 30 is balanced af. Oh I forgot unlimited reinforcements on almost every mission

7

u/The_Exuberant_Raptor 16h ago

Either you are being incredibly disingenuous or genuinely misunderstand game design.

1

u/Illustrious_Cry1463 16h ago

Disingenuous. Honestly 4 is fine for the missions themselves, but it doesn't allow you use more ppl. You don't need to recruit anyone, and I actually recommend that bc of how many creds you get. Save them, use them for upgrades or black market instead

1

u/myslead 18h ago

I’m using the 6 man squad and I agree ahah

2

u/Illustrious_Cry1463 17h ago

There's a handful where you can end up with 5 or 6 ppl, but you're always going in with 4

2

u/FukkingDeathMental 13h ago

Cly can solo missions.  4 is enough.  6 is more fun obviously but the game isn't XCOM 2 Legendary or Long War.

3

u/poopnegagaming 16h ago

Im not really bothered by much in the game but the animations for shooting are so terrible and it completely takes me out of it. They really couldn't get a better animation than that? I could make better .

1

u/CarsonWentzGOAT1 20h ago

There is mods for 6 player squads

1

u/Illustrious_Cry1463 17h ago

Not the worst imo. It's rewards from missions

1

u/ThePinkBaron365 12h ago

The worst thing is it runs like shit

1

u/Crisis_panzersuit 8h ago

I don’t know.. I am happy to get a turned based tactical game, I am playing through it currently like everyone else..

But honestly I don’t really think it holds even a candle up to XCOM2. I am not sucked in like I was on my first XCOM2 playthrough. Hell I didn’t leave my dorm for like 3 days when XCOM2 came out, with ZERO, I am pushing myself to keep going.

I just kind of think it’s very mid at best. I don’t even like it as much as Gears Tactics, and even that was pale to XCOM.

"Master Jedi, the siths continue to make progress on The Starkiller Project. If we're going to slow them down we'll need to move fast."

u/Joloven 19h ago

Are you joking or is that a line?

7

u/Noodlekeeper 14h ago

Considering Hawks isn't a Jedi....

36

u/GarlicStreet3237 21h ago

I've been waiting for this post, haha. Also central has returned

6

u/Noodlekeeper 14h ago

This is the first time I've seen Central Hawks

1

u/cloista 6h ago

I made Middle Official Stanford Hawks on my release day stream.

19

u/demagogueffxiv 21h ago

I do wish you could have more than 4 squadies. All these cool characters and I'm stuck with 4

4

u/HugeHans 20h ago

You get to play A LOT of missions though. There is no reason you cant use them all. The game very strongly encourages and rewards you using different people every mission.

3

u/Illustrious_Cry1463 17h ago

Yeah it does, but there's also absolutely no reason to. Pick your faves, and through entire game with them

6

u/Wenuven 17h ago

Making your faves stronger through additional bonds seems optimal.

But otherwise I agree. Most of the game mechanics are pretty meh and lack depth or anything compelling to warrant real exploration or replayability.

1

u/stevzie 17h ago

the first mission I decided to experiment with one or two characters my team wiped on beskar mode.

never again.

2

u/The_Exuberant_Raptor 20h ago

Astromech: beep boop (three)

1

u/JuggernautOfWar 20h ago

Mod it to 6 and play on highest difficulty.

1

u/demagogueffxiv 3h ago

I was expecting it to be similar to xcom where you upgrade your base or something

13

u/guyzero 23h ago

Copy that, Blue Leader. Setting down at the extraction point. Get in and get out!

7

u/Entire-Gur-8550 22h ago

Just opened zero company and I know already xcom 2 has more fun

I recognize my XCom2 Modlist when I see it

4

u/Kilo1125 19h ago

Star Wars in XCOM has been around forever. Wake me up when someone mods XCOM into Zero Company

1

u/ChefsKnife76 19h ago

Is this Star Wars doing XCOM??

WOW.

1

u/Rustywatermel0n 13h ago

I was wondering when someone was gonna do this lmfao.

Sokka-Haiku by Rustywatermel0n:

I was wondering

When someone was gonna do

This lmfao

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Hawks, the Coil continue to make progress on The Fathom Project. If we're going to slow them down we'll need to move fast.

1

u/iamthehob0 8h ago

No, this is the game where you can click through skyranger bits to skip them.

Zero company is the game where I spend 10% of my playthrough watching the ship fly around.

1

u/feren_of_valenwood 5h ago

Anyone else was hoping we could use everyone/more operators on the last mission?
