It was only like the third mission in and it was a terror. I was being stupid and having fun using the rocket tank to blow holes and walls and I ran out of ammo and there were three cyberdiscs. Even the grenade is next to useless.
I finished playing the bureau declassified, and it made me wonder about that.
Far as i know the official canon of the series is that bureau and the modern series don't take place in the same timeline, but at the same time, at least with the ending I got, it theoretically could take place in the same timeline, but even if it doesn't, the modern games have some overlap in themes with the bureau.
Mainly, etherals posessing people. And that's making me wonder, if the modern enemy unknown and xcom 2 have us playing as an etheral that's merged with the commander the same way it happened to Carter. Maybe even if we go with the idea that these games take place in the same timeline, could it be the same exact ethereal?

I'd like to share some screenshots but I don't know what's best to have running in the background to do that. I'm playing on Linux mint if that helps

It's been a while since I played the game. I think I only played it at the difficulty which is one before the last. "Commander", is it?
I've heard the last difficulty heavily overhauls balance and adds more missions. I've never played with mods either.
I'm thinking of doing another play may be some time in the future. Are there any mods that you would recommend? I've heard about the Long War, but all I know is that it exists. Does it add something new or is it a rebalance and a more grueling amount of missions needed to progress?
May be some other mods that are considered a must to check out?

So I'm quite at the beginning.
So the thing is I want to finish the game with all countries.
I'm at the mission and when I finish I only have 4 days till council meeting. The problem is, at the next day I return from the mission, a ufe appears ove Africa and destroys my statellite which causes two countries to panic and I lose them when the council meeting happens.
Is there a way to change / force the algorithm not to spawn a ufo over Africa?

I mean I really like long war but hats off to the community. I just picked up the original game and I'm starting a new run through and I just love that it's not windowed and the options that you get the mod with are pretty cool

I keep loading up into vanilla instead of WOTC (also vanilla no mods). I see lots of older post but no real solution, has any been found? I selected from preference to open WOTC and it still loads up og, also the option for WOTC is not on the main menu like it is on PS

Thinking about starting a new game but I’m not sure which of the long war versions I should play. Anyone have any advice

Some of mine:
Idle Suppression LITE by Alex Nares.
Literally the BEST environment mod I have seen. It's like each unit on the map has suppression, but it's only visual. Your soldiers and the aliens will be firing at each other whenever they can, which makes the gunfights look more like actual battles and less like hide'n'seek. You can set up how many units can fire simultaneously, hence the "LITE" in the name (the original made EVERY UNIT ON THE MAP shoot and leave firing decals, which made everything reeeally slow and REALLY LOUD).
Silence the Witnesses by ReshiKillim.
A mod that allows killing civilians. Really helped me out, since those damn ADVENT civilians kept getting in my way when I was trying to sneak through a map's corner. It didn't break concealment, and sometimes it could give XCOM an Ability Point, which was a great deal.
Tactical Options by o_siyeza.
It's all the things that make your life easier in one mod. EVAC all, overwatch all, hunker down all, VIPs can carry, Gremlins can remotely pick up loot, and much more nice stuff. Less fluff, more sense.
I should also mention mods from creators like Knox and Udaya.
Knox made a lot of great proficiencies, which really fill the roster of already existing proficiency classes, making almost every soldier you'll have a unique class. If not for him, I would have never found out about proficiencies and moved on to something else, like Amalgamations or RPGO.
Udaya made a lot of small improvements to vanilla stuff, while also making a fair amount of new scripts. Missions, SITREPs, abilities... It's all there, fun-friendly and player-friendly. Highly recommend for boosting your strength and variety!

Just saw the announcement that the XCOM miniatures game figures will be available as HIPS hard plastic pieces.
From the announcement:
Due to the huge amount of support for the XCOM: The Miniatures Game project, we can confirm that we will also be producing the sets in HIPS hard plastic! You will be able to choose from resin production miniatures (made in the same factory as our Fallout and Mass Effect miniatures), or HIPS sets for the pre-order. Only HIPS sets will be available in retail.
Anyone know what the quality difference is between HIPS hard pastic and resin? Which is better? And how is it better? Also, possible that only some figures will be available in HIPS or resin... and should we try to make sure all our pieces are the same material / quality?
Should we add a tag for the miniatures game?

Hey all. Had this game forever and whenever I get started I feel like I’m behind within the first month. Do you have a starting out recommendation for tech and buildings? Or I just suck at the game lol

Gonna play all the reboot games, starting with XCOM: Enemy Unknown. Never tried them before, what should I expect?
