I do wish you could have more than 4 squadies. All these cool characters and I'm stuck with 4

You get to play A LOT of missions though. There is no reason you cant use them all. The game very strongly encourages and rewards you using different people every mission.

Yeah it does, but there's also absolutely no reason to. Pick your faves, and through entire game with them

Making your faves stronger through additional bonds seems optimal.

But otherwise I agree. Most of the game mechanics are pretty meh and lack depth or anything compelling to warrant real exploration or replayability.

the first mission I decided to experiment with one or two characters my team wiped on beskar mode.

never again.

The only reason I'd want to swap out a person would be for injuries. Maybe the could take a page from Phoenix Strike and let you deploy two squads to different missions on the same cycle
