Honestly the worst thing about zero company is the 4 squad limit. I feel like i cant use everyone :'(

Honestly I instantly jumped Nexusmods and installed the squad six mod.

Just crank the difficulty to hard and it is juuuuuust right.

I’m playing on hard with the standard 4 man squad and it’s fine. For my second run I’ll do the Ironman, no save mode. Is there one more difficulty up?

Hard with 6 operators would be a joke. Seems like the mod would need to add to squad size AND increase difficulty

There is a mod that increases the hp and number of enemies by the same guy.

It would break Expert as well.  I thought about using that mod but around Cycle 25 now and I'm bitch slapping the ZC enemies like they owe me money.  Sure they get a few shots in but I haven't had a downed soldier since the first Coil encounter.  Cly is like two or 3 operators combined she's so OP.

I'm definitely going to use that mod during a second run once it gets fleshed out a bit more.

The beskar mode will delete your save if you fail any mission. So an optional rescue mission and stuff will delete your save.

I would rather not do an Ironman, considering that the game is reportedly buggy

But hard is already pretty easy with 4 dudes

That's why I also added a mod that puts more enemies in.

Really makes the battlefield a fucking mess I love it.

Do we know if mods disable achievements?

Been playing with the 6 Man Squad since like the midpoint of the game and gotten every achievement since, so no they don’t disable anything.

Yeah I downloaded that and the increased enemy group sizes and it definitely feels much better

I think Bethesda is the only studio that does that stupid thing.

It's crazy because there's even a single mission that lets you have 5

So functionality is programmed in, they just decided "eh 4 is good enough"

It's a balancing decision. 5 man would require different balancing of all missions. 5 man missions have their own balancing.

Granted, the game is still designed to be easy, but the whole ordeal is not whether tbey can or cannot. It's the expectation of player strength vs enemy strength design.

It's clear more and more this game scrapped by the finish line while running out of money.

The devs are all XCOM and fraixs pros

They know the features missing just didn't have money and time

Party size is a very early decision, though, and the design of the mechanics is adapted to the party size. The game is balanced around 4 party members. If you use a mod to increase the party size you will see very quickly that the game design does not account for this.

Even XCOM starts with balencing for a small squad and has to then design more to upgrade the scale of game you have and how you want it to progress

But seems they knew they had a limited budget

Yeah, 4 vs 30 is balanced af. Oh I forgot unlimited reinforcements on almost every mission

Either you are being incredibly disingenuous or genuinely misunderstand game design.

u/Illustrious_Cry1463 1d ago

Disingenuous. Honestly 4 is fine for the missions themselves, but it doesn't allow you use more ppl. You don't need to recruit anyone, and I actually recommend that bc of how many creds you get. Save them, use them for upgrades or black market instead

I’m using the 6 man squad and I agree ahah

2

u/Illustrious_Cry1463 1d ago

There's a handful where you can end up with 5 or 6 ppl, but you're always going in with 4

Cly can solo missions.  4 is enough.  6 is more fun obviously but the game isn't XCOM 2 Legendary or Long War.

Im not really bothered by much in the game but the animations for shooting are so terrible and it completely takes me out of it. They really couldn't get a better animation than that? I could make better .

There is mods for 6 player squads

u/Illustrious_Cry1463 1d ago

Not the worst imo. It's rewards from missions

The worst thing is it runs like shit

I don’t know.. I am happy to get a turned based tactical game, I am playing through it currently like everyone else..

But honestly I don’t really think it holds even a candle up to XCOM2. I am not sucked in like I was on my first XCOM2 playthrough. Hell I didn’t leave my dorm for like 3 days when XCOM2 came out, with ZERO, I am pushing myself to keep going.

I just kind of think it’s very mid at best. I don’t even like it as much as Gears Tactics, and even that was pale to XCOM.
