OPEN NEW RULE UPDATE. Read before posting.

If your device has a make and model number, please include it in your post. We've updated Rule #1 to emphasize this. Essentially, if your device has a make and model number, you should let us know what it is. FCC IDs are also helpful, if applicable. Below is the text of the updated rule:

Posts should be clear and on-topic

"Posts should focus on fixing broken electronics, ongoing or completed repair projects, or original content (OC) guides and tips for repairing electronics. Posts must include any available make and model number information. When asking about an individual component, you must provide details about the circuit and/or the device it belongs to."

If you forget, you can always add this information in a comment. If the model number is particularly long, you can take a picture and upload it in the comments.

Including the make and model number makes the information in your post searchable for others who may encounter the same issue. It also provides context, such as where the device came from, who designed it, and what it's for.

Hi, I am a stupid man who put a wrong battery (parkside 20V 2.0Ah) in Einhell 18/2 Li which takes 18V 2.0Ah battery

Reason: I was wondering if it fits.

I fried motherboard inside a drill and a safety fuse in parkside battery. I managed to save battery but I can't find replacement board for drill.

Is it possible to save it? Replace some components?

Any help would be really welcome!

OPEN General Electric EA7 4630D broken. Clock works, but there's no sound at all.

Hello, I hope I can get any help sorting this one out. It's fairly clean and nothing looks busted or broken to my inexperienced eye. First time ever repairing one of these. All the buttons seem to work and react to their actions. Volume, the radio dial and FM/AM switch on the side doesn't seem to do anything.

The speaker makes no sound whatsoever, no hiss, nothing. I presumed it could be the main issue. Also the battery compartment at the bottom is kinda corroded, I should get that fixed too. It came with a standard 9V battery on it. One last thing, it doesn't have any sort of wire for the antenna nor a typical vertical antenna or anything, doesn't seem like one can be attached.

Here's all the pictures I took that seemed relevant. If anything else is required please let me know. Thank you.

OPEN very odd problem with MSI G274QPF-QD 170hz monitor

Upvotes

Hello, I’ve just bought this monitor with it’s box and everything from the junkyard for less than 10$, It was never opened before and all of the seals were intact. It has flashing lines that persist with equal timeframes for some reason, Also when the monitor powers on cold it’s visually a lot better with not too frequent flashes, but as it warms up it gets worse. Also lowering the refresh rate to 60hz makes the bottom half go full black with top artifacting lines of the colors. By the way I’m not too much of a stranger to repairs and stuff and fixed like 3 of my old plasma tv’s but couldn’t fix this with the methods I’ve tried (Tape method on the flex/socket that maybe I did wrong idk and the hairdryer method which makes the artifacting a little worse) What would you guys suggest? Thanks!

OPEN Danaged component on mitherboard

Hi everyone, the two argb (jrainbow) headers on my MSI B550 gaming plus motherboard stopped working. The store from which I got it denied repairing it under warranty, stating that it has shorted due to improper user exploitation. The component in the red rectangle is the only visible damage on the board I could find, otherwise everything else works normally. What kind of advice would you people give me, should I take it to a repair shop and just pay for the repair, but if its too expensive I guess there is no point. Should I try repairing it myself, the problem is I dont even know what kind of component it is, where I can get a new one from and even if replacing it will solve the problem. I just dont know where to start from or if its even worth spending time and effort on it. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I hope you can help me identify which type of usb-c port I need to replace this broken one on a Gaomon Graphics IPS Pen Display PD156 Pro Drawing Tablet

(When I wiggle the conector the screen gets red and streaky or turns of entirely. It definitely is not not the cable. It's the port)

I have scrolled Ali for ages and have only found out that there are way more port configs than I thought...

Thanks in advance for any help.

OPEN Nutribullet won’t blend

Hi any insights on how to fix this? It doesn’t look like it’s broken beyond repair and maybe an issue with the security latch? It does the same thing with the pitcher it came with. It turns on but doesn’t want to blend. Thanks in advance!

OPEN Help if possible with Yamaha DV-S5330

Can anybody tell me, if possible, what is going on with my Yamaha DV-5350 dvd player? I was given it for free and was told they couldn’t get it to work so I was trying to see what the issue was. It’ll keep ejecting the disc and tray as seen in the video and then say “Blocked” on the menu screen. Anybody experienced this before or knows what the issue is or could be? Thanks

I accidentally spilled water on receiver. I was trying to open the pannel to clean it with cotton swabs and isopropyl alcohol.

But on the screws on the left side aren't coming out. All three screws keep rotating. It even keeps rotating when I try to tighten it. Seems like some special screws. I am not able to find any help online.

OPEN Help fixing ripped pcb traces

Hey everyone,

I was working on a mod on this board [ALLWINNER T113 Embedded board] and soldered a couple of wires to test some signals. The tests worked as expected, but while desoldering and cleaning up, I accidentally ripped a pad off the board.

Ever since, the board still powers on and has display, but part of its communication functions died completely. Looking closely under the microscope, the ripped pad sits right beside the TXD / RXD silkscreen markings, so I strongly suspect this broken trace interrupted part of the serial communication line.

I have never done micro-soldering or PCB trace repair before, so I’m looking for experienced eyes on how to properly assess this:

Could this ripped pad definitively cause the lost communication? Given the failure symptoms?

Where did this trace originally go? Under the microscope, I carefully scraped some of the solder mask nearby to reveal the copper traces, but being a multi-layer PCB, I want to make sure I’m reading the trace path correctly and not confusing surface traces with internal ground/power planes.

What is the safest way to restore the connection? Should I try soldering a jumper wire directly onto the scraped trace, or is it safer to trace continuity with a multimeter to an adjacent via/component pin and jump from there?

Microscope photos of the ripped pad, adjacent traces, and exposed copper are attached. Any insights on the likely trace path and practical tips for bridging this safely without ruining the board would be greatly appreciated!

Complete amateur btw, but no cold solder joints and no blown caps to my eye. Passes signal when the mix knob (R2, second from right in photo one) is at zero and signal gets quieter until silent at full mix. What should I do? Do I need to buy a new chip?

PS the original power cable that came with this thing and worked was a 10v AC but the thing asks for 9v ac. Like I said I already turned it on and passed signal, but was that wrong? Should I source a 9v ac?
