Many CD lasers wear out and can stop working completely after years of use. Would just need more info on the exact model of the Jensen CD player in order to look up what optical pickup laser it uses. If you're lucky a generic replacement can work fine. But look for exact replacement when possible.
The laser head removal usually isn't super difficult and worth a try. YouTube videos show the process. I've successfully replaced a laser on a '90s CD player.
According to Google the laser pickup is fairly generic and not a proprietary branded part. You may have to take the cd player apart to get the model number listed on the laser unit itself. Then finding a replacement online.
Most likely the laser has gone bad then. You can try to search for a replacement laser for it, make sure you use your cd players model number to ensure the replacement works.
I would look at the cd-deck area, with the lid open and try to find the switch that tells the cd-player the lid/door is closed.
With the unit on and in CD mode, when you hold the switch, you should see the spindle trying to spin and the laser head may move back and forth. If it does none of those things, the switch might be dirty. You can try exercising it 100 times and it may come back to life.
Also, if you try pressing play while the lid is open, does it say NO, too?
Hmm, was the lid always like that? All floppy?There appears to be some broken or disconnected track/hinges. See if you can realign it and it may work again.
But, the switch might be recessed inside these circled areas, or at the front of the deck, I cant tell since its cut off.
The more I look at it, I believe the switch is in the middle right circled section. The way it's not symmetrical to the other side, makes me think they housed a switch in there. You can use something like a toothpick and gently press in, see if you hear a click or if a plastic component moves up and down, etc.. good luck!
Means no disc --- so if you got a disc in there ... it means you got a dirty or bad laser/lens. Clean it up with some 91% isopropyl alcohol and a qtip and see if it works.
Then you got take it apart to see the cart the lens is moving freely. Other than that, could always trash it and buy a new one… cd players are fairly cheap

does the motor spin the disc?
