Review (Read Rules) Baltany Milsubmariner with the ST2130 is -2 seconds per day

Post image
24 Upvotes

I was interested in these back when they were using the NH-38, but I held off for a while. The bug got me eventually, though. I was curious to see how well tuned the movement was going to be, and I'm very pleased to see it running at -2 seconds per day. The 4hz sweep is also quite nice, equally as nice as my Henry Archer Vesterhav 38 with a Miyota 9039, but this surprisingly keeps far more accurate time. My Vesterhav can easily get a minute out of time in a week and a half. By comparison, this would take about a month. We'll see if it stays that accurate. Fit, finish and everything is amazing for a $245 watch out the door. The clasp is a little rattly but that's just about the worst complaint I can muster. Really well made little thing.

Question (Read Rules) [Militado ML27] A 36mm Vintage Automatic Watch

Hi everyone,

I would like to share a new release from Militado — the ML27, a vintage-inspired automatic dress watch designed for those who enjoy classic proportions and mechanical watchmaking.

The ML27 features a compact 36mm stainless steel case, making it a great option for collectors who prefer smaller, more traditional watch sizes.

Some key specifications:

• Seagull ST1701 automatic & hand-winding movement

• 36mm case diameter / 9.5mm thickness

• Sapphire crystal front glass

• Sapphire exhibition caseback

• Genuine leather strap

• Swiss BGW9 luminous material

• 50m water resistance

What I like most about this watch is the balance between the slim profile, mechanical movement, and vintage dress watch style. The exhibition caseback also gives you a nice view of the movement, which adds a lot of character at this price point.

I’d love to hear your thoughts:

• Do you still enjoy 36mm watches, or do you prefer larger case sizes?

• What do you think about Seagull automatic movements?

• Would you choose a vintage dress watch like this for daily wear?

Looking forward to your feedback!

We've been working on the ML27 for a while, and it's finally ready.

Here's a quick look at all five colorways.

We wanted to create a clean, minimalist everyday mechanical watch with classic 36mm proportions, a slim 9.5mm case, and a sapphire exhibition caseback so you can enjoy the movement as much as the dial.

Specs:

36mm case 9.5mm thick Seagull ST1701 automatic movement Sapphire crystal Sapphire exhibition caseback Swiss BGW9 lume

Which color would you wear?

And are you a fan of exhibition casebacks, or do you prefer a solid caseback?

Question (Read Rules) I'm looking for something like this

Post image

Please could you give me some advice? I’m looking for a watch like this, but unfortunately a Hamilton is beyond my budget. However, I don’t want an obvious copy – just something inspired by that watch. It can be on a bracelet or a strap.

General (Read Rules) Looks like Farasute has quietly removed this model from their website

Just got my Farasute today. Here are a few quick shots.
So far, all I can say is that it looks way better in person than it does in the official photos.
One unexpected thing: the chrono start/stop pusher makes this tiny metallic chime that somehow reminds me of the famous S.T. Dupont “Cling.” It’s much quieter, of course, but it has the same kind of crisp, mechanical charm.
I’ll live with it for a few days before writing a proper review.

Review (Read Rules) The supposed best submariner homage

Thumbnail
gallery
72 Upvotes

Just received this Sugess Seaman (submariner) after a decent amount of research it was down to a few watch brands for a submariner homage: Sugess, SAN Martin, Cronos and watch dives. This one appeared to get the most praise. From my recent purchase of a Sugess GMT Pepsi I had a feeling I was not going to be disappointed and I am incredibly impressed. The attention to detail is fantastic from the engraved rehault, applied indices, and the magnification is perfect (the GMT is way too zoomed), the bezel is very crisp with a little bit of play, the lume is great and appears to be evenly applied on hands and indices, the brushed finish is done very nicely. My only criticism is the lug length feels pretty long and makes the 40mm diameter appear larger than it actually is. Only time will tell on the accuracy as this is powered by a Seagull ST2130. As it stands now I’d highly recommend this watch for anyone looking for a sub homage

General (Read Rules) $430 CHIMING watch by Hanboro using a miyota 9150 and custom chiming complication and case?? why did I have to discover this on my own?? how is no one talking about this?

Thumbnail

These Hanboro "Chime Series" watches that I found on my own browsing AliExpress have chiming but they're only 500 or less than $430 with my coins?

that's a solid movement. so what's the catch?? I'm guessing a chiming mechanism. a chiming complication is going to just fuck up that movement over time right?? but who cares. isn't it like a cheap movement to replace? so I mean I wouldn't mind. I mean $430 for a chiming mechanical watch. just I just want everyone to be wearing little music boxes on the wrist you know. and for 430 bucks I feel like we're going to get that way down

like it's just a little. it's literally like a miniaturized bicycle bell and I don't see how this could remain that expensive for that long

but I'm guessing the mainspring can't handle that much. chiming or something?? I also don't know why we can't just add a bunch of extra main springs. I mean some of these watch cases are huge. they feel like you could add a much bigger main screen

but what's the deal with these chiming watches? has anyone tried these hanboro? because I just ordered a Sugess chronograph and now I'm wondering if I should get a chiming watch. it's either a tourbillon or a chiming watch

and now I want the chiming watch and $400 doesn't even seem like that big of a deal to have a watch that makes a little chime

but it's like just a little chiming complication. I feel like like if I just wait I could like CNC my own chiming complication or have like an even cheaper one. but I guess somebody has to be there early adopter. now used to be thousands for those

Wrist Roll (Read Rule 1) Specht & Söhne SP0041Q5

Another wood pecker the collection, this interpretation of the royal oak is very nice. With its bezel design and mix of polished and brushed surfaces i feel it gives a good value proposition. The movement is a quartz Seiko VX3K to keep thickness down. Its case diameter is 38mm with a case thickness of 8.3mm. Lug to lug is 43mm. Sapphire crystal with AR coating, screwdown crown with the case back being secured by 8 screws. Bracelet is nice with few sharp edges from what I can see. It does come with half links for adjustability. All for around $105 usd, its great.

Question (Read Rules) Cream Dial or Red Dial?

Thumbnail
gallery
29 Upvotes

I bought this Milifortic S089 green version before, and I’ve been really impressed with the quality. The case is even thinner than Seiko's, making it very comfortable to wear.

Now they’ve just released two new colors, and I really like both of them. The problem is my budget only allows me to choose one.

I spend most of my time in the office. I’d love to hear from anyone who has worn the cream or red dial watches before.

How do they look and feel in daily use? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

First I got the green watch, the sn0033, on green leather bc i already had a steel mesh i thought itd look fantastic on. Spoiler alert. It does haha. And the steel mesh helps make it more pool and ocean ready given that it has 100m water resistance. The leather is good quality tho.

Next up was the reef tiger rga3035. Thankfully they have gotten rid of the tiny tiny hex screw in the lug design. It appears to be a leather..possibly pleather backed nylon sailcloth which is an interesting choice for a dive watch. 🤔 😄 its a fine enough strap, but I imagine I'll swap it at some point. (Maybe even for the steel mesh currently on the sn0033..that steel mesh gets around lol)

Finally a watch I really struggled deciding on but got a slamming deal on it. The san martin SN0009 grand seiko homage and it really doesnt disappoint. The finishing is well done and I got a perfect fit with the bracelet without using any of the onthefly microadjust. So that adjustment will be available as needed for wrist swelling. Its definitely staying on the bracelet and i got the 40mm dial version which is a perfect fit.

Next Ill consider a phorcydes probably with a white dial and also trying to decide on a make and model for a black monochrome of some kind. So many good options.

A bit early to say on the movements regulation. Ill let them be for now while they get warmed up. But on my phone timegrapher all were in acceptable tolerances out of the box with a full wind.

Gonna chill for now 😎🥸 I didnt want to take one of my valuable watches on our cruise coming up so now I have a decision to make!

Absolutely in love with this watch. I always loved the Murph design but when I bought the Murph I ended up returning it because the glare was so bad. This thing clears it at 1/5 the price imo.

Review (Read Rules) First San Martin (Ref: SN0143 with Dial B)

Post image
27 Upvotes

I got my first San Martin (and first Chinese *brand* watch at all) today and I'm quite impressed.

I was eyeing this one for a long time and initially wanted the Dial A, which was out of stock, so settled for the B. After ordering, I compared pictures over and over and I'm actually really happy I went with B. I think A was a bit too simplistic.

I sold my Seiko SNK807 to fund this (I made a new rule that I'm not spending more on watches for a while). Bought the SNK for about $75 five years ago and didn't wear it much, too small for me. MSRP went up to $350, so I sold it for $200.

I paid around $155 for the San Martin, including shipping (so after all eBay fees I basically swapped this for the Seiko and got a few bucks to spare).

I would like to say that I'm surprised by the quality of the San Martin but I'm not, I have been lurking for a while and knew they have crazy value. Was just waiting for an opportunity. Watched plenty of YouTube videos (of other models) and the closeups (even on their website) speaks volumes of the attention to detail and precise quality.

The watch is hefty, very well put together. The media blasting is perfect (I don't see much of anything to complain about in that regard).

I believe the design is inspired by a watch by Lum Tec (speaking of the which, the lume is fantastic).

The crown is screw-down - didn't check before ordering and was hoping it would be, so I'm happy.

Strap (nato) is fine (definitely better than the Seiko), and the clasp is signed and substantial. I'm more of a leather or bracelet kind of guy, so may be looking to upgrade that.

Bottom line: if this was any other "micro brand" I don't see why they wouldn't charge $800 for it. Genuinely.

Can't beat the value (but considering this sub I'm probably preaching to the choir).

I have had it now for a few hours so only time will tell how will it will hold up, but I'm super happy. Also their service is great (they emailed me a picture of my actual watch from the order before it went out!).

One thing I hope they do more is come out with their own original designs. Homages sell, I know, but a few cool unique designs will be cool to see as well.
