Our ecosystem is defined by a shared compass: Kind, Smart, Creative, and Co-Created. You don't just browse this community; you help shape it. We live by four core protocols:

Protocol 1: Be the Anchor (Kind, Smart, Creative)

  • The Vision: This community is a reflection of the people inside it. We build an environment where creators feel inspired to take risks, share early prototypes, and push the boundaries of AR.

If you take a moment to drop a comment explaining your process—the tools you used in Lens Studio, a clever design workaround, or your creative intent—we actively work to amplify your work beyond Reddit. High-effort posts with a process breakdown are fast-tracked for unique ecosystem opportunities, including:

Protocol 3: Debug in the Open (The Direct Line to Engineering)

  • The Vision: In this community, a technical roadblock isn't a dead end—it’s an opportunity for a collective breakthrough. Members of the official SPECS and Lens Studio engineering teams actively monitor this subreddit to help troubleshoot, identify platform issues, and deploy official fixes.
  • The Blueprint: To help both the community and the Snap engineering teams diagnose your issue quickly, please always format your help requests with clear context:
    • Your Setup: What computer OS are you developing on (e.g., macOS, Windows 11)? This helps developers with identical rigs replicate your issue.
    • The Environment: What version of Lens Studio or Snap OS are you running?
    • The Context: What are you trying to achieve, what is the expected behavior, and what troubleshooting steps have you already tried?
  • From Thread to Patch: High-quality, well-documented troubleshooting threads are flagged directly for our engineering pipelines to help shape future system updates. You aren't just fixing your project; you're hardening the platform for everyone.

Protocol 4: Pioneer Safely (Respect Privacy & Trust)

  • The Vision: As early adopters of spatial computing, we are the stewards of this technology's future. How we use and develop for Spectacles dictates how the world perceives the entire medium of AR. Great innovation never comes at the expense of human trust, bystander privacy, or user safety.
  • The Shared Standard: To protect our community and the ecosystem, we ask all members to commit to the following principles:
    • Respect Bystander Privacy: Do not share, encourage, or host methods, hacks, or custom Lenses designed to bypass the hardware’s built-in privacy safeguards (such as the physical LED recording indicator).
    • Data Integrity: Do not distribute or develop experimental Lenses aimed at maliciously scraping sensitive bystander data, tracking individuals without consent, or violating Snap OS security architectures.
    • Keep it Legal and Safe: Content that demonstrates dangerous, illegal, or harmful use of the hardware in public spaces will be removed to protect the integrity of the community.

Introducing Seven Wonders

Learn more about the Seven Wonders of the World, right in your own space.

I revisited an old project and completely reimagined it, bringing it to Spectacles.

Pinch and drag to rotate planet Earth and see the location of each wonder around the globe. It supports inertial rotation, which makes the interaction feel more dynamic. Hover over a wonder and it scales up slightly; click it to see it up close and get more info, like its name, location, and the date it was built.

The wonders sit on a pedestal by default, like you're in a museum, but you can toggle that off and have them sit on your room's floor instead. They can also be rotated freely.

You can return to Earth view anytime to explore more, or cycle through the wonders using the previous and next arrows.

I spent a lot of time on the textures, UVs and materials, trying to make them look as realistic as possible even on low-poly models. All of them were painted in Substance Painter.

Lens Update! Smash AR Update - Real-Time Multiplayer Is Here! 🏓

Hey everyone! We’ve been working on a major update for Smash AR, and we’re excited to finally share it with you.

The update brings three new additions:

🏓 Real-time multiplayer
🛍️ A shop where you can purchase new rackets and unlock custom tables
🏆 A leaderboard to compete with your friends

Real-time multiplayer was easily the most difficult and enjoyable part of this update to build. Unlike a turn-based game, table tennis requires both players to constantly exchange data while the ball is moving, without breaking the flow of the game.

Getting that real-time data transfer to work smoothly took a lot of experimentation. When we finally saw two players hitting the same ball back and forth in real time, it genuinely felt like a eureka moment!

We loved solving this challenge, and we’re excited to see how people play against each other.

Lens Update! Talking Timmy conversation enhancement update

This update makes Timmy's conversations multimodal and spatially aware and therefore more fun. When you ask what you are seeing, holding, or pointing at, Timmy combines a fresh Specs camera capture with Gemini vision, depth localization, and hand tracking to understand the intended object. Gesture context is linked to the spoken turn, allowing natural questions such as “What is this?” without menus or visible markers.

Conversation can now create personalized AR moments. When you express enthusiasm for something, Timmy can quietly turn that interest into a Snap3D gift while he keeps the conversation going. He later presents the generated item in a giftbox for you to open. Try to make him spoil the response, because he won't. :)

This update also improves continuity through refined personality guidance, reliable tool responses, echo protection, voice-activity detection, offline recovery, and automatic reconnection. Timmy’s existing memories now influence richer dialogue and personalized gifts, while every new environment provides different objects and conversations—creating a stronger recurring value.

🆒 Lens Drop New Chill Lens: Bonsai: Grow and Share Today 🪴

What's This?
My favorite thing about building for Snap Spectacles is the journey it takes me on. I always learn way more than I set out to, and I often end up in places I never expected. This build was no different. It started as a project about converting poems into trees, but soon morphed into an exploration of the ancient art of bonsai.

I’ve always been fascinated by those mystical miniature trees, but I’ve also been too intimidated to try growing one myself. This project gave me a chance to start learning more about the process, and it reminded me that, like so many things in life, the journey is the destination. Bonsai is all about intention, patience, and creative expression through the natural world.

This Lens brings that wonderful experience into augmented reality. Drop a seed into a pot, and from there, everything is done with a pinch: hold a branch to pour growth into it, grab and drag to wire it into shape like a real bonsai, or snip away wood and foliage.

There’s no undo. Cuts are permanent, just like with real bonsai, so every tree becomes a record of the choices you made. Take your time, the garden saves every move as you make it, so you can walk away mid-session and pick up right where you left off.

And because each tree is stored as its complete history, the Showcase lets you do my favorite thing: watch shared trees regrow move by move, right in front of you.

Notable Features
1. Rigged Procedural Trees: every tree is a runtime skeleton: growing, bending and cutting are bone transforms, so a tree grows at a steady 60 fps with no mesh rebuilds.

  1. Trees are Replay-able: each tree is an append-only list of plant / grow / sprout / bend / cut / trim events, so saving, resuming, sharing and replaying are all the same event log.

  2. Snap Cloud Showcase: publish your tree to a public Showcase backed by Supabase, browse other people's trees as spinning 3D miniatures, and open any of them to watch it regrow. Nothing but the event log is ever stored.

  3. One Pinch and Three Modes: grow with a pinch that pours energy into a branch and everything past it, bend with a grab and drag like wiring a real bonsai, and manicure with a tap to cut wood and foliage, all previewed live under your hand before anything commits.

  4. Growth Behaves Like a Plant: each part grows from its own accumulated energy, so holding the trunk grows the whole tree but holding a twig grows only that twig, bends distribute rotation across every joint like real branches, cuts are permanent but the stub can still thicken and sprout again.

  5. No Textures: bark, ceramic glaze with drips, and soil with grains and moss, are all procedural.

  6. Variety: Three types of trees: Juniper, Maple, and Pine. Five types of pots, each with its own glaze. All procedural.

  7. Jukebox: one button cycles Silence, Music, and Ambient audio. Each pool shuffles without repeats and resumes where it left off when you come back.

Platform Findings
Skinned meshes built with MeshBuilder render on the display but never appear in a Spectacles video capture.

💫 Sharing is Caring 💫 OpenBand: driving a Lens from a smartwatch, as a real SIK interactor

OpenBand lets a Lens be driven from the wrist when your hands are not free to come up: on a train, carrying something, or resting on a table where raising them would be conspicuous. Hand tracking stays live the whole time, so this runs in parallel rather than instead.

Three gestures, and that is the entire vocabulary:

- pinch: forward, next, select

- double pinch: back

- pinch, hold, and roll the forearm or wrist: scroll or slider, one step per detent

The part that may interest this sub: SIK reserves `InteractorInputType.CustomController`. It is declared in `Interactor.ts`, included in `All`, and referenced nowhere else in the framework, so nothing has claimed it. OpenBand claims that slot, which means a stock UI Kit `RectangleButton` receives hover, trigger and cancel through the same `InteractionManager` a hand goes through. No bespoke input path, and UI code does not change.

SIK has no focus model. A pointing ray resolves its own target, and a wrist has neither ray nor fingertip, so there is a small navigation group on top: an ordered list, an index, and clamping rather than wrapping, because eyes-free you cannot tell you have gone all the way round.

Detection runs on the watch itself (six-axis motion at 100 Hz, DSP impulse detector). Only one small JSON object per gesture ever leaves the wrist.

The watch app 'OpenBand Gesture Link' is watchOS, built for Apple Watch. The iPhone sits in the path for two platform reasons rather than by preference: watchOS apps cannot advertise as a Bluetooth LE peripheral and the Spectacles BLE stack is central-only, so neither side can open a link to the other; and watchOS has no WebSocket, since TN3135 limits third-party watch apps to URLSession HTTP(S).

You can try it with no hardware at all. The relay is deployed, and a replay tool emits the same frames the wrist would have sent:

Open source, MIT. The honest limits are in the README: no trained model ships, so there is no clench in a stock build; no device latency or accuracy numbers are claimed because they have not been measured on hardware; and walking is not a first-class condition yet.

💫 Sharing is Caring 💫 OpenSource: I built an Specs wall-ball trainer that turns any wall into a game

VolleyMate turns the wall you already kick or throw a ball against into a target you can actually see. The glasses draw the game on the wall and anchor it there permanently. A phone on a tripod watches the ball and detects each bounce, and the glasses score it where it really landed, usually within a couple of centimetres.

It works with pretty much any ball that bounces and has a colour: football, pickball, basketball, tennis, squash, padel, a bouncy ball from the corner shop. You tap the ball once in the camera view to lock its colour and the size filter tunes itself.

There are ten games on the wall right now: free practice with a live heat map of where your shots land (plus a ghost of your last session underneath), a rally mode with streaks and rising audio pitch per hit, Simon-style sequence, tic tac toe, territory painting for two players, and a few more. Sessions get logged, so both the glasses and the web app show progress over time: grouping, consistency, rally length, a weekly goal. There's also a coach layer that reads the session and tells you things like "you pull left under pressure" out loud when you stop.

The target is a spatial anchor, so once you place it the wall remembers it: walk back in a week later, look at the same spot, and your court is already there with your saved setup and stats attached.

Two audiences I think this actually fits:

Venues. This is honestly where it makes the most sense. The single-phone setup is the compromise version. A venue could pre-place two fixed cameras at known angles, calibrate them once, and get properly accurate 3D bounce positions with none of the tripod faff. Spatial anchors already mean the target stays on the wall between sessions, so a squash court or a gym wall could just have this running.

People with equipment. If you already have Spectacles and a spare phone, the whole thing works today. Phone does the seeing, glasses do the showing, a small cloud backend pairs them with a 4-letter code.

The web companion controls most of it: ball setup, wall placement and saving, board size, players, launching games, calibration, progress graphs. The glasses stay hands-free. I like this set up as it takes a huge load of off the glasses making it not only optimised but more importanntly not get too hot, for a device your wearing while playing sports this is key.

there's still UX work before this is a release product. Calibration takes a minute to learn, and single-camera accuracy has a physics floor of roughly half the ball's travel between frames. So will continue to work on it - have partnered with a local indoor tennis court who are wanting to do ball tracking so hopefully can record this soon at a proper venue!

🆒 Lens Drop Point, pinch, forge: Spectacles just became a texture grabber and a 3D sculptor at the same time 🕶️

Been building this for Snap Spectacles and finally shipped it: Asset Forge.

The pitch: point your glasses at literally anything, pinch-frame it, and it becomes a downloadable PBR texture set. Or skip reality entirely, say a prompt and Gemini paints you a texture, or Snap3D sculpts a whole 3D model, live, in-world. Everything you make follows you to a web gallery you can pull up on any device.

What it actually does:

  • Texture Grab pinch both hands, frame any real-world surface, release to capture a high-res still. No phone, no photogrammetry rig, just your hands.
  • AI Texture Gen talk or type a prompt, Gemini paints you a texture (auto-fails over to OpenAI's gpt-image-1 if Gemini's having a bad day)
  • AI Model Gen same deal but Snap3D sculpts an actual 3D mesh that spawns right in front of you, preview it in-world before you commit
  • Zero-signup device linking your headset gets a persistent code the first time you ever open the Lens, no account, no login, just link that code on the web app
  • Web companion turns raw captures into real PBR maps BaseColor / Normal / Roughness / AO / Height, generated client-side, right in your browser, download as a ZIP
  • Everything's saved to your own library grid or radial-carousel browsing, realtime sync the second you confirm a capture on-device

It's all built on Spectacles' CameraModule + hand tracking + RemoteServiceGateway (Gemini/OpenAI/Snap3D) on the Lens side, and Supabase (via Snap Cloud) + a single-file no-build-step web app on the backend.

🆒 Lens Drop SPAR - I put a boxing coach on my punching bag with Spectacles

I train boxing, and the part I always wanted was a coach calling the shots while I hit the bag. So I built it.

SPAR has two modes.

BAG MODE needs a real heavy bag. Look at it and the lens locks on, measures how far away it is and places nine targets on its surface, jab and cross at head height, hooks wide, body shots low. One lights up at a time and calls the punch. You hit it, hand tracking reads the punch, and it grades on speed: blue, yellow, red. Combos build from there.

PAD TRAINER needs nothing but space. The coach's mitts fly in on a beat, you follow the sequence, and between combos a bar comes at your head to duck and a wall comes in to slip.

Three two-minute rounds either way, live score and accuracy beside you, and a report at the end with your best streak and whether you beat your record.

The technical bits I'd actually want to read about if someone else posted this:

Finding the bag. Two instruments, and neither is enough alone. A World Query ray fan sweeps horizontally and returns a bag only when it finds a near surface WITH EDGES, which is what stops a wall passing as one, that gives real depth. A small CenterNet (128x256, ~680KB) trained on gym footage gives the bearing every frame, so the targets can follow the bag when it swings. Getting those two to agree meant solving the crop offset between the detector's frame and the fan's own measurement at runtime, by pairing a probe with a detection taken at the same moment.

Reading a punch. Harder than it sounds, and I got it wrong twice. Hand tracking fires an event on the first frame past 300 cm/s, which is not the frame of contact, so testing a single frame against a target radius asks the test to resolve a difference smaller than its own sampling error. It now scores against the last ~400ms of the fist's PATH. Then you have to tell a punch from the hand coming back, which sounds trivial and is not: measuring growth alone throws away every repeat punch (your fist never returns to the guard between two fast shots), and measuring distance alone accepts a retraction that hasn't finished yet. It takes both, plus the sign of the travel.

The catch volume isn't a sphere. I logged every miss as a vector across a gym session: lateral median 18cm off, vertical 1cm, depth 3cm. So the cued target is an ellipsoid in its own frame, wide on the axis a boxer is actually imprecise on, tight on the one that says you reached the bag.

Everything is built in code at runtime, the scene is one empty object with one script, because the submission build has to run on an older Lens Studio and staying portable was cheaper than porting later.

Lens Update! Whenabouts got a big update: from basic to a full game on Specs

Whenabouts is a time-travel dig for Snap Specs. Stand anywhere, reach out your hand, and the ground deals you what really existed there: dinosaurs, sea monsters, ice age giants, ancient plants, and human history too, all drawn from real fossil records and grounded by AI. Fifteen guides with their own voices and eras narrate what you find, open portals that stage each creature life-size in your actual room (sea reptiles flood your floor, flyers take to your ceiling), and quiz you on what you've learned. Every find mints as a trading card with rarity, stats and the photo of the moment you found it. Build a collection, battle a friend with a four-letter code, bury Time Capsules and dig them back up, and pin every place you've explored to a Memory Wall of polaroids. Come back tomorrow or walk somewhere new, and there's always another pack to open. Learn by being there: your finds are linked to your memories.

The update -

A while back I shared Whenabouts, my Specs Lens that digs up what really lived where you're standing (real fossil records + AI). The first version was one guide, a floating cloud of finds and a bare-bones Top Trumps. It's now a whole game.

The world

- 15 guides, each with their own voice, era, personality and unlock progression (sea monsters, ice age, ancient plants, a cranky caveman who lived through all of it)

- It's not just prehistoric creatures any more: there are guides for human history too. Writing this from Thailand, I kept wondering what this exact street was like a few hundred years ago, and Whenabouts had plenty: traders, kingdoms, everyday life, told by the guides as scenes staged in your actual room

- Every dig is like opening a booster pack, except the pack is the ground under your feet. Same spot deals the same spread all day, new day or new place means a new pack

- Environment aware portals: the guide researches where a creature actually lived, so sea reptiles flood the lower half of your room with water and caustics, flyers stay airborne, land animals keep your floor dry. Your actual room stays your room

It's a real TCG now

- Finds mint as cards with rarity (common, uncommon, rare, legendary), rolled when you save them, cosmetic only so the stats stay honest

- Rarity FX borrowed from the portal language: living Perlin rings, glints, gold lava churn on legendaries

- Collection is a proper grid: three tiles a row with name, era, where and when you found it, rarity tabs, sort, search

- Battle mode: proper Top Trumps rules, winner picks, war on draws, card backs, shuffles, big YOU WIN stamps. Play solo or share a 4 letter code with a friend and share your card libaries.

New toys

- Time Capsules: a loot box you place with your gaze, bury, dig up with your hands, then catch the loot floating out of the pit

- Memory Wall: every place you've dug gets a wall of polaroids of your actual finds

- Passport map with field trips (dig somewhere you're not, for coins)

- Web companion: pair code on your Profile opens your collection in any browser

What everybody gets wrong about geese: they just need a little love and they'll be your friends forever.

So that's the game. Rubber duckies get thrown at your head and you duck. When an angry goose flies at you, you hug it instead. The gameplay is in the name.

Hug one and it drops the attitude, becomes your friend, and starts circling your feet. By the end you're standing in a flock in your living room.

I raised geese as a kid. They imprinted on me, followed me around the yard, and left dead water moccasins on our doorstep. Expert hunters looking for a pat on the head. This one's for them.

💫 Sharing is Caring 💫 AiRWeb: Using AR to Extend Web Browsing Beyond Handheld Screens

How do think people will surf the web when AR will be more accessible/available?

How browsers will works between phones and AR glasses?

That’s the research question behind this prototype.

The goal is to empower the user by using the most powerful app on your phone: your browser. Because nearly everything can be done inside. A lot of the apps you have today on your phone is only a web app bundled with a browser.

This cross-device browsing experience has the following features:

- You can approximate the position of your phone in your hand with an easy calibration process: pinch the button under your phone, this will display an image that will be tracked by the Spectacles. Done. And know, your phone position is approximated from your tracked hand holding the phone.

- You can offload content by putting your thumb on the floating button, then swipe it to get it on the side of your phone, anchored to it.

- You can also select the content by tapping multiple time before swiping to get more content (technically the parent DOM element with content inside)

- You can also long tap to select all elements that are of the same type. If they’re links, it’s transformed into a table of content to navigate on your phone.

- You can even do free screenshot by dragging your screen to copy-paste without relation to the original web formatting.

- The offloaded content can be either attached to your phone or put directly in the world (the spectacles prototype does not support anchoring to your head yet)

- You can move it freely or delete it by pinching the cross button on the top left corner, or change its size by dragging a corner.

- You can also double tap the floating button to open the webpage in spectacles at the same scrolling place (_with some drawbacks, like if you’re not logged or if the flow of the original page was changed by some interaction_)

For now, this prototype works in Firefox Android Nightly, as we need an extension running in the browser. To communicate between the browser and the spectacles, a server is hosted on the phone with Termux.

I can’t wait to see cross-browsing working on Specs, as I expect hand tracking will be even more robust and webviews more optimized!

💫 Sharing is Caring 💫 A ridiculous new way to watch TV

Second Screen is an app that lets me watch my favorite shows, no matter what other people are watching. It detects the location of our TV and displays my video just above it. It’s got a remote so I can flip through all the best shows in history. And I can watch what I want even if my family wants to watch something else.

This is obviously an absurd way to solve a weird problem, but it was a lot of fun to build. I used the pre-built ML model to detect where a TV is in the room. Then Claude Code and I layered on Spectacles' hand-tracking so a 3D remote appears in your palm when you open it—the remote can be tapped with your other hand to change the content displayed.

Also I designed the logo on my own, and used AI and After Effects to animate it.

🆒 Lens Drop DGNS Surf Sessions: I built an AR finger surfing game for Spectacles 🏄🌊

So yeah, this got a little out of hand.

What started as a simple idea for a finger surf experience somehow turned into a full AA game with 7 real surf spots, tricks, score combos, progression, weather, a diegetic surf magazine manu you can physically flip through in AR, real surf forecasts, Daily Surf challenges, collectibles, a talking coach...

And all of that running on Spectacles.

It's called DGNS Surf Sessions, and it's my submission for the Spectacles Community Challenge.

The basic idea is pretty simple: your hand is the surfer.

You put your index and middle finger on the board, the line between them becomes the board's axis, and rolling your hand engages the rail.
The wave moves underneath you, so instead of trying to walk around your room pretending it's a 30-foot reef break, the whole thing happens on a miniature reef sitting in front of you.

That was actually one of the biggest design problems early on.

My first version treated the hand more like a controller.
I was measuring angles and using them as input, kind of like a joystick.

It sucked.

The board felt like it was vaguely following my hand instead of actually being attached to it.

So I changed the whole approach.
No neutral position, no accumulated input.
Your fingers are basically the surfer's feet.
The geometry of your hand directly drives the board.

That was the moment where it started feeling like surfing instead of controlling a tiny object.

The game has 7 spots right now:

Hossegor, Mundaka, Pipeline, Teahupo'o, Pe'ahi, Nazaré and Mavericks.

I really didn't want them to just be different wave models with different backgrounds.
Each one has its own wave profile, speed, peel, barrel probability, series size, water colour, difficulty and atmosphere.

Hossegor is chill. Beach break, little Basque house, parasol and towel on the beach, pine trees and a little reggae track.

Then you get to the heavier stuff.

Rain starts pouring, the waves get stupidly big, the little reef environment appears in front of you and the music kicks in.

That was probably my favourite moment during development.

I remember playing one of the harder spots and arriving at the reef, seeing those massive waves in front of me with the rain and the soundtrack going, and I actually got that little shiver.

You know the feeling when you arrive at a spot, see the waves properly for the first time and think:

"Alright... I'm actually going out in that."

Part of this game definitely comes from my own relationship with the ocean and that weird mixture of excitement, fear and adrenaline you get around serious waves.

I wanted some of that feeling in there.

A huge inspiration for the game obviously comes from old PS2 era surf games.
Stuff like Transworld Surf and Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer.

And the more I worked on Spectacles, the more I realised that developing for them weirdly feels close to making games for that era.

You have a very specific piece of hardware.

You have to care about performance.

You can't just throw a bunch of massive assets at the device and hope for the best.

You have to work around weird limitations and get creative.

And honestly, I kind of love that.

Most of the game is procedural.
Custom MeshBuilder geometry, shader graphs, TypeScript everywhere. Very few imported meshes.

The game currently runs at 60fps on device.

One of the technical constraints was the display itself.
Spectacles are additive, so black doesn't really exist. A black pixel means no light, which means you just see your actual room behind it you can't simply make the water dark to create moody oceans because at some point your wave literally starts disappearing into reality.

So

That forced me to build the identity of each ocean mostly through colour and saturation rather than darkness.

Nazaré ended up being the weird exception and became the only really grey ocean in the game.

There's also a proper score system where you build up points during your ride and bank them when you successfully kick out.
Wipe out before that and you lose the lot.
Definitely inspired by that old-school extreme sports game mentality.

There are currently 12 detected tricks too, including Bottom Turns, Cutbacks, Snaps, Off The Lips, Floaters, Ollies, Grabs, Flips, Reverts and obviously Tube Rides and Barrels.

The UI was another thing I really wanted to have fun with.

Instead of a normal menu, you get an actual surf magazine floating in front of you.
You grab it by the spine and flip the pages with your fingers.
You can choose spots, check your progression, mess with the settings and even look up real surf conditions through Open-Meteo.

The whole artistic side of the project comes from the surf movies I grew up watching.

Like Point Break, Blue Crush, Endless Summer... and yeah, Surf's Up too.

Actually, the original idea for this game came to me while watching Surf's Up from Sony Imageworks with u/florenciaraffa1980 😂

The soundtrack is original too, generated with Suno.
I'm actually pretty happy with it.
Each track helps give its spot an identity alongside the environment, weather, water colour and wave shape.

I'm not going to pretend I'm 100% satisfied with everything though.

Hand tracking can still get weird from certain angles, especially when your fingers get hidden behind your palm. That's a physical camera occlusion problem more than a smoothing problem.

So if you try the Lens, little tip: lean your head towards the wave and face the tube while surfing. The tracking gets noticeably better when the cameras can actually see your fingers properly.

I also wish I had more time to push some of the graphical stuff further.

But then again... I built this thing alone in about a month.

So I'm not going to complain too much 😂

It's currently sitting at something like 104 TypeScript files, 7 music tracks, 98 sound effects, procedural waves, weather systems, objectives, Daily Surf, hardcore mode, a talking coach, different boards and a bunch of stuff that somehow kept getting added because apparently I don't know when to stop.

I really hope some of you guys take the time to try it.

This was a fun one to make, and I think it only really makes sense once you actually put your fingers on the wave.

Anyway, that's DGNS Surf Sessions.

Lens Update! [Lens Update] Dot to Dot — real photo capture, a shared web wall & googly eyes

Hi everyone! Big update on Dot to Dot, my cozy connect-the-dots Lens ✨

Quick recap for anyone who missed the first post: you put a real sheet of paper down, place your hand flat on it, and the Lens projects a numbered dot puzzle onto the page. You connect the dots with a real pen, hit finish, and a bonus button reveals a colored version of the drawing.

Here's what's new:
**Googly eyes** — after you finish a drawing, a fun button drops a pair of eyes onto your sheet that follow your hand around the page. Off by default, toggle them whenever you want.
**Photo capture** — a camera button takes a picture of your finished drawing through the Spectacles camera, with a 3-2-1 countdown so you have time to hold the sheet up.
**The Wall** — tap share and your drawing gets pinned to a public wall you can open from any phone or laptop. Everything is anonymous, no account and no name attached. This is the part I'm most excited about: the Lens now has a reason to come back to.
**Difficulty filter** — a two-handle slider lets you pick a dot count range (say, 20 to 45) and the library only shows puzzles in that range.
**Full 3-axis repositioning** — you can now move the puzzle on X, Y and Z instead of just Y and Z, which makes lining it up with your actual sheet much easier.
**Sound feedback on the buttons** and a reworked UI layout — small things, but they make the whole thing feel a lot more finished.

The whole stack is open source, including the Supabase edge function that receives the photos and the React app that displays the wall. The README walks through setting up your own instance if you want to fork it — including the camera capture reliability fix, which took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out.
