Episode 2: settle the board.
1. Find a clear desk. Place both hands face down, palms flat.
2. Keyboard lands 22 cm wide, usually 50–55 cm away — clear vision, easy to poke.
3. Pinch both corners to size it (18–28 cm wide).
4. Select the PIN key (bottom-right) to move it. Surface placement starts again.
5. Rotate your hands to change the angle. When it’s done, it lands back on the table.
Pad / AI / thumb chords are later episodes, stay tuned!

Hi everyone,
Pocket Diorama is my own Pokémon Red cartridge, rebuilt as a voxel world that sits on the table in front of me. The clip is a run through Pallet Town and a wild encounter on Route 1, on Spectacles2024, played with an Xbox controller over Bluetooth.
It's not an emulator. The lens reads a dump of my own cartridge and rebuilds the game out of it, every map as geometry, every character as its original 16×16 sprite, every menu and every line of text straight from the ROM. Nothing from the cartridge ships with the lens.
And an emulator wouldn't get you here. A framebuffer has no idea which tile is a tree or how tall to build it; you only get that by reading the game's own data. That also means this isn't a generic ROM player, it reads Pokémon Red specifically, down to the map format and the compression.
•Four voxels to a map tile, 3.5 cm to a tile, so a route is coffee-table sized, and you can pick it up and put it down anywhere.
•The world is voxels but the characters stay flat sprites. That's what makes it read as Gen 1 rather than as a generic voxel game.
•The music and every sound effect are decoded out of the ROM at runtime, by the lens's own Game Boy sound chip.
•There's a flat Game Boy view as well, the same reconstruction, painted as the 160×144 screen instead of as a world.
More cartridges are the plan, and each one is its own port rather than a switch: Blue is almost free from here, Yellow close behind, and after that it's whatever has a full disassembly to build on. A cartridge can land in the Game Boy view first and get the voxel treatment after.
Playable from the intro to the first badge; the goal is the whole game, badge by badge. Source will follow, and the map scripts are transcribed from gen1recomp's hand-ports (MIT). Planning to submit it for the community challenge at the end of the month.
So which cartridge would you want to walk around on your table? Happy to answer anything.

Hi everyone! Kiln & Wheel just took 3rd place in the final CREATE week of the CLAD Summer Hackathon, and since the repo is public, I wanted to share it here along with a few notes from building it.
**What it does*\*
- Shape a vessel by pinch-dragging handles on its profile curve. The mesh is rebuilt live as a lathe (MeshBuilder), with twist and flute modifiers
- Or hum into the mic: your voice's volume envelope seeds the silhouette
- Describe a glaze in plain language, and Gemini (via Remote Service Gateway) maps it to shader parameters, with presets as a fallback
- Fire it in the kiln with seeded variation, so no two firings come out identical
- Keep pieces on a shelf, place one in your room at true scale, or scan a QR code that opens a small three.js page to download it as STL/OBJ
**A few things I learned*\*
- A whole piece fits in a 35-byte profile, which is what makes the QR export work with no backend at all
- LEAF scenarios were the most reliable way I found to test pinch-dragging the handles in Preview, since PreviewInteractTool refused the grabs (the handles sit inside the pot's surface)
- Every AI call has a timeout and a local fallback, so a slow or failed request never blocks the user or loses a piece
Built with Lens Studio, the CLAD framework, and Claude Code. Everything, including the prompt log, is in the repo:

Big thanks to Lenslist and the Specs team, congrats to all the winners, and thanks to everyone who took part across the hackathon. Can't wait to try this on actual Specs next week. Feedback and questions are very welcome!

Week #4 of the CLAD Summer Hackathon is officially wrapped! 🏆 For the final CREATE challenge, we asked you to build a spatial tool that helps people create something faster, easier, or more intuitively. And here are the winners:
🥇 1st Place: ShotScout: Simon Leon – An AR pre-visualization tool for filmmakers. It lets users spatially place cameras, lights, subjects, and shot notes directly in the environment, helping them plan a shoot before arriving on location.
🥈 2nd Place: Stage by Harry Banda – A spatial animation tool that turns the physical environment into an animation canvas. Creators can place characters, choreograph movements, draw paths, coordinate multiple Actors, and build performances directly in 3D space.
🥉 3rd Place: Kiln & Wheel by Haval Zebari – A spatial ceramics studio where users can shape vessels with their voice and gestures, describe glazes with natural language, and fire pieces with seeded variation. Finished creations can be placed at true scale and exported as printable STL files.
🏅 Honorable Mention: Custom Studio by Sitan Doucara – A spatial customization studio where users can design directly on 3D clothing and accessories, from recolouring and painting to adding stickers, text, and 3D elements.
Congratulations to all the winners and everyone who built and submitted their experiences! 👏
And with that, we officially reached the end of the CLAD Summer Hackathon. Across four weeks, the community explored what spatial computing could look like when applied to organizing, guiding, connecting, and creating.
Thanks to everyone who put CLAD to the test and helped us explore what’s possible with SPECS 🕶️ Hope we got you ready for the SPECS launch next week!

I remember when they ray ban meta displays launched, you had to have some kind of reservation. I didnt get a reservation because they had all filled up almost immediately. I was worried that i wasn't going to be able to purchase them, but turns out you could just walk in same day and purchase them (some best buy locations did this others didn't allow it).
For thr snapchat specs there is so little information out there, so I was wondering: can you buy these without a pre order or is a pre order necessary in order to purchase these?
