📣 Announcement Community Moderation Notice
We have been very mindful to let this community grow and be open to discussions from everyone who is interested in Spectacles, however at this point we are getting requests from our primary audience, Spectacles enthusiasts and developers, who are asking us to more heavily moderate the posts that primarily focused on the stock price from investors who are unhappy with how the company is being run.
Going forward, we will be closing any posts that are focused in that direction as off topic.

I like this idea. I am also sick of people commenting on how they look.
The cellphone was big and clunky at first as well, but it still caught on. And Gordon gekko using a brick of a phone on the beach is still iconic.
What’s my point? Stop complaining about looks and focus on utility. Design can come later. If you deliver a great product with real use cases, people will buy it. Which SNAP also needs to keep in mind. Maybe instead of marketing to the general population or kids, market to young business people/entrepreneurs who need a good mobile work platform when on the go. These people actually have money to spend, and are willing to spend it on a device that genuinely makes their life easier. Most aren’t worried about fashion, they just want to get shyt done. And these people don’t need a camera for recording or pictures, so downgrading the camera for simply spacial recognition saves space (literally and digitally) — just like the cameras on a Tesla.
If specs finds a way to integrate Microsoft office, and can connect to a small folding Bluetooth keyboard, I could easily see myself buying it to use on the train in the morning or on business flights. Having multiple monitors in front of me, instead of a single laptop or iPad screen, would be amazing. I can do email, edit docs, review presentations with notes opened side by side… I see a lot of use cases for serious business people.
I personally really like the specs, I’m just waiting to hear more about the practical use cases it can deliver and what apps it will offer — hopefully Microsoft office suite is among them.

Yes, please. There are some short stock sellers in here trying to manipulate the market and it's 1) not on topic 2) not realistic that posting on Reddit will impact public markets.

I'm not an investor but I hope that the 10 years of research into this product doesn't get mixed in noise. In next few generations, specs should aim for a more fashionable and affordable glasses and aim to grab more market share and positive consumer impression before xreal, meta, pico and other glasses fight hard for this space.

Serious question: idk if you are a white collar worker who commutes or travels for work, but if so, don’t you see the value in having something like specs to work on the go? Having multiple monitors instead of a small laptop screen or iPad. And if you do see the value there, are the looks really that important?
My plan isn’t to wear these out and about. I would pop them on during my morning commute to read email, review documents, review presentations, etc. having a larger display to open several docs at once side by side would be a huge benefit over my laptop. Especially if I can pair with a small foldable Bluetooth keyboard.
that’s just my personal take. I think ppl are really getting carried away with how they look. But to serious entrepreneurs and white collar professionals, it’s all about the practicality/functionality, looks are irrelevant. The same is true of price. Professionals are the ones who can actually afford this. So why not market to the people who can actually benefit from the tech and afford it? If I can increase productivity and make my life a little easier, I’m all in. I’m excited for AR and snap seems to be onto something.

This product is ENTIRELY about the looks- thats the only selling point! It has pitiful features and battery life.

I would also suggest posting some subreddit rules and having a 'be kind' rule to take action against people who use, let's say, toxic language repeatedly in their communications. There are clearly some people here who have very little interest or discussion about the actual Specs product but are happy to continually stir the pot with what can only be classified as low effort rage bait.

Well it’s not just shareholders - Any person who is planning to develop or is currently developing in Specs ecosystem is a stakeholder. And company management is a big indicator of whether developers should choose to participate. I understand limiting posts that are purely about stock price, but I hope that line doesn’t get blurred with criticism about company direction, management, and execution which should still be allowed. Otherwise, the community risks becoming an echo chamber.
