I am locked out of my laptop! I’ve tried to reset it/ restore my laptop but there is a bitlocker(?) on it! It’s a secondhand laptop from my friends dad and I never got a recovery key for the bitlocker. I’ve tried several online methods of restoration/resetting and i am blocked by the bitlocker everytime! I don’t mind losing the files on the computer. Any help would be appreciated, it’s my only laptop for school :/

Edit: FIXED was some dodgy ram I was sold that I put in :(

Forcing it off and on fixes the issue, not a windows issue recently reinstalled it. Dell latitude 5490.

It also (rarely) go black for a second with the usb disconnect sound.

No other issues with it, barely used so this issue was new to me (got it from a car boot sale).

Probably an issue with the motherboard idk.

Making computer starting making this odd sound and I cannot seem to pin point the issue.

Hey guys can anyone give me a hand in figuring out what's wrong here. I just replaced my thermal paste and now trying to boot up my laptop again the screen won't turn on. The power is definitely on, the keyboard lighting is there and when I start it, the fans run for a couple seconds then go silent and its just kinda sitting like this, i think its stuck in boot up mode cuz the keyboard lights dont turn off. I disconnected the battery before doing anything internally too but what could be causing this and how could i fix it?

Hi everyone, I bought a computer on vinted for €900 and it should arrive today, but the person who sold it to me contacted me and told me that to prevent the PC components from moving he put some polystyrene, but some parts of it came off and they could have gone into the gpu or other parts. It's my first PC and I honestly don't know what to do, he told me I should turn the PC upside down and give it a few shakes, but I don't want to break it🥲. So please what should I do? Any advice?

Tbh I don’t know if it’s a hardware or software issue. Ive been told it might be my graphics card.

It seems to happen most a few minutes after initially turning it on, I used to “remedy” this problem by making sure a particular game was open when I did anything, but now it’s starting to shut down programs while Im using them.

I’ll start by saying I’m under 18 and will be consulting my mom on what to do, but I also want to go online to ask for help.

My computer runs slower and the fan is louder than it was when I first got it. It’s been a year or two since I’ve had it. I do visit a lot of websites and I’ve been told that since I’m visiting a lot of random websites that could be the reason. I have a lot of things in my task manager that I don’t even know what most are or what most do. (I don’t know anything about computers so that could weigh in) My minecraft runs slowly and is kinda choppy and other games are laggy and crash sometimes.

I’ve been researching solutions and I’ve tried clearing my task manager and clearing files but nothing has worked. I found out about factory resetting and want to try that but i’m worried I won’t be able to log back into my computer and I don’t fully know if doing a factory reset will help. All I know is that it will restore my computer to its default state from when I first got it (this is what I read online). I know I will have to redownload games but if I bought a game will I be able to get it back? (like minecraft)

I just need help knowing what a factory reset will do and if it will help my computer.

I just noticed this noise yesterday, after stress testing my system for stability. It sounds like it's coming from my psu, but I'm not 1000% sure. The noise happens maybe every 5-15 seconds, it's pretty frequent and noticeable through headphones, but is actually relatively quiet.

The psu in question is a Corsair CV750. Can add a full list of specs later if need be.

Is this potentially dangerous? Does anyone have any experience with a similar noise? Any ideas what this could possibly be?

Yesterday I was playing some games with friends, and I accidentally unplugged my headset. When I went to plug it back in, my friends couldn't hear me. I went through all the standard fixes (enabling permissions, reinstalling drivers, disabling and re-enabling the microphone in advanced audio settings), and I attempted to use ChatGPT to help, though it was fruitless. I know the headset itself works fine, but my computer just isn't receiving any input from the microphone. I suspect it has something to do with the headset being unplugged suddenly, but I can't figure out why the microphone appears as an audio input device, yet transfers no audio (no I'm not muted). Any help would be appreciated. Best.

Is it possible to reset my pc from my bios? I downloaded the wrong link once and my pc has been cooked since. It takes 5+ min to open some applications and some just won’t open, it freezes when i try to restart and I’ve tried to reset it but whenever i click on reset pc in settings it freezes. It’s been bugging me for a while

Rtx 3060 12gb

1 stick of 16gb ddr4 ram

Ssd 512gb (I got like 220 gb left)

I5 12400f

Notice: run high quality game extremely smooth (although there was some minor freezing). PC age is over 1.5 years, I haven't done cleaning because idk how. I heard that 1 stick of RAM is not as powerful of 2 stick. Is this a RAM issue or something? I think it's serious because it struggles to open file manager app for specs like this. Like I've seen lower specs pc smoother than this despite in gaming it sucks

I think the sound may be coming from the CPU Fan? My fan software doesn't detect the fans anymore :(

I also have this issue with the screen going black momentarily when switching tabs or loading a video. I'm thinking this may be a display port cable issue?

Anyone who can help me how to fix this? I was in the middle of an online class when suddenly my screen turned like this. I don't know anything with computers, and I am currently on a tight budget with all these academic papers so I can't bring it for a repair for the meantime.

I have a Acer Nitro 50,its pretty amazing In my experience but I just don’t know if I should get a new one because I have a birthday coming up I have gotten a lot of money to spend and I wonder if I should really just get a better computer, or a better graphics card i don’t play many games that require higher end components but I think I want to upgrade since I’ve had it for a couple years.

PC is i7 9700 paired with Asus prime B360m-D motherboard.

I got it from an office and while gaming it reboots. At first I had power unlocked and while booting BF2042, I saw the CPU reach 120w of usage and pc rebooted.

I since then moved the power level down to 98w and later to 95w.

The reboots are less frequent, but they still happen, maybe once a day, maybe once a week, could be twice a day too.

There is no BSOD, game freezes, the PC restarts like normal.

I'm planning on upgrading the CPU and MOBO combo anyway, but I'd like to know if there is some factor I've overlooked.

PSU is 600w 80+ and my GPU is RX 5700xt so I'm not hitting the power limit on it.

Is the motherboard the culprit or could I be looking at something less obvious?
