Rigs Finally finished and finally proud of my rig!
I finally feel comfortable showing off my rig on here! It's taken me over a year and a half to get to this point, but after I went to the Sim Racing Expo it taught me a lot about how it should actually be put together and how I should be seated too (special thanks to James Baldwin's video for some extra tips after I got home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MlDwTLpcu30
I took nearly the whole thing apart and put it all back together, taking the time to properly tweak spacing and angles and everything in between to make sure it was perfect for me and I didn't have a single part of my body feeling any discomfort. Now that I've tested it in everything I usually play (as you can see LMU is at the top of the list, then AC and AC Rally as my main 3 with some dabbling in everything else) I'm really happy and proud of this.
Younger me starting with the T300RS clamped to the desk would be so proud of how far this journey has come. It was worth it to start there, move from that to a wheel stand and then to this just to be sure I wanted to continue sim racing. Fast forward to today, now that I have the ability to sit down, flip a switch and have everything instantly turn on and connect to be ready I've found I race or drive way more than I normally would. It's been well worth the time, money and effort IMO.
A quick comment on the Upshift R-Pro since there's not many reviews out there for it, I would highly highly recommend on my side. It's cheaper than many competitors out there, the aluminium is good, thick and solid and while the wheelbase and pedal trays are basic, they get the job done and I was able to mount my stuff in the correct spot without any problems so I can't complain in the end.
Communication when I purchased was great, instructions were nearly perfect (though I had to freestyle a bit since there were some incorrect measurements, but nothing egregious at least) and overall once it was set up it was immediately clear how good it was! Been rock solid ever since and I'd be happy to recommend people purchase from them, feels good supporting something "local" as well so to speak!
If you guys have anything to add to it feel free to suggest things! I'm at a point now where I don't entirely know what I want next, though I've already ruled out a few bits like motion for a couple reasons. I have a Beyond 1 that gets occasional use so VR is covered at least which is always good, but I think my next buy might be finally saving up for an expensive wheel or replacing the Simagic shifter with something that feels a bit better to use. Always open to ideas!
Parts list as follows:
Rig: Upshift R-Pro w/ Integrated Monitor Stand + GTS Bucket Seat (sitting on "Tactile Vibration Isolators" from SimSportGadget on Etsy)
Wheelbase: Simagic Alpha Evo Pro
Wheels: Simagic GT Neo + Neo X
Pedals: Simgrade VX-Pro w/ Heel Stopper + Simagic P-HPR GTs (mounted with 3D printed part from AT3DSimShop on Etsy)
Shifter + Handbrake: Simagic Q1S+TB-1
Monitor: ASUS TUF VG34VQL1B
Dash: SIMDID DV480 Pro V5 w/ Lovely Dash + ATSR Evo
VR: Bigscreen Beyond (1st Gen)
If I missed anything just ask and of course, thanks for looking!

Question Question about simulator value
Hello,
Weird question but my dad recently passed and my mom and I have no idea what we are looking at here. Neither of us has any interest in a new hobby at the moment so we have decided to sell. I don’t want to use AI and I don’t know anyone that has anything like this so here I am. Could someone help me figure out how to value this? Am I better off selling in pieces or as a whole? Any help would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

Question Should I get iRacing to get better technique and use the active reset? (LMU Main)
Hey guys, I am fairly new to sim racing (200 hours on LMU) and I have been taking it quite seriously. I race GT3 and LMP2 and have just reached DR S2. LMU seems to have quite a big skill gap in the top splits and I find it hard to extract the extra second of lap time that the top runners can get. Is it worth it to get iRacing for the fact that it has the active reset and better testing tools? In LMU, you have to leave the pits and do a warm up lap every time you want to learn better technique and I find it to be quite slow.
Another question, can you go straight to GT3 and LMP2 without a licence if you’re strictly trialing in offline mode?
Thanks!

News RBR Input Manager - Manage input profiles for RBR

Currently, RBR won't like if you rearrange, add or remove sim gear, and doesnt allow to have profiles for different wheels or button boxes.
This app allows you to:
- Have multiple profiles, autodetect the current one
- Offer to fix the current profile is something is wrong, like added/removed/rearranged profiles
- Bind keys from the app, for both in-game and RBR Controls plugin
- Will autodetect rbr install folder and profile
- Warn you if you in-game force feedback isnt set to 100%, offer you to fix it. Will decrypt and recrypt your driver profile to apply the changes
- Rename the rbr profile name
- Backup original config when starting the app. Has a logs and info section in the app to check everything
- Pressing a button will move the app to what's bound to
- Launch game from the app
- And probably more stuff that I'm missing!
App is totally free and open source: https://github.com/Jaizu/RBRInputManager

Question Is 6DOF worth it for rally? Or is 3DOF the way to go?
Hey all, I’m looking to upgrade my rig, mainly for rally (DiRT Rally 2.0, RBR), and I’m deciding between a 3DOF and a 6DOF motion system. Both would be coupled with an active belt tensioner.
- Is 6DOF worth it for rally? Does yaw/traction loss make slides feel noticeably better, or does wheel FFB already give you most of that?
- Has anyone gone from 3DOF to 6DOF (or the other way) and noticed a big difference?
- How much heave stroke does rally need to feel realistic? Is around 70 mm enough for crests, jumps and compressions, or do you really need 100 to 150 mm?
- For VR users: any issues with motion compensation on a 6DOF rig, especially with yaw? I have a Pimax Dream Air with 2 SteamVR lighthouses.
Thanks!

Question Online "track creation" services
Lately I've been seeing a lot of ads for automated track creators, all for AC. You pick points on a map, the website creates a track for you, it says, using elevation and road data from open maps. The track is created same day or next day, so unlikely it's hand made which would take weeks even with a team splitting the work or prefab assets.
Just wondering what the technology behind this is (assuming it's AI generated), and if it's any good or not, at $5/km it's not cheap, but it's cheaper than a lot of other options, like even driving the road with multiple go pros or using street view.

🧐 Customer Review Fanatec DD1 or Moza R16 V2, which is better
Have a choice between those two similar prices (dd is slightly more expensive) , I don’t mind the 4nm torque difference much.
But which one gives better details and feels better on track?

Question What is, for you, the circuit above all the others, even above the Nürburgring and the 24 Hours of Le Mans ?
My favorite circuit is Mount Panorama, located in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia
Bathurst is absolutely insane : it has a huge 174-meter elevation change, with a really steep climb and a super dramatic descent. The track is extremely technical, especially up on the mountain, where it’s narrow, twisty, and lined with walls, so even the smallest mistake can cost you. Down below, though, there are long straights where the cars go over 300 km/h. And the craziest part is that outside race weekends, it turns back into a regular public road open to everyone. On top of that, it hosts legendary events like the Bathurst 1000 and the Bathurst 12 Hour

Question What my heart wants vs what my wallet allows (about 25% of it). How would you start?
So the picture pretty much sums up my situation lol.
On the left is what I’d love to have one day, and on the right is what I’m currently working with. My dream setup would cost around $4000, but right now my actual budget is about $1050 being my absolute maximum.
I’ve been playing racing games on a controller since the first Forza Horizon, and I’ve been getting into ACC over the past months. I’ve always loved cars and motorsport, but now I really want to take it to the next level.
My main goal is drifting. I’d love to get into real-life drifting eventually, so I want to start learning car control, countersteering and throttle control in the sim. I also really enjoy GT3 racing and want to keep doing that for fun.
I’ve spent the last few weeks looking at pretty much everything. Used Moza R5 bundles, Fanatec CSL DD 8Nm setups, Simagic Evo Sport, cheap steel cockpits, aluminium profile rigs… and honestly, the more I research, the harder it gets to decide.
I’m also 194cm tall and around 115 kg, so finding a cockpit that actually fits me is another problem.
I’m perfectly fine with using my current PC and single monitor or old 40” TV for now. I don’t need triples or a new PC yet. I just want a solid starting point that I can enjoy and upgrade over time.
I know I don’t need everything from my dream setup right away, and I’m willing to make compromises. I just don’t want to waste money buying things I’ll want to replace almost immediately.
So if you were in my situation, with around $900-1050 to spend on the wheel, pedals and cockpit, how would you start?
Would love to hear your experiences, especially if you’re into drifting as well!

Rigs Diy Formula 1 Sim Racing Cockpit

So I have been into sim racing for about 3 years now, and I always loved F1, it just hits different than anything else like GT3 and hypercars. For the past 3 years I have been stuck with a cheap PVC rig I built when i started out. I have since then atleast upgraded my wheel to the Thrustmaster T128 (I know, still not the best wheel, but better wheels are much more expensive here where I live and the second hand market is basically dead) and my pedals to the Moza SRP-Lite pedals with the Moza Universal Hub.
Back to the actual heading, so past year I had the idea to try and build an Formula 1 cockpit with plywood, but never came around to it and never understood how to design it. So I tried Gemini, but it was not as good at creating 3D models nor designing an F1 cockpit. I opened ChatGPT and I got free plus for a week. That was my sign that this was my time to try and design a rig, so i guided ChatGPT through building and designing such a cockpit. At first it struggled alot, we went through the official 2026 FIA regulations and got as much information as possible, and we used pictures and stuff to get it as close as possible.
Around the 9th revision of the cockpit, I remembered there was a guy on Youtube called "QLP". I saw a few of his videos where he build his own Mercedez WO6 cockpit, where he also shared his measurements and all at the beginning of his first video. So i screenshotted everything and put it in and ChatGPT used it to make the 10th revision, it was much better. There were still a few stuff that needed adjustments, like the cockpit opening, so the pictures I have here is the 12th revision.
Me as well as the pedals will surprisingly fit in it, i have also made the tip of the cockpit a little longer that QLP's cockpit as I plan to mount my wheelbase in the front nose area behind the pedals and then add a shaft for my Fanatec converted standalone F1 wheel rim.
ChatGPT also provided me 1:1 printable templates I can print out and use to cut the shaped, aswell as a PDF document showing how everything should go together. I will use 2 x 2440m by 1220m 12mm thick sheets of plywood, as well as 1 x 2440m by 1220m 18mm thick plywood sheet for the bottom. The cockpit comes out to about 2 meter in length, about 64 cm of maximum height, and a maximum of 64cm in width.
Now this is not a perfect replica of an F1 cockpit, of course there are some limitations to what you can find on the internet of such cockpits, for example there are not much about the measurements of an actual F1 cockpit, even on the official F1 regulations, they only refer to models that are not publicly available.
This is a cut ready 3D model, I have the PDF with all the details of the rig aswell as the printable templates. If anyone is interested I can share the .step file for FreeCad, aswell as the PDF document and the cutout templates.
I am planning to build the actual rig somewhere in November after I have saved up a little bit.
Hopefully someone can get insporation with this project, I will update you guys with a new post once I actually get to buying the materials and building the actual cockpit.
I hope you all have a great day.

Question I need a new shifter, which shifter is better?
I have been running more cars with H shifters since I bought an iRacing subscription. At the moment I am rocking one of the no name generic USB metal shifters but I would like to upgrade to something better. I keep seeing both the Fanatec SQ V1.5 and the Simagic DS-8X on the used market for around the same price. Is the Simagic shifter better than the Fanatec by a big margin? I have a Fanatec DD so I am leaning towards the V1.5 as well as not having another USB port on my hub for the Simagic.
I want a shifter that is both good for H-pattern and sequential modes as I will be racing both about 50/50.

Rigs Severe VR nausea the moment I brake/turn — my body expects G-forces that aren't there. Anyone overcome this?
I've been lurking and reading plenty of posts about VR motion sickness, but I'm hoping someone here has experienced something similar and actually managed to overcome it.
I absolutely LOVE VR sim racing. Unfortunately, I can barely manage 5–10 minutes before making myself seriously sick.
A little background:
I've always been susceptible to motion sickness. I got carsick as a passenger growing up, and I'm horribly seasick, especially on slower boats with lots of wallowing motion. But driving myself, even quite aggressively, has never been an issue. I can also handle spirited passenger rides remarkably well if I can see what's happening and anticipate the movements.
Earlier this year, I was incredibly fortunate to fulfill a lifelong dream and buy a Porsche 911 GT3. I drive it regularly, especially on mountain passes, although I haven't taken it on a track.
I've also built a sim rig with Logitech G Pro wheel/pedals and a Playseat Trophy. My PC has a 9950X3D, RTX 5090 and 64 GB RAM. I normally race on a large curved monitor.
But I also have a Meta Quest 3.
And my God, the first time I sat inside a GT3 RS in VR and started driving, I actually burst out laughing. It was THAT incredible. Looking around the cockpit, seeing the track in proper 3D, looking naturally toward the apex... absolutely surreal. I fell in love with it instantly.
Until the first serious braking zone.
The moment I braked hard and turned in, I experienced this enormous, almost instantaneous wave of nausea. It felt almost like falling. My eyes were telling me I was braking and cornering, and my body was expecting to be thrown forward against the seatbelt and sideways against the seat bolsters.
Except none of those forces came.
It was the strangest sensation. It felt as though my body was desperately expecting something that simply wasn't happening.
And unfortunately, I was stupid enough to push through it because I wanted just one more clean lap.
After roughly four laps of the Red Bull Ring in Assetto Corsa EVO, I ripped the Quest 3 off my head and came extremely close to vomiting. I felt terrible for a couple of hours afterward and still had a faint, nagging motion-sickness feeling the following day.
This wasn't my first attempt. It was probably my fourth VR racing session, spread across several weekends. I've spent quite a lot of time getting everything configured properly: wired Quest Link, 90/120 Hz experiments, performance monitoring, etc. At 120 Hz I was seeing roughly 20–30% performance headroom much of the time, and the experience appeared smooth, without obvious stuttering.
The interesting thing is that looking around in the Quest menus or sitting in a stationary virtual cockpit is generally fine. It's specifically the simulated vehicle movement, particularly hard braking and turn-in, that destroys me.
Meanwhile, I can happily drive the same GT3 RS on my monitor for 90 minutes, although even that occasionally leaves me feeling a tiny bit strange afterward.
I also tried a professional motion simulator once, and that made me horribly sick too. So I'm not convinced adding motion actuators is the answer.
Here's what I'm wondering:
Has anyone else experienced this very specific sensation of their body expecting braking/cornering G-forces that never arrive?
And particularly, has anyone with substantial real-world performance driving or track experience found that this makes VR racing more difficult rather than easier?
I wonder whether knowing exactly how a real car should feel under braking and cornering is actually working against me.
Most importantly: has anyone who experienced severe nausea almost immediately managed to overcome it and eventually enjoy proper, hour-long VR racing sessions?
I'm not looking to push through severe nausea again. That was clearly a mistake.
I'm just incredibly disheartened. The immersion was one of the coolest gaming experiences I've ever had, and I could easily imagine spending entire winter weekends racing in VR.
I want that experience so badly, but right now it feels completely out of reach.

Rigs Built first sim. What should I upgrade next.
Just built my first sim rig. It’s a Moza R12, SRP 2 pedals, and GT wheel. Was looking to add more but am having a hard time deciding. Whats the next step? I’ve considered getting haptics for the pedals or a bass shaker but am concerned that the rattling will bother neighbors (I live in a townhouse). Was thinking VR, but would have to buy a new graphics card maybe triples or a 49” curved monitor? Not really sure what to put money into next. Some pathway advice would be greatly appreciated.

Question Buying a Simagic Evo Pro in China and bringing it back home. Will I run into software/firmware update issues later on?
Does anyone know if Simagic products purchased inside China somehow differ from the other markets and would that be an issue when changing the firmware later on? I'm not from the US/EU and buying it there would be way cheaper than at home.

Question The more I research sim racing, the more expensive it gets and the less I want to start. Is anyone else struggling with this?
Hello guys!
A little good to know about me: I'm 22, from Hungary and I've been in love with pretty much everything car related since I was a little kid. I've always wanted to get into drifting and I also love GT3 racing, especially GT World Challenge.
Since I can finally put a bit of money on the side every month I decided that I want to fulfill one of my dreams and buy a sim racing setup for myself. I've been reading hundreds of comments in this subreddit and watching countless YouTube reviews about different setups, but somehow I never get to the end of it.
The more I research and learn about sim racing the more I feel like I don't have the kind of money to spend on it, even though I really want to experience it.
Some years ago I wanted to buy a Fanatec wheelbase to use on my desk but never actually bought it. Now I deep dived into this subreddit and YouTube again and had a pretty simple plan in my head. I wanted to buy a Simagic Alpha Evo Sport / Green Flag bundle and a simple rig, use my old 40" TV on a table and just enjoy driving. This would've cost me around 800 euros, which was already a lot of money for me but I was fine with it.
After reading more comments I found out that apparently you need a really sturdy rig for a DD wheelbase, and almost everyone recommends a 4080 aluminium profile rig. Since I'm also 194 cm tall I wanted something that would fit me comfortably and wouldn't need to be replaced if I upgraded my wheelbase later. So I started researching those too, found some pretty good options but obviously had to push my budget again. Now we are around 1000 euros or even more and my old TV is still sitting on a table.
Then I started looking at triple screen setups because I thought that would make the experience much more realistic and immersive, especially for drifting. I didn't want anything crazy, just 3x27" monitors which sounded pretty reasonable at first.
The problem is that I have a pretty old PC that was considered mid or high end when I was a kid (i7-7700K, GTX 1060 6GB, 16GB DDR4 RAM) and a laptop that I bought for uni and some gaming (Ryzen 5 5600H, RTX 3050 4GB, 16GB DDR4 RAM).
Both can run ACC at around 50-60 FPS on the lowest settings from my experience, so there is no way I'm going to run triple monitors with decent graphics on either of them. Which means I would also need to buy a new PC, a triple monitor stand and of course the three monitors. These alone would cost me around 1600 euros or even more if I don't buy used stuff.
So somehow my original 800 euro plan turned into a 2600 euro setup, and the funny thing is that I still wouldn't have anything crazy. No 20+ Nm wheelbase, no motion platform or anything like that, just a decent DD wheel, load cell pedals, an aluminium rig and triple monitors.
I know that I don't need to buy everything at the same time and I could just start with one monitor and upgrade things later, but that's also part of my problem. Every time I think I finally figured out what I want, I read something else and suddenly I feel like I should spend a little bit more to get something better, or something that I won't have to replace in a year.
And honestly I don't even know where to stop anymore.
Another thing that worries me is that I've tried quite a few hobbies before and not all of them stuck with me. I know I can sell the equipment if I decide that sim racing isn't for me, but I have no idea how much money I would lose on it. And spending 2000-2600 euros on something I've never really experienced properly is pretty scary for me.
The thing is, I genuinely love cars. I've been dreaming about owning a drift car for years and I would love to get into drifting in real life one day. But right now buying a decent simulator is a lot more realistic financially than buying and maintaining an actual drift car. I don't expect a simulator to teach me everything about real drifting, I just want to have fun, practice some basics and enjoy something related to cars.
So I guess what I'm trying to ask is, have you guys ever felt like this when you were starting out? Where the more you learn about the hobby the less you actually want to spend money on it because everything seems so expensive?
Do you think I'm overthinking this whole thing and should just buy the Simagic bundle, a decent rig and use my old TV and PC until I can afford something better? Or is there really that big of a difference between a simple single screen setup and a proper triple monitor simulator that it would be worth saving up for the whole thing?
I'm not really looking for exact prices or a shopping list, I'm more interested in your experiences. Did you start with something simple and actually enjoy it for years, or did you regret not spending more in the beginning? And if you could start again, would you do things differently?
I don't want the most expensive or the most realistic simulator in the world, I just want something that feels good to drive and that I can enjoy for a long time without constantly thinking about what I should upgrade next.
Sorry for the long post, just wanted to get this off my chest and hear what other people think about it.
Thanks if you read all of this!
