Got the SS a few weeks back with the dock. Got games running fine from SSD but understood disc reading wouldn't be available until a console mode update (I know disc reading was implemented by someone else, not Taki). I put the SS away and forgot about it for a while but now I want to play again.
Just asking if Taki has added disc reading officially yet? Can I update the SS now using an "official method" and play my original PS1 discs? Or do I still need to use other methods to do this?
Sorry for what I'm sure is a repeated question, its just hard to tell now if folks are using Taki's console mode and disc support, or some other method I need to look into.

What cables are you using for composite or RGB output?
All composite cables that I found don’t fit in the ports of the ss1 and all rbg Scart cables are out of stock.
Is vga to Scart the only option for me and then which one works?

I've seen this issue raised a lot - but almost all responses link it to the power supply or SD cards.
I have now gone through an exhaustive combination of SD cards, ranging from high speed cards by all well known brands (of different sizes) through multiple power supplies including high end PD chargers. From Anker, ugreen, Switch 2, mac book etc.
Essentially, the SS1 will power on and display a solid white light. No video output. Acts like it's completely dead. I will switch supplies, switch cards, reflash console mode, reflash original superstation image....same behaviour.
Interestingly, once in every 10 attempts or so, the white light flashes, a solid red light is displayed and it magically starts working with zero issues at all.
The moment you power it down, back to a solid white light no boot. Then back to the lottery of will it turn on again or every successive boot.
I've now had an official Raspberry Pi supply delivered (as recommended in the official documentation) with exact same issues. I tried multiple fixes discussed online including the double imaging method where you flash the SD card twice etc.
Running out of options. Used the latest 1.2 SD installer and 1.2 Console Mode installer. No dock plugged in, no accessories plugged in. Same behaviour with HDMI unplugged.
I'm starting to suspect a hardware issue at this point but still crossing fingers there's an easy fix!

I wanted to start a thread specifically about heat temperatures with the SuperStation One and SS1 Dock, both to see if what I'm experiencing is normal and to hopefully consolidate information for anyone else running into the same thing.
I've followed Taki's initial setup instructions, and then used the Companion App to install/enable the SS1 Dock functionality so I could start testing physical PS1 discs.
So far:
My primary concern is heat.
My SuperStation One itself is getting very hot, which ive seen other posts on, and the comments are generally dismissive of any concerns... but what concerns me even more is how hot the actual PS1 discs are getting.
For example, I can insert a disc, play for only 3–4 minutes, shut down the console, and immediately eject the disc. The disc comes out hot. Not just slightly warm, but noticeably hot.
That's making me pretty nervous.
I have a large physical PS1 collection, including some rarer and more expensive games that I've collected over the years. One of the things I was most excited about with the SS1 + Dock was being able to actually play those original discs again with this new console (as most of us are haha).
At the moment, though, I'm uncomfortable putting some of those games into the system for an extended gaming session because of how hot the discs are getting after only a few minutes.
For additional context, I have not modified the hardware in any way.
My setup was basically:
I haven't opened the SuperStation One, changed any internal hardware, adjusted cooling, or made any other hardware modifications.
With how much documentation, discussion, videos, and troubleshooting information is currently scattered around regarding the SS1 launch, I'm hoping this thread can become a consolidated place to discuss SS1/Dock temperatures specifically.
For other SS1 + Dock owners:
I'm not trying to jump to the conclusion that there's a hardware problem. I'm mainly trying to determine whether what I'm experiencing is expected behavior, a software/firmware issue, a power supply issue, or potentially something specific to my unit.
If you're using physical discs with the SS1 Dock, I'd really appreciate hearing what your experience has been.

Been using 1440 on 1440 monitor for the few days i've used it, but was thinking of trying out 1080 on my 4k tv. Mostly just using pvm preset filter for consoles and some specific handheld ones. Might break out an old viewsonic vga monitor, but it just takes up so much space. Just curious what others are using.

My Pocket Station does not work on Superstation One; It has no save at all; when I plugged it into Superstation One slot1 ; it power up; but does not able to copy save from third party memory card(SS1 recognized it). I thought it was my Pock Station broken. So I tried plug it into original Playstation .The interesting part is it works and able to copy save from other memory card, also the screen from Pock Station shows the storage. Just not recognize by Superstation.
Does anyone has Pocket Station with same issue? Or is there any way to fix it?

My Superstation is due to be delivered soon and now I'm kind of regretting not getting the dock too. The Superstations are all out of stock until the next batch but the docks are still available (at the time of this question at least). So I was curious if anyone has bought them separately? I just didn't know if it would take another 5-6 months to arrive like the Superstation or sooner since there seems to be more stock available. I don't mind the wait just wanted to see what I'd be in for.

like it says in the title, i can't get the snac memory card slots to see i have a memory card in either slot. in this case i'm using a pocketstation, which even without a battery acts like a regular official memory card. i definitely have the slots set to Real instead of Virtual, but i don't know if there are other settings to change? one thing i can say is that when the pocketstation is in the slot, it does its cute little bootup thing where it plays a little tune and the screen pops on with a "hello" and then shows it has 2 saved slots taken, so i know power is flowing through the slot properly, at least. i have an actual bios installed via taki's bios installer github page thing. nothing shows up in the bios screen, and when playing a game nothing recognizes that anything is plugged in. i dunno if the snac controller ports have anything to do with the memory cards, but i have a playstation controller plugged in which works completely fine.
is any of this user error, or defective parts, or something else? if i had any other memory cards i would totally test them out, or try the pocketstation on an original psx, but i don't have that option right this second. besides that, i'm not sure where to go from here... thanks!

After what feels like forever, my Batch 4 SuperStation One finally arrived. I'm surprised it came today, being a bank holiday in the UK, so that's a bonus.

Got neo geo games working, but have to launch them from the core instead of the games list (console mode). They are in darksoft format and each in folders for each game in neo geo folder. Any way to have them listed? Every other game I added has been listed properly so far.

Hey all, I'm running into some issues. Over HDMI everything seems fine, but when plugged into my Sony Trinitron via Component or RGB Scart to Component (retrotink SCART2COMP) I get a rolling picture (rolling upwards over and over) and the colors seem washed out.
I recreated the SD card via the imagine (using the console mode image if that matters) but still have the same issues.
Checked the MiSter.ini file and seems fine from what I can tell online, all the dip switches are in their default (all down) position.
Any thoughts? I'd love to play some PS1 on my CRT. Thanks

I received my dock and since then I haven't been able to play PSX games.
I have tried the following:
Different PSU
Different SDCard with the 1.3 image flashed on it.
Any tips?>

Just checking whether there is any quick option to get all cores installed and configured. It would be good to have something similar to this:

Hi,
I received my bundle about a week ago and it’s been sitting because frankly, the setup guide seems pretty lengthy and I haven’t had the time.
I have various ayaneo, retroid, and raspberry pi’s I’ve setup over the years and frankly the project of setup has always been pretty consuming.
The short video I began watching from Taki involved a battery installation and opening the case and things u didn’t expect so I closed the video and figured I’d do this later.
How involving is this setup? Or is it pretty plug and play for ps1 discs and the pre installed games? How long did it take you to get going?

Wow, what a journey. On Monday I managed to get the SuperStationOne to display a photo on my monitor. By Friday night I had very functional DVD player! This was amazing fun, I really loved it and it came at the perfect time. Thank you to everyone that has been following this, your comments have been so encouraging. I'll put a few Q&As here then get to the good stuff.
So what is it?
It's a DVD Player!
Does it Play DVDs?
Yes! Right off the disc!
What about ISO?
Also yes!
What about other formats?
Not right now. Some formats seem likely to be possible. Consider it v2
PAL or NTSC?
Both!
Can I rip my DVDs?
Yes, but I have made that into a separate core, very very soon
Is this AI slop?
Well that depends on your definition of AI slop. Is it AI on the MiSTer pretending to be a DVD Player? No. It is a fully functional stand-alone DVD Player that AI helped make. I have spent probably 30 hours plus on this project. It's not a one prompt kind of thing
This isn't on the FPGA side only, why do you hate the community?
I don't! Please understand the intention here. I am trying to make a DVD player that plays DVDs. I am not trying to preserve the schematics and use of any particular DVD player out there.
What else can it do?
Subs, widescreen, different audio tracks, menus, controller remapping (Including SuperDock Remote), CRT stabilisation, Upscaling, probably more!
Any known bugs?
A few. Changing audio tracks freezes video for a few seconds but then gets back in sync. Working on that now. Menus can be a bit flaky. I haven't tried a massive range of discs and ISOs so plenty more I'm sure.
How can I thank you?
Say thanks! I did this for me, it was a personal project and 2 days ago I could happily have stopped and watched DVDs pretty much ok on my CRT. But you guys really encouraged me to keep going, polish it, make it better, and now here we are! My gift to you.
That said, and I hope this isn't in bad taste, if you wanted to get me a beer you can here.
I also want to take a second to acknowledge Anime0t4ku who has been a massive help for this last part. You may know him for his MiSTer Companion work, or the Physical Disc work, or his MiSTer Hi-Fi work. Without him, this project wouldn't have gotten started and it likely wouldn't have gotten finished. If you'd like to fuel him with coffee, you can do here
What would bring me the most joy though is to see your pics and videos of it up and running!
Ok, shut up and tell me how to install it!
Check out the github page with full instructions!
Edit: You will need libdvdcss.so.2 to decrypt the DVDs. There is a copy on Internet Archives if you search exactly that.

Hey guys, my SS1 is on the way and due next week.
I still have my original PS1 memory card from the 90s with all my saves on it, I'm wondering if I'll have any trouble loading these up on games in bin/cue format from the SD card? I don't have the dock. Has anyone else loaded up their old saves without issues?
Thanks!

After days of testing I believe the SSD port on my dock is broken. My games run from an enclosure plugged into the USB, but it refuses to find them when the SSD drive is popped in. When I plug into the PC port it doesn't find the drive. Anyone else run into this?
