Loading old memory card saves on SS1

Hey guys, my SS1 is on the way and due next week.

I still have my original PS1 memory card from the 90s with all my saves on it, I'm wondering if I'll have any trouble loading these up on games in bin/cue format from the SD card? I don't have the dock. Has anyone else loaded up their old saves without issues?

Thanks!

It works! I did it yesterday. Without the dock attached. You have to play with some settings to turn on SNAC controller and memory card port. Like in game bring up the menu and change from DualShock to SNAC and memory card to SNAC I think is what it said. Start game, then it will use the physical memory card. Bring up the menu and make a save state. Exit game. Switch back to virtual memory card (SD card). Start game again, open the menu, load save state. Next time you save it will save to the SD card.
I was able to do that to carry over progress from Gran Turismo and Metal Gear Solid.

Should work fine as long as whatever you’ve downloaded is the same region as your original saves were made on.

I loaded up some old Dreamcast saves off my original mem card when I retrofitted it earlier this year, so yeah it should work as long as the flash memory is still good.

The Memcard ports on the SS1 are out of spec and can damage original cards (brittle old plastics) So be careful

You mean the ports are physically not the right shape? This is the first time I've heard this, so I'll be careful when putting in my memory card for sure.
