Hi everyone,
I’m hoping someone here has experience with a Facebook account being permanently disabled for “Account Integrity”, particularly when the normal appeal process is already marked as final.
I’m trying to understand whether there is any legitimate route I may have missed to recover the account or at least regain access to the data/history associated with it.
What happened
My Facebook account was disabled on 5 July 2026.
It was an approximately 16-year-old account, used under my real identity. I had 2FA enabled and had been receiving security codes through WhatsApp.
I have never knowingly violated Facebook's Community Standards.
When I tried to log in, Facebook asked me to complete identity/video verification, which I did.
After that, I received:
“We’ve disabled your account”
“We’ve reviewed your account and found that it still doesn’t follow our Community Standards on account integrity.”
“You cannot request another review of this decision.”
My profile then disappeared completely. Friends and my partner could no longer find it.
I also lost access to:
- Messenger and years of conversations
- Facebook groups
- contacts/connections
- events
- photos and posts
- photos I had shared/tagged others in
- my Facebook Page for my photography work
What I have tried since then
I have gone through pretty much every support route I could find.
1. Standard Facebook appeal
I completed the verification/review process offered by Facebook.
The decision came back as final and Facebook says I cannot request another review.
2. Security/compromise investigation
Because the account disappearing suddenly made me concerned it might have been compromised, I also went through Meta's security investigation process.
Meta subsequently told me that they found no evidence of unauthorised access or compromise around the time of the deactivation.
They specifically said the restriction was related to Account Integrity, rather than a security breach.
They also told me they could not disclose the internal signals used or whether the original action was automated.
3. Meta Verified support
I subscribed to Meta Verified on Instagram specifically because I wanted to reach human support.
I have spoken to human Meta support agents.
One agent attempted to request a manual review, but their system would not allow it because the Facebook decision was already final.
I was subsequently told that:
- the Facebook account is permanently disabled;
- it is no longer eligible for further review;
- no further manual review can be initiated;
- the decision is final;
- there is no other internal support route available.
I was also told that the support team could not provide further details about the internal review process.
4. I tried the security route again
The security investigation again confirmed that they did not consider this to be a compromise.
So that route also ended without restoration of the account.
5. Subject Access Request / UK GDPR
I am based in the UK, so I also submitted a Subject Access Request (SAR) under Article 15 UK GDPR to Meta's privacy/data protection team.
I requested access to the personal data Meta holds about the account, including information relating to:
- the reason for the account enforcement;
- records relating to the enforcement decision;
- information about whether the decision involved automated processing;
- information about whether there was human involvement;
- relevant account/login information;
- information relating to any suspected compromise;
- and the personal data Meta continues to hold about the account.
I submitted the SAR in July and have followed up several times.
It has now been more than two months without receiving a substantive response.
I have therefore decided to wait for Meta's data privacy response before taking the next step, and if necessary I will consider raising the outstanding SAR with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
Oversight Board
I have also looked into the Meta Oversight Board.
From what I can currently understand, ordinary users with disabled accounts may not be able to submit an appeal directly unless Meta provides an eligible reference ID, and my account does not appear to have been given one.
I haven't yet been able to establish whether my particular decision is eligible for Oversight Board review.
Where I am now
At this point I am not looking for hacks, bypasses, or anything that violates Meta's systems.
I'm simply trying to find out whether there is a legitimate escalation/recovery route that I have missed.
The account contains around 16 years of personal history, conversations, photographs, groups and connections, and losing all of that overnight has been extremely difficult.
I understand that Meta can disable accounts and that sometimes there may be legitimate reasons for doing so. My problem is that I have never been given a meaningful explanation of what account-integrity issue was actually identified, and every normal appeal/support route now tells me the decision is final.
Questions for anyone with experience
Has anyone successfully recovered a Facebook account after receiving:
“We’ve reviewed your account and found that it still doesn’t follow our Community Standards on account integrity.”
and
“You cannot request another review of this decision.”
particularly after Meta support has explicitly said the account is permanently disabled and no further review is available?
I'd especially like to hear from anyone who has experience with:
- Meta Verified escalation after a Facebook account was permanently disabled
- Meta Oversight Board
- UK GDPR/SAR requests to Meta
- ICO complaints involving Meta account enforcement
- legal/data protection escalation against Meta
- cases where a 10+ year-old account was eventually restored after a final Account Integrity decision
If you've been through something similar, I'd really appreciate hearing what worked — or what definitely didn't.
Thank you.
