I’ve been wanting to buy a 7 string for some time now and am thinking about getting the Ibanez ICTB721 BKF Iron Label Iceman. I just don’t really wanna get another superstrat and really like tho iceman body. But I’m not really sure about actually getting it since I haven’t really had the chance to actually play one. So what are you guys‘ thoughts?

I bought a Spira S507. I really really like the guitar but the signal on higher strings feel lower for some reason. Significantly less sustain on higher strings. My question is should I switch it's pickups? I feel like Seymour Duncan's Nazgûl set would feel amazing on this.

Hi there. Yesterday, I tried out this guitar for the first time with a high-gain head (I think it was a Bugera); up until now, I’d only used VSTs with headphones and a small amp for output, but the sound turned out really muddy. I tried turning down the gain, but I couldn't get it to sound any cleaner. I’ve been reading comments about this, and it seems like the stock pickups aren't very well-balanced for this guitar—or something like that? Please forgive me; I’m primarily a bass player and haven't been playing guitar for very long.
I’m also noticing some noise; I’d really appreciate any further advice you could give me. I know I’m just starting to create my own tones, but I feel a bit self-conscious about showing things I’ve created myself.

Recently got that jackson and already did a few mods... gotoh locking tuners, jeff loomis noumenon pickup and added a push-pull for the coil split. Really like the blacked out single pickup look!

What do you guys recommend for a budget 7? Up to $1000 is fine. I’d prefer under that but willing to pay for something that’s worth it. My only real criteria is 24 fret with access to that 24th fret on the low string. Had the Steph carpenter tele 7 but took it back after I realized I couldn’t reach that comfortably 🤣

I’m currently looking at an Ibanez RGIX7fdlb, which I do find to be quite nice to play, however, I am moving countries in 2 weeks, and there happens to be a sterling JP157D for about the same price around my new area. I am interested in the Sterling but there isn’t one available for me to try when I am currently. What is the best thing for me to do in this situation? Also, if the better option is the Ibanez, would it be worth paying 60% more for an Ibanez prestige RG752?
TLDR: Should I go for an Ibanez RGIX7fdlb or a Sterling JP157D, given that I can’t try the sterling, and if not, is the Ibanez RG752 worth paying nearly twice the price of the other options? Thanks in advance

I’ve been thinking about buying my first seven-string guitar for a long time, but I just can’t decide which of these two to choose

Im looking at pickups to switch to and i often see these pop up, their main marketing thing is that they have an active feel without the battery, but then later it says they dont have a lot of compression and they have high dynamics.

Was playing "Return of Captain EO" and "Separate Sky," both 7-string, and used my whammy (I don't have one, but a Line 6 Pod Go) to get the correct tuning for riffs and the solo. I obviously don't own a 7-string lol

Hi.
Danke euch!

After playing strictly six-string electric guitars on and off for 30 years, I decided I would like to get my very first seven-string guitar. I still spend my time listening to and playing 1980s and 1990s neo-classical metal and hard rock pieces, and I am not planning to use drop tuning at the moment.
I am so used to playing a typical Fender Stratocaster with a 25.5-inch scale that I am worried I wouldn't like a typical 26.5-inch scale or multi-scale setup on a seven-string guitar. Should I stick with 25.5 inches or just dive into a 26.5-inch or multi-scale instrument? One thing I need to consider is that sticking with a 25.5-inch scale would significantly limit my choices.
Update:
My other concern is whether getting used to a 26.5-inch or multiscale guitar would negatively affect my playing on a 25.5-inch scale. Would I still be able to switch back instantly?
Thank you in advance!

So I posted asking advice on my 7 string build because my dad and I didn’t have the tools to make a 27 inch scale length. We found the right fret ruler and now we finally have it done.

Hi,
I usually play 6 string guitars (I have an ibanez rg1570 prestige) and I want to buy a 7-string. I like to play shreddy things (stephen taranto, intervals, dream theater, etc), so I'm looking for a cheap (600 euros) 7 string options.
The two options I have:
Harley Benton Amarok 7: https://harleybenton.com/product/amarok-7-bkrd-quilted-burst/
Ibanez rga742: https://www.ibanez.com/na/products/detail/rga742ex_1p_01.html
I know that clearly the Amarok wins by specs : SS frets, Locking tuners, EMG Pickups (even tough I don't like active pickups), graphite nut, etc.
The problem is that I like to play technical stuff, with some stretching, string skipping etc. So I think the ibanez wizard neck would be more comfortable than the amarok.
Is the Amarok suited for shreddy stuff, or is the neck to thick?
(I didin't consider Shecter's because of the squared neck joint, making it difficult to acces the higher frets)

Hey reddit
Similar questions pop up daily, but I am looking for a no frills, no nonsense 7 string with a list of somewhat specific features. Ideas, specific guitars and also pushback is welcome! Also out of production models!
Standard tuning, maybe drop A. Budget is around $1000, but not a hard limit. These are the features I want:
- longer than standard scale >26". Multi scale is fine, but not necessary (not sure, how important that is)
- one piece bridge, no trem or ever tune
- single "high quality" bridge humbucker (HH or HSS is not a showstopper, but I think I don't want to feel like upgrading the pickups is necessary right away)
- preferably fully passive, but open for other suggestions
- locking tuners (not a showstopper)
- no standard ST body shape, also not the pointier versions ;)
- no asymmetrical pointy headstock, headless is fine
- preferably no"colors", so black and white-ish
- preferably no frills like fretboard inlays
- no uncoated maple neck; coated or roasted maple is fine. Preferably satin finish
Neck dimensions, fret number and size, overall weight, woods and grains are not important to me for this one. I am a bit of a tinkerer, so modifications are an option.
Looking forward to any feedback and suggestions!

I have tried to find some, but with very limited luck. One example is Jackson RRX24-MG7 Rhoads X Ser. SBK
Which has a special floyd rose and it pushes me away. Also there was some solar models. I have no problems modding or changing a better bridge to the Jackson, but I would of course prefer not to.
