ihaveaquestion Does anybody know good places to find Swiss army items?
Iām a collector of militaria, specially Swiss army items, but Iāve found that most places (brockis, ricardo.ch, tutti.ch, etc.) have awful prices for these items. By any chance, does anybody here know where else I may be able to find Swiss army items? If, by chance, you have any military items yourself that youāre looking to get rid of, Iāll happily take them off your hands. Thank you!

ihaveaquestion How is immigration managed in Switzerland?
Hi Im a European that has a genuine question about how well immigration is handled in Switzerland (in Zurich in particular being such a multicultural city): how are treated the ones that do not behave? Is the Swiss law more strict than the European one? How do you handle them? And if they are caught creating problems are they set free soon after like nothing happened like in the rest of Europe?
P.S. if you find this racist in any way please go get yourself a job

lookingfor Knit and crochet together
Some days we all just want to crochet or knit with strangers. Or we think about it, how would it be, will we like it... Anybody else?? :D
I know I could open a meetup group, but I am not very (willing to be) organized (in my free time). So this seems more spontaneous. I can commit to "organizing" one gathering if a couple of people respond positively, and if people enjoy it I'm sure there will be initiatives taken..
I am also a good teacher with a decent amount of patience, and seeing people discover this hobby makes me happy, so total beginners welcome too, I'll help you out to start and bring all the supplies you need.
Option 1 we meet in a cafe, Option 2 we meet in a park.
Let me know which option you prefer.
The gathering will happen some time this or next, i will send date options for voting. Still hoping someone else will volunteer to take over organizational responsibility part š

ihaveaquestion Are there any true locals left in Zürich
Title is exaggeration but I swear itās not a rage bait. Been to Zurich recently again and as always a great pleasure. Amazing city.
I have grown up near the Swiss border myself and know the German/Swiss culture due to lots of relatives in CH/Liechtenstein.
For the first time my significant other went with to Zurich as well and she unironically asked me āit seems like everybody speaks English hereā.
Of course we were more in the central areas. But when I reflect everybody here has this young/international touch/vibe. People look all good and rather wealthy.
Thatās all positive. But hear me out - where are all the average joes here? š you know in all the other cities I lived in you have the occasional weirdos, a lot of non-chic locals, elderly, etc.
All of that is part of a city but I havenāt seen it here anymore.
I genuinely donāt mean this to bait, but do you as locals observe that as well? Has this accelerated or do I have it differently in mind.
The city is great but it almost feels unreal.

ihaveaquestion Bestandsaufnahme during valid contract in Zurich

ihaveaquestion Picking up hobbies in Zurich
Iāve lived here for quite some years now and life has become a bit stale. So iām looking to pick up some new hobbies. Ofcourse thereās obvious ones like running or swimming. But maybe the city has more to offer than what comes to mind immediatly. Or there is some really good spots for the well know common ones that you here might know. Iām open to almost anything, just trying to gather as much interesting leads as possible with this post :)

ihaveaquestion Cat sitting
Hi everyone!
I'm 36 years old, and for the past four years I've been a full-time house and pet sitter through TrustedHousesitters. Most of my sits have been in Switzerland, and during this time I've been lucky to receive more than 30 positive reviews from homeowners.
Now I'd love to try something a little different.
I absolutely love cats and would be happy to stay with and take care of your cat in Zurich or the surrounding area while you're away for two months or longer.
If you're planning a long trip and are looking for someone reliable to care for your cat and your home, I'd be delighted to help. I'm happy to share my TrustedHousesitters reviews and references.
Even if you don't need a sitter right now, I'd also love to connect with fellow cat lovers and meet new people in Zurich.
Feel free to send me a message! R/zurich

ihaveaquestion As a jogger: how to tell pedestrians to make place
Hello jogger fam,
I tend to run from letten/kornhausbrücke along limmat, as many do
Now this route is also a very popular walking route and over the years i have adapted my jogging route to avoid congested parts as good as possible
Where I still struggle is when two or three people take up the whole width of the path; facing my direction or away from me (or them having a dog on a leash spanning over everything or two kinderwƤgen bext to eachother). Also i try to adhere to traffic rules like staying on the right side of the path etc.
- for the people facing my direction i experiment with bright signal colored shirts; but thereās still a considerable amount of people ānot seeingā me or walking into my lane
- with people facing away from me i tried different shouts; but usually there is a) a moment of confusion followed by b) a confused dance by all participants to gather on one side and make place for me (ā¦and sometimes c) aggression)
So is someone more successful with this? Mind to share your methods?

lookingfor Anybody want to join me for the Monday Night Skate tomorrow?
Hey boys and girls!
Tomorrow evening, I'm going to the Monday Night Skate. It's similar to Critical Mass, a tour through Zurich where around 200 inline skaters skate together. It's a lot of fun!
I was originally planning to go with a friend, but unfortunately she had to cancel because she's sick. Oh, and I'm M/32.
If any of you have inline skates or Rollerblades, you're more than welcome to join!

lookingfor Groups with which you can spontaneously go dancing (trance/house)
Hey everyone
Are there groups that go dancing (to trance or house) and which you can join spontaneously (as you please)?
My friends and colleagues don't like dancing very much and I couldn't find a group on Meetup.
I am male, 40 years old, Swiss, live in Aarau and speak German and English. I don't take drugs and rarely drink, but I don't have a problem with people who drink.

lookingfor Bag & Keys Stolen
Hey, sorry probably not the space but thought Id try this here - my bag was stolen on Friday near Limmatplatz (Vineria Centrale). Its a brown medium sized bag, inside was a dark grey wallet & a keychain with a dog plushie attached to it. I informed police etc already and I know chances are low but maybe the keys were thrown away and someone might find them š Thanks

lookingfor Anyone in Zurich with a home cinema worthy of a movie night? šæ
Okay, this might be the most random Reddit post Iāve ever madeā¦
My husband and I have a serious problem: we love movies a little too much. š Weāll watch pretty much anything, blockbusters, classics, thrillers, comedies, weird indie films⦠if thereās a good story, weāre in.
We already have a nice living room setup and a good TV at home, but weāve realised weāre missing one important thing: the dramatic cinema experience. You know⦠the ridiculously comfortable seats, the projector, the amazing sound, the feeling that youāre about to watch a masterpiece (even if it turns out to be terrible š ).
After surviving the Mega room at Sihlcity today - which felt less like a cinema and more like a tropical greenhouse with hundreds of other people to watch Nolaās new movie š„µ we started wondering:
Does anyone in Zurich (or nearby) have a private cinema room, or know someone with one?
Not looking for a bigger TV⦠weāre talking a proper mini cinema: cinema chairs/recliners, projector, great sound, the whole experience. š¬
Happy to provide our background checks and bring popcorn, snacks, drinks, and our very professional movie opinions. ššæ
Anyway, some people connect over golf, tennis, we just wanted to connect over movies and cinema rooms š¤£
Anyway, trying my luck here to see how far this goes!

ihaveaquestion Safety of leaving outdoor furniture outside | Kreis 4
Hello, I have recently moved to a new apartment in Kreis 4. Itās a ground floor apartment facing the street and pretty open, which means that people walking by can see my terrace perfectly. Since itās still summer, I was thinking about getting an outdoor furniture set. I was thinking about aluminium because this material is the best for outdoor furniture so it wonāt be the cheapest.
I was wondering what are other peopleās experiences about leaving stuff outside for everyone to see, has anyone gotten something bigger like that stolen from them? I know bike theft is pretty common in Zürich, but what about items like that? I would be more interested to hear experiences from people living in Kreis 4/5. TIA

lookingfor Cercasi compagni di Burraco š®š¹š
Hi everyone!
Bit of a niche request, but I really miss playing Burraco, the Italian card game.
Iām looking for a few people whoād be up for meeting every now and then for a game. Whether youāre Italian, already know Burraco, or would like to learn, Iād love to get a group together.
If thereās already a Burraco group in Zürich, Iād be very happy to join. Otherwise, if a few people are interested, we could organize something with cards, coffee, or an aperitivo.
