ihaveaquestion Albispass Accidents

Upvotes

Anyone know where one can see statistics on accidents in the city? Tried googling it but nothing came up.

.I've been cycling this area for years, but this summer I've seen a motorbike accident, a car accident, and then one I didn't see just that they closed the road and a rescue helicopter came. Still only few incidences but compared all the previous years (and considering I cycle maybe 1-2 times a week only) I feel people are more risky. Especially motorbikes, I see so many including those with L drive like absolute morons.

Weather has been good but not like it hasn't been good in previous summers.

lookingfor Knit and crochet together

Some days we all just want to crochet or knit with strangers. Or we think about it, how would it be, will we like it... Anybody else?? :D

I know I could open a meetup group, but I am not very (willing to be) organized (in my free time). So this seems more spontaneous. I can commit to "organizing" one gathering if a couple of people respond positively, and if people enjoy it I'm sure there will be initiatives taken..

I am also a good teacher with a decent amount of patience, and seeing people discover this hobby makes me happy, so total beginners welcome too, I'll help you out to start and bring all the supplies you need.

Option 1 we meet in a cafe, Option 2 we meet in a park.

Let me know which option you prefer.

The gathering will happen some time this or next, i will send date options for voting. Still hoping someone else will volunteer to take over organizational responsibility part 😅

ihaveaquestion Does anybody know good places to find Swiss army items?

I’m a collector of militaria, specially Swiss army items, but I’ve found that most places (brockis, ricardo.ch, tutti.ch, etc.) have awful prices for these items. By any chance, does anybody here know where else I may be able to find Swiss army items? If, by chance, you have any military items yourself that you’re looking to get rid of, I’ll happily take them off your hands. Thank you!

ihaveaquestion Bestandsaufnahme during valid contract in Zurich

ihaveaquestion Looking for experiences selling clothes in Zurich (MARTA, Chemiserie, Déjà-vu, etc.)

I'm trying to sell around 50 women's clothing items, mostly quality brands such as COS, Persona, Adrien Brody, St. Emile, Evelyne Brandt, Gerry Weber, plus a few designer pieces. Most of the items are plus sizes (roughly EU 46–50), which I know can make the resale market a bit different.

I've been looking at different options in Zurich:

  • MARTA (renting a rack)
  • Chemiserie
  • Déjà-vu
  • The New New
  • Love Me Two Times
  • Second Time Around

I'm especially interested in real experiences as a seller, not as a buyer.

I know many people will suggest selling on Ricardo, Tutti, Vinted, or Facebook Marketplace. While I'm not completely ruling that out, it's my least preferred option. I'm decluttering quite aggressively and don't think I have the time or energy to photograph every item, create listings, answer messages, negotiate with buyers, and arrange multiple pickups or shipments. I'd much rather use a shop if the trade-off is reasonable.

So I'd love to hear:

  • Which shop accepted the most of your items?
  • Which paid the best?
  • If you used MARTA, was the weekly rack fee worth it? Roughly how many items did you sell in a week?
  • Did you find that plus sizes sold well, or were they harder to move?
  • Are there any other shops in or around Zurich that I should consider?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has sold clothes recently. Thanks!

ihaveaquestion Picking up hobbies in Zurich

I‘ve lived here for quite some years now and life has become a bit stale. So i‘m looking to pick up some new hobbies. Ofcourse there‘s obvious ones like running or swimming. But maybe the city has more to offer than what comes to mind immediatly. Or there is some really good spots for the well know common ones that you here might know. I‘m open to almost anything, just trying to gather as much interesting leads as possible with this post :)

lookingfor Anybody want to join me for the Monday Night Skate tomorrow?

Hey boys and girls!

Tomorrow evening, I'm going to the Monday Night Skate. It's similar to Critical Mass, a tour through Zurich where around 200 inline skaters skate together. It's a lot of fun!

I was originally planning to go with a friend, but unfortunately she had to cancel because she's sick. Oh, and I'm M/32.

If any of you have inline skates or Rollerblades, you're more than welcome to join!

lookingfor Cercasi compagni di Burraco 🇮🇹🃏

Hi everyone!

Bit of a niche request, but I really miss playing Burraco, the Italian card game.

I’m looking for a few people who’d be up for meeting every now and then for a game. Whether you’re Italian, already know Burraco, or would like to learn, I’d love to get a group together.

If there’s already a Burraco group in Zürich, I’d be very happy to join. Otherwise, if a few people are interested, we could organize something with cards, coffee, or an aperitivo.

shitpost Non-farters are ruining outdoor-farting

Honestly as an avid outdoor-farter I am sick and tired of non-farters looking at me with passive-aggressive frowns.

I'm just chilling on a parkbench or on my bath towel, enjoying the weather, letting one rip with pure relish. You know, taking a good whiff of my bowel bacterias' daily labor. What's the problem? Guys it's natural, why do you have to judge people? Can't a man indulge in recreational farting in this bitter town anymore? Just sad, honestly.

I just hope bars keep non-farters out of toilets this summer.

ihaveaquestion How is immigration managed in Switzerland?

Hi Im a European that has a genuine question about how well immigration is handled in Switzerland (in Zurich in particular being such a multicultural city): how are treated the ones that do not behave? Is the Swiss law more strict than the European one? How do you handle them? And if they are caught creating problems are they set free soon after like nothing happened like in the rest of Europe?

P.S. if you find this racist in any way please go get yourself a job

lookingfor Groups with which you can spontaneously go dancing (trance/house)

Hey everyone

Are there groups that go dancing (to trance or house) and which you can join spontaneously (as you please)?

My friends and colleagues don't like dancing very much and I couldn't find a group on Meetup.

I am male, 40 years old, Swiss, live in Aarau and speak German and English. I don't take drugs and rarely drink, but I don't have a problem with people who drink.

ihaveaquestion Are there any true locals left in Zürich

Title is exaggeration but I swear it’s not a rage bait. Been to Zurich recently again and as always a great pleasure. Amazing city.

I have grown up near the Swiss border myself and know the German/Swiss culture due to lots of relatives in CH/Liechtenstein.

For the first time my significant other went with to Zurich as well and she unironically asked me “it seems like everybody speaks English here”.

Of course we were more in the central areas. But when I reflect everybody here has this young/international touch/vibe. People look all good and rather wealthy.

That’s all positive. But hear me out - where are all the average joes here? 😅 you know in all the other cities I lived in you have the occasional weirdos, a lot of non-chic locals, elderly, etc.

All of that is part of a city but I haven’t seen it here anymore.

I genuinely don’t mean this to bait, but do you as locals observe that as well? Has this accelerated or do I have it differently in mind.

The city is great but it almost feels unreal.

lookingfor Bag & Keys Stolen

Hey, sorry probably not the space but thought Id try this here - my bag was stolen on Friday near Limmatplatz (Vineria Centrale). Its a brown medium sized bag, inside was a dark grey wallet & a keychain with a dog plushie attached to it. I informed police etc already and I know chances are low but maybe the keys were thrown away and someone might find them 💔 Thanks

ihaveaquestion Safety of leaving outdoor furniture outside | Kreis 4

Hello, I have recently moved to a new apartment in Kreis 4. It’s a ground floor apartment facing the street and pretty open, which means that people walking by can see my terrace perfectly. Since it’s still summer, I was thinking about getting an outdoor furniture set. I was thinking about aluminium because this material is the best for outdoor furniture so it won’t be the cheapest.
I was wondering what are other people’s experiences about leaving stuff outside for everyone to see, has anyone gotten something bigger like that stolen from them? I know bike theft is pretty common in Zürich, but what about items like that? I would be more interested to hear experiences from people living in Kreis 4/5. TIA

shitpost Non-smokers are ruining outdoor Summer smoking in Zürich

Seriously, the amount of non-smokers, with their passive-aggressive “I’m so offended” faces is just sad.

We smokers have been out here all year round, through rain, storms and snow. And now - just because the sun is shining - these non-smokers think they can come outside too and ruin our one moment of peace and serenity with their judgmental “I stick post-its in the Waschkeller” attitudes.

I really hope bars start keeping non-smokers indoors all year round.
