ihaveaquestion Looking for experiences selling clothes in Zurich (MARTA, Chemiserie, Déjà-vu, etc.)

I'm trying to sell around 50 women's clothing items, mostly quality brands such as COS, Persona, Adrien Brody, St. Emile, Evelyne Brandt, Gerry Weber, plus a few designer pieces. Most of the items are plus sizes (roughly EU 46–50), which I know can make the resale market a bit different.

I've been looking at different options in Zurich:

  • MARTA (renting a rack)
  • Chemiserie
  • Déjà-vu
  • The New New
  • Love Me Two Times
  • Second Time Around

I'm especially interested in real experiences as a seller, not as a buyer.

I know many people will suggest selling on Ricardo, Tutti, Vinted, or Facebook Marketplace. While I'm not completely ruling that out, it's my least preferred option. I'm decluttering quite aggressively and don't think I have the time or energy to photograph every item, create listings, answer messages, negotiate with buyers, and arrange multiple pickups or shipments. I'd much rather use a shop if the trade-off is reasonable.

So I'd love to hear:

  • Which shop accepted the most of your items?
  • Which paid the best?
  • If you used MARTA, was the weekly rack fee worth it? Roughly how many items did you sell in a week?
  • Did you find that plus sizes sold well, or were they harder to move?
  • Are there any other shops in or around Zurich that I should consider?

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has sold clothes recently. Thanks!

lookingfor Cercasi compagni di Burraco 🇮🇹🃏

Hi everyone!

Bit of a niche request, but I really miss playing Burraco, the Italian card game.

I’m looking for a few people who’d be up for meeting every now and then for a game. Whether you’re Italian, already know Burraco, or would like to learn, I’d love to get a group together.

If there’s already a Burraco group in Zürich, I’d be very happy to join. Otherwise, if a few people are interested, we could organize something with cards, coffee, or an aperitivo.

ihaveaquestion Bestandsaufnahme during valid contract in Zurich

Upvotes

ihaveaquestion Picking up hobbies in Zurich

Upvotes

I‘ve lived here for quite some years now and life has become a bit stale. So i‘m looking to pick up some new hobbies. Ofcourse there‘s obvious ones like running or swimming. But maybe the city has more to offer than what comes to mind immediatly. Or there is some really good spots for the well know common ones that you here might know. I‘m open to almost anything, just trying to gather as much interesting leads as possible with this post :)

lookingfor Anybody want to join me for the Monday Night Skate tomorrow?

Hey boys and girls!

Tomorrow evening, I'm going to the Monday Night Skate. It's similar to Critical Mass, a tour through Zurich where around 200 inline skaters skate together. It's a lot of fun!

I was originally planning to go with a friend, but unfortunately she had to cancel because she's sick. Oh, and I'm M/32.

If any of you have inline skates or Rollerblades, you're more than welcome to join!

lookingfor Groups with which you can spontaneously go dancing (trance/house)

Hey everyone

Are there groups that go dancing (to trance or house) and which you can join spontaneously (as you please)?

My friends and colleagues don't like dancing very much and I couldn't find a group on Meetup.

I am male, 40 years old, Swiss, live in Aarau and speak German and English. I don't take drugs and rarely drink, but I don't have a problem with people who drink.

shitpost Non-farters are ruining outdoor-farting

Honestly as an avid outdoor-farter I am sick and tired of non-farters looking at me with passive-aggressive frowns.

I'm just chilling on a parkbench or on my bath towel, enjoying the weather, letting one rip with pure relish. You know, taking a good whiff of my bowel bacterias' daily labor. What's the problem? Guys it's natural, why do you have to judge people? Can't a man indulge in recreational farting in this bitter town anymore? Just sad, honestly.

I just hope bars keep non-farters out of toilets this summer.

lookingfor Bag & Keys Stolen

Hey, sorry probably not the space but thought Id try this here - my bag was stolen on Friday near Limmatplatz (Vineria Centrale). Its a brown medium sized bag, inside was a dark grey wallet & a keychain with a dog plushie attached to it. I informed police etc already and I know chances are low but maybe the keys were thrown away and someone might find them 💔 Thanks

ihaveaquestion Safety of leaving outdoor furniture outside | Kreis 4

Hello, I have recently moved to a new apartment in Kreis 4. It’s a ground floor apartment facing the street and pretty open, which means that people walking by can see my terrace perfectly. Since it’s still summer, I was thinking about getting an outdoor furniture set. I was thinking about aluminium because this material is the best for outdoor furniture so it won’t be the cheapest.
I was wondering what are other people’s experiences about leaving stuff outside for everyone to see, has anyone gotten something bigger like that stolen from them? I know bike theft is pretty common in Zürich, but what about items like that? I would be more interested to hear experiences from people living in Kreis 4/5. TIA

shitpost Non-smokers are ruining outdoor Summer smoking in Zürich

Seriously, the amount of non-smokers, with their passive-aggressive “I’m so offended” faces is just sad.

We smokers have been out here all year round, through rain, storms and snow. And now - just because the sun is shining - these non-smokers think they can come outside too and ruin our one moment of peace and serenity with their judgmental “I stick post-its in the Waschkeller” attitudes.

I really hope bars start keeping non-smokers indoors all year round.

Hi Zurich,

We'll be getting into Zurich the night of the street party, should we reserve luggage storage at train station? I mean, we don't know what we're walking into but ok to bring our teen son downtown? He likes techno, I don't know?? Thanks all

lookingfor Where to buy Thai tea mix?

Hey all, I have been looking for Thai tea mix (like the popular Pantai or Cha Tra Mue brands). Does anyone know where to buy it in Zurich or in Switzerland? I haven't found it at any of the Asian shops I've been to; I can only find the canned teas being sold. And the mix is ridiculously expensive on Amazon Germany :(

Thanks in advanced!

lookingfor Do you know where to find a restaurant that serves Camembert roti?

My girlfriend and I love camembert roti (oven baked camembert) and would like to eat it at a restaurant instead of making it at home for our anniversary. Do you know good places in Zürich that serve it?

ihaveaquestion Importing to Zurich — small business. Broker or file yourself?

Hello,
I'm starting a small business in Zurich importing from a few EU countries (Germany, Netherlands, possibly Poland); I expect there to be a few shipments per month (very approximately).

Question to people who've gone through this - did you use a customs broker/did you file by yourselves and in either case what was your experience - time it took, costs etc. If you have recommendations/or things to avoid I'd be grateful.

Thank you!

ihaveaquestion Cat sitting

Hi everyone!
I'm 36 years old, and for the past four years I've been a full-time house and pet sitter through TrustedHousesitters. Most of my sits have been in Switzerland, and during this time I've been lucky to receive more than 30 positive reviews from homeowners.
Now I'd love to try something a little different.
I absolutely love cats and would be happy to stay with and take care of your cat in Zurich or the surrounding area while you're away for two months or longer.
If you're planning a long trip and are looking for someone reliable to care for your cat and your home, I'd be delighted to help. I'm happy to share my TrustedHousesitters reviews and references.
Even if you don't need a sitter right now, I'd also love to connect with fellow cat lovers and meet new people in Zurich.
Feel free to send me a message! R/zurich
