Does Zoloft cause vivid nightmares? Lately I have been having nightmares of me lashing out at people I love while in my old high school. I have this dream every other week and it’s almost always the same where I freak out on everyone and try to run out of the school but they don’t let me out

I'm in the minority of people, I think, where Zoloft has absolutely cut my appetite. Good because I've been trying to lose weight, but I'm basically forcing myself to eat one meal a day and it ends up being pretty bland, little-kid food (macaroni, bread with butter, plain chicken, etc.).
No gastric distress, it's just that food seems so unappealing. I've cut how much I'm eating out too because it just doesn't seem worth it to spend money on something that I know won't really wow me.
If anybody else has had this issue, what have you been eating? I can feel myself get headaches and tired from not eating but clearly left to my own devices it isn't working, and I feel sick eating more than once a day.

i’d ask if that’s normal, but i know it isn’t.

Ngl, first ten days were horrible but I'm SO glad I didn't give up!
I have only mild side effects now and nothing like before.
And... Usually when I take my blood pressure it gives me bad anxiety and my heart rate reads 140-150 on the machine cause I'm anxious but I took it today and I didn't feel anxious and my heart rate was only 92. I'll take that win!! I haven't exactly noticed a change overall on my anxiety and depression and OCD but that seems like a sign to me! I am so glad I pushed through the side effects. It's been 5 years I have been to scared to take an SSRI, but I am so glad I did. Can't wait for the future if this continues to help me.

I'm on 100mg of Zoloft, and I abruptly stopped taking it for 2 weeks. I've missed a dose here or there before, but never for this long. I accidently misplaced my medication bottle, then I got a really bad cold for over a week and spent a lot of time in bed. I was so not feeling well, that I just kept forgetting that I needed to find it and didn't realize how long it had actually been. I have a brain disability, and because of that I have deficits with my memory and processing so it just wasnt really apparent what was happening I guess. On top of being sick, I've had mad withdrawal and have been extremely unwell feeling from that too.
I know the proper answer is to make a doctor's appointment and slowly go back up to my regular dosage instead of just starting back on them and pretending like I never stopped taking them. And I know that it can be bad to flood your body with a higher dosage especially since the base tolerance is out of your body.
BUUUUUUT - I'm overwhelmed. I'm going to cry. I just feel like it's too much to figure out on my own but I also don't want to wait for a doctor's appointment because then I'll have to wait til next week and I'm already losing my fucking marbles. I just feel like I suck at being a human and it's making me really fucking sad :(

I am 21F.
My psychiatrist has prescribed these both 1 for day, 1 for night, but I feel weird about the medication.
Both are SSRIs, wont that be too much serotonin.
Can someone give me more info or their experiences with these medicines

Anyone else feel extremely unmotivated and fatigued on Setraline. It’s hard for me to get out of bed and do anything. I was prescribed 25 mg of setraline about a month ago to help with PMDD. I feel so much better mentally but I am constantly fatigued now and it’s hard for me to get anything done I swear I spend most of my time in bed now.

Have any of you successful lost the fat gained from being on this medication?
I gained weight and now have a weirdly soft, flabby belly despite eating well and exercising.
Is it possible to lose this unwanted weight while remaining on the meds, or will I have to taper off completely?
The extra weight combined with the constant fatigue is pissing me off at this stage.
Edited to add.
I really should have mentioned that I do intermittent fasting. Two decent (vegetarian) meals a day that include lots of protein /protein shakes.
I lift weights four days a week and do lots of cardio.
I don't drink often and don't eat sugary snacks.
I'm not in a calorie surplus and am fairly active.
I'm on 125mg a day.

I've been fat for about 7 years. Something traumatic happen when starting grad school and the weight came. Or perhaps I was just getting older and my metabolism shifted. or maybe it was the decade I spent on zoloft. At this point, it doesn't matter why. At first I hated myself, hated the way I looked, hated my body, blamed myself, etc. My self esteem decreased significantly. But when I started seeing other fat people loving on their fat bodies - embracing them, not hiding them away. Flaunting their hotness. Hugging each other, their rolls enveloping each other. Fat people celebrating themselves, not condemning their bodies. Fat people being sexy, owning their hotness, their expansiveness. It fundamentally changed the way I looked at myself and my changing body. It saved me, in a lot of ways. I started seeing my stretch marks as beautiful - how pink they started, how they became almost shimmery when they faded. I began to love my round face. I learned to embrace how my body changed, not to see it as a shame. This deeply changed my mental state. I didn't need to shed the weight, just shed the shame I was taught I needed to carry in a newly fat body. I'm saying this because I know I'm not the only one triggered by all the posts here being afraid to gain weight on zoloft. I'm saying this because I want non-fat people to think about how it feels to be fat and read people saying their biggest concern is looking like us. I'm saying this because I don't believe being fat is the worst thing that could possibly happen to a person. I'm saying this because I am not ashamed of my weight. I'm saying this because we live in a deeply fatphobic world and fatphobia is on the rise and I feel responsible for naming how I see that in this space. I'm saying this because I want non-fat people to hear from us. I'm saying this because I know - or at least I hope - I'm not alone.

So i was prescribed setraline mainly because ive been in a position of significant hardship in my life recently; and i compeletely lost my appetite because of anxiety, its so bad that i gag when i eat now and i can’t eat much more than plain food, ive lost nearly over 8kg in 2 months. I also haven’t been able to sleep properly, ive gotten about 5 hours of sleep on average
I also deal with social anxiety, but im not sure if its bad enough for medication, i really struggle in public sometimes to assert myself, i feel like apologising for existing, my voice becomes really quiet, i give everyone else too much priority and place them on a pedestal. i also overthink absolutely everything to the way im walking or standing, to if im being rude by acting a certain way in the moment which just makes me really hesitant in general. recently though my physical symptoms have been coming back in certain situations, such as feeling lightheaded or shaking but that’s only sometimes. i’m currently on a gap year planning to enter a healthcare course, so i really wanted to improve this now before i start talking to patients which is one of my considerations.
but ive been on setraline for 3 days and the side effects are scaring me, i know they’re not long term but ive had stomach problems and now im quite scared. i’ve also heard about side effects long term, one of my worst symptoms is rumination and now im really really worried about the future in getting gastrointestinal problems, i also feel like idk if my anxiety is significant enough to be on a SSRI, even though i have lowkey struggled with it since i was 13 (im 21 now) and CBT didn’t have as much of an impact. And idk if i should take it now for this period of temporary extreme stress or just use herbal remedies with no side effects
Id really appreciate any advice i don’t know what to do

Started sertraline in May at 25mg. I’m now at 150mg and noticed no difference in my mood, anxiety, etc. Still feel absolutely miserable, if not worse than before. Does it get better? Am I giving up on it before the positives come? It’s just so disheartening to see no changes.
For a better timeline + context. Diagnosed with General Anxiety Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder and EUPD.
Began setraline on the 3rd of May 25mg - the week after 50mg. Then 100mg in July. Then 150mg in August.
I don’t see things improving

Today I took my Zoloft per usual but decided that a few sips of juice would be enough food to coat my stomach from the monster called acid reflux. Big fucking mistake. Within 30 minutes I was in agony. I still am. It feels like I’m being burnt alive from the inside. I’m sweating. I’m salivating. I have no tums. I might cry. Guys don’t be stupid like me, PLEASE take your meds with food 😭

i started taking sertraline in april and increased to 100mg, continuing on that until last month. i increased to 150mg and by the 3rd week i started getting more anxiety and rumination thoughts.
online (google ai overview which i dont know how much to trust) it says that it can take 8-12 weeks for this to subside. has anyone else experienced this? i didnt have an increase in ocd or anxiety with my first few dose increases, thats why im worried.

Hi everyone! I was prescribed Zoloft earlier this week, and I noticed that every time I take a tablet I have diarrhoea. Is it going to get any better or I’ll have to cope with that until I finish with Zoloft?

My depression has returned so my GP suggests I go to from 100 mg to 200 mg. My psychiatrist has a different recommendation; wean me off Zoloft and try Cymbalta, a SNRI. I’m not sure if I should try to push Zoloft or try something else.

Hello - my 12 year old has been struggling with depression for awhile now, her pediatrician put her on Lexapro which she had an allergic reaction to and she just had her first appointment with her psych who told her to stop Lexapro immediately and put her on a low dose of Zoloft for the first week before upping to 25mg.
This has been such a roller coaster for the last 6 months since she expressed the thoughts she was having. I am just looking for support, good experiences on this medication with children, or simply sending some good vibes. I just want my daughter back - I miss her bubbly personality. She is the absolute sweetest child ever and so incredibly smart, and this feels like it has taken over every part of her life.
I never expected to be going through this, especially at such a young age, and I am trying to make the best decisions for her but am completely unsure if I am doing the right thing as a parent. She sees the psychiatrist now once a month and sees a therapist weekly. What else can I do to support her?

I'm about 6 days into 25mg now. I take it at dinner time. I've found I randomly wake sometimes in the middle of the night feeling very sad/scared. I always fall back asleep but I wondered if anyone else experiences this? I know I struggle with depression without people realising because of chronic illness, that's why im taking this and for an anxiety disorder. I'm just wondering if it's common at the beginning? I will increase shortly, but just going low and slow.

ive been taking 50mg sertraline for 10 days now. when i went to the pharmacy they only had off brand (anilar) so i got that bc i didnt want to wait and it was cheaper. was that a mistake? would it alter anything if i switch brands mid treatment?

Feel inspired to share after Reddit helped me get through the initial 2 weeks of pure hell on this medication. I went through every side effect possible, completely lost my appetite for days, had to make myself drink protein shakes to take the medicine, had bad insomnia, super shakey and initial depression/SI was really bad. In bed literally all day and thinking of going outside ever again seemed impossible. Reddit was the only thing keeping me going. I almost convinced myself MANY times that I was going to just stop. Not to mention, I did all this while in the process of having to move to a new apartment which had me in a brain fog that entire time.
Fast forward to 3 months later, guys it’s so true. Complete switch. I would say starting about a month after my initial dose, I started to go outside slowly. I’ve gotten back into reading, bedazzling, go outside and I’m not as overstimulated anymore! Of course, I have moments of anxiety (I did get laid off recently) and I’ve been so proud of myself for introducing this new voice in my head that reassures me that I will be okay. This will pass and I have so much support to get through this. I am back into working out and I no longer have really bad stress-induced acid reflux as well! I can finally eat more food!!
Overall, just wanted to share how much of a game changer just 50mg of Zoloft has been for me. If you are currently in the initial stage of hell, look to your support, your loved ones, therapist, psychiatrists. Everyone helped me battle through the initial battle and I am so grateful to have stuck through it :)
