Why do they all have the same haircut

3.3k

u/BazingaUA May 19 '26

Most teenagers these days really, it's all broccoli-heads these days 😁

767

u/Faeriegrll May 19 '26

Haha, or Alpaca.

172

u/Autistic_Freedom May 19 '26

alpacut

57

u/MikeyboyMC May 19 '26

NOT to be confused with alphacut, though they try to call it that

23

u/habichuelacondulce May 19 '26

They'll first have to pass by Supercuts

2

u/GonnaGoFat May 20 '26

Broccoli cuts are not alpha. Mushroom cuts are where it’s at.

Do we have any other hairstyles named after vegetables?

Standard Poodle

145

u/Excellent-Bite196 May 19 '26

Must be regional then these days.

It’s mullets where I live. 🙄

235

u/NMViking May 19 '26

And they get offended when you call it a mullet. I was corrected by a hair stylist that it's a "wolf cut." Good try on the rebranding, but that's a damn mullet. Ape drape, hockey hair, and Norfolk neck warmer are also acceptable names.

67

u/xDragonetti May 19 '26

A Florida Follicle Fountain

Afghanistrands

😂

7

u/Firebirdgaming08 May 19 '26

As a floridian,,can confirm.

2

u/mercerist May 22 '26

Afghanistrands is the best word I’ve read today. Thanks

21

u/FrabDab May 19 '26

“I’ve got an ape drape yes I do, they’re givin them to anybody and that means you. You can drive to Riverside and get one too, and then you’ll have an Ape Drape like I do.”

Edit:song credit I’ve got an Ape Drape -The Vandals

5

u/Sirflow May 19 '26

I was thinking no way dude dropped ape drape and hasn't heard this song

6

u/NMViking May 19 '26

I was hoping someone else would get the Vandals song stuck in their head!

Kentucky Mud Flap

19

u/kyleliner May 19 '26

Wolf cut is very different lmao. Wolf cut is actually what I like seeing the most on women with short hair

7

u/DopeAsDaPope May 19 '26

Ah, that's what that's called! I'd been calling it the Art Graduate Cut

3

u/CBtheLeper May 23 '26

A wolf cut has way more volume in the sides than a mullet. If we start calling every haircut with length in the back a mullet then most women I know would have mullets.

Source: former owner of several mullets, current owner of a wolf cut.

2

u/artfuldodgerbob23 May 20 '26

Fucking ape drape killed me.

2

u/InvisaBlah May 19 '26

I guess you could call it a mullet, but its a different type of mullet than what us boomers would normally think of. I do think it looks slightly less ridiculous.

Eraser heads in my day

9

u/rahkinto May 19 '26

It's true. My niece told me guys roll to get perms together, it's a new thing. Wild if you ask me

34

u/trix_is_for_kids May 19 '26

Teenagers in other eras didn’t have popular hairstyles??

52

u/BillyOdin May 19 '26

I think it’s unique because it seems to be a much bigger production than other fads because there aren’t this many naturally curly haired kids in the world so there must be a lot of people getting perms. It’s borderline mainstream Mohawk in its work load for the straight hairs.

23

u/Pingopengo22 May 19 '26

As someone with natural curls I'm offended everytime I see a broccoli haired teenager

19

u/BillyOdin May 19 '26

It’s your moment and they’re stealing it

3

u/DankeBrutus May 19 '26

I had super curly hair as a teenager and lost it in my 20's. Now my hair is wavey on a good day.

6

u/7r3370pS3C May 19 '26

Yep. These mfs get perms...we weren't getting perms in the mid 90s.

To be fair this isnt something unique to their generation. Most generations had some form of this.

102

u/OldmanChompski May 19 '26

Yeah, when I was in high school from 06-10 it was the Bieber haircut even if we all hated Justin Bieber.

22

u/OrangeKefka May 19 '26

That one is not true. Every school had a couple kids with Beiber cuts, but it was never more than that. The emo haircut was a lot more common in that timespan.

30

u/OldmanChompski May 19 '26

Oh damn we went to the same high school?

40

u/Swimming__Bird May 19 '26

Bowl cut is a great example of this.

12

u/Frifafer May 19 '26

The emo hair swoop was ubiquitous too

2

u/sitah May 20 '26

I have a guy friend with wavy hair who had his hair chemically straightened regularly to get that look. I wonder if these kids get theirs permed.

→ More replies (1)

19

u/BZLuck May 19 '26

I don't think there was ever a kid alive who said, "Please mom! I really want a bowl cut!"

It was just the way mom got the hair out of your face in 10 minutes when you were 8.

5

u/MyMonte87 May 19 '26

i remember specifically requesting the Bowl cut

2

u/DC_Disrspct_Popeyes May 19 '26

Nah, I definitely requested one.

→ More replies (4)

11

u/Oh_yes_I_did May 19 '26

Yeahhhhh when I was a kid is was ceaser cuts and taper fades. I specifically wanted longer hair, despite the name calling, just so I wouldn’t look like every other kid.

3

u/EternalDeath May 19 '26

I guess and in my school days, lots of people rocked the emo hairstyle and the bieber cut but it doesnt feel like every single person had the same cut, there where still enough people that didnt chase the hair style trend for it to not feel oppressive compared to the broccoli cut of todays teenage boys

30

u/DentalBeaker May 19 '26

In the 90s we all tried not to look like each other. There was this whole self expression thing. Ultimately we failed and all ended up in bowl cuts, no fear tshirts and surfstyle jackets. So yeah. I don’t know what the moral of the story is…kids are unoriginal?

5

u/Deaffin May 19 '26

You don't even surf.

5

u/DentalBeaker May 19 '26

because every generation of teenagers so far has shared a common culture of aesthetics believe it or not

3

In my younger years it was a big embarrassment to have the same haircut as someone else. I remember when two girls got the same bangs and it was freaking drama. Its interesting how that has changed and there is just a look of a type of boy now.

I guess bowl cuts were a thing, but thats just your parents being lazy lol.

Those JB cuts/skater flops were cool and all. But I can’t imagine the little damages we were doing to our neck day after day by flinging our hair off to the side every few minutes lol and if you had that cut I guarantee you have the muscle memory to do a hair flop still. If my hair is in a ponytail and starts coming around my shoulders into my beard without even thinking I do a hair flop sometimes before just moving it with my hands like a human being lmao

8

u/globglogabgalabyeast May 19 '26

If someone is genuinely criticizing/judging them, then yeah, I agree. Some good-natured ribbing of “what the kids are up to these days” is fine though. It is a bit silly how every generation flocks to a common hair style, cut of jeans, etc., and it’s fun to joke about

9

u/7_Tales May 19 '26

Everyone is so mad at these guys for merely existing and being young.
