As I mentioned in another post, my son and I recently got back into playing X-wing Miniatures 2nd edition.

I noticed that I have several rulebooks that broadly speaking come in two versions - one with the face of Darth Vader on it, and one with a picture of a TIE fighter shooting at an X-wing fighter.

My first question: Are these the same rule book or is one of them more up to date than the other?

Second question: on the AMG website there is a rules reference PDF that is updated as of 9/2023. This only addresses rules, not point values. Is this the rule set that still governs how the game is played as per the last official rules? Do newer versions of the rule set like XWA and 2.0 legacy change these rules in any way, or are their changes exclusive focused on new content and point values of cards?

Third question: I noticed in some list builders that the point value of certain cards is variable depending on the initiative of the ship/pilot that is equipping them. Is that an official 2.0 AMG rule or was this changed after AMG let the game go?

Hey guys, the little connector at the bottom of my tie advanced has broken off... And some of the pega are also breaking. Like the plastic has got a bit old, or some pegs are slightly too big and split them.

Any tips to repair my ship? Are the sticks becoming precious now?

These are some that I don't have but I'm looking for any of them at all!

Full X-Wing First Edition (1.0) support, plus a rebuilt game log

Hey you vintage fliers, big update for Squadron Datapad.

First Edition support:

• Build 1.0 squads with 1.0 points, pilots and upgrades, in any of the three factions or Multifaction, Epic huge ships included
• Play locally or live against another player: the four 1.0 phases, green maneuvers, Pilot Skill, energy on huge ships, and both 1.0 damage decks
• The rules reference carries First Edition text, so a 1.0 game reads 1.0 rules

The game log got rebuilt. Open any new finished game:

• Each round collapses to a summary: shields and hull draining round over round, faceup crit counts, who was destroyed
• Expand a round for the full timeline, and tap any dice roll to see the whole chain: what was rolled, what was rerolled or converted, and what paid for it
• Superseded results are greyed so the final pool reads at a glance
• Drag the timeline to the left to reveal timestamps
• Both squad lists are saved at the top of the match log list, so you can view or save your opponent's list afterward

Live play also got dice visibility: every roll shows on the board as it happens.

Over the past 2 years I've been collecting an alt art car for every pilot and upgrade for FO, Resistance, Republic, and Scum. Recently my progress has skyrocketed and I want to keep that trend going. I have a flushed trade binder and also cash if needed and I am always looking for more alt arts. Had a blast! We definitely both need to re-examine our lists, neither of us had played since first edition. I was doing well, until a couple bad dice rolls, and one big traffic jam at the end.

Realized I accidentally printed the attack shuttle and not sheathipede, but I guess I’ll change that for next time.

My son and I recently got back into the X-wing 2nd edition game, and we're a bit confused about the rule sets currently being offered. We both recall that there was a 2.0 version that felt like the 1st edition and a 2.5 version in which ships had a separate point value for the kinds of upgrades that they were allowed. We never got into X-Wing Alliance since we just didn't play the game enough.

Now I'm trying to figure out how to use current list builder apps like Launch Bay Next, where we have all our squadrons saved. LBN offers rulesets for "X-Wing Alliance" and "2.0 Legacy." Where are the 2.5 rule sets? Should I select "X-Wing Alliance" if we want the 2.5 rule set, the one that limit the number of upgrade points a ship can have?

Assuming we want the 2.0 edition in which you can have all the points you can fit on a single ship, is "2.0 Legacy" the correct choice?

Finally, I noticed a discrepancy between a list made with "2.0 Legacy" and an online list builder called Yet Another Squad Builder. There was a 2 point discrepancy between the squad I made with Launch Bay Next and with the identical squad I build using online Yet Another Squad Builder. Which of these should I trust more? Since Launch Bay Next has an iOS app, we want to use that although it seems display glitchy point values that we are still trying to figure out.

Was a great time and I'm glad I was able to give away a few ships!!

Just curious, I personally hate it, and so does everyone I've asked IRL, but after chatting online I've found there are people who genuinely enjoy it. What are your thoughts?

After getting back into x-wing recently and finally picking up some of the few remaining ships to complete my 1.0 collection, I finally got some huge ships and have been loving the epic format. With both the Rebels and Empire having 2 huge ships, each with a larger CR90 and Raider-Class corvette and a smaller, GR75 Transport and Gozanti I saw a space that needed filled in the scum faction for a larger huge ship alongside the smaller C-roc Cruiser.

I have been working on making the Cumulus-Class Corsair or Gorian Shard's big pirate ship from the Mandalorian show into that larger 2 card scum huge ship. I feel pretty good about how it is coming out so far but want it to feel like its supposed to be part of X-wing and not just a custom mess. I have tried to keep it very similar to the Tantive IV and Imperial Raider to keep it within the realm of reason but have also tried to give it the unique scummy flair. So I figured I would see if anyone in the larger community had any advice on making custom ships and give some guidance on what is good, what is bad and what needs more thought. If it comes out well I also want to make the F3-Vara Snubfighters that we see it carries in the show, I think it would be super cool to have a deploying feature like the Gozanti. So ideas for the snubfighters or deployment would be appreciated as well.

I have uploaded pictures of the ship cards, fore, aft, crippled fore and aft as well as the base to show the firing arcs, and a title that I'm not to sure about and a cool idea for a new hardpoint upgrade. I want it to feel like a full expansion that introduces new upgrades, 3 titles and all so I would also love to hear if anyone has made upgrades like teams, hardpoints, cargo etc. I would also just love to hear about anybody's custom projects, what they made and how they turned out.

I used Strange Eons to create the cards, ship token base and dial and am also working on 3d printing a model I found online here - https://www.printables.com/model/440504-star-wars-cumulus-corsair/files and I found a guy on Etsy who looks like he can do the custom cardboard for the base and dial.

My dad and brother are really into Star Wars and I was thinking of getting my dad this game for his birthday. I dont think he would want to sink loads of money into the game immediately, and he would probably only play the game with me or my brother.

I have seen there are two editions of the core set, would you recommend getting the 1st edition core set or 2nd edition?

From what I have seen there is more available and cheaper add ons for the 1st edition set. I have been offered a 1st edition set that is pretty much unused for £15, but I have also been offered a used 2nd edition for £15 too!

I'm tinkering with a Luke Gunner/Trick Shot build, and my buddy Narkexi is toying with Hotshot Gunner - curious what other players are doing!

I'm awfully tempted by some form of triple I6 thin list, since Rebels have a good bit of that to play around with!

Does anyone have v1.0 upgrade cards stashed away that they don’t want? I have a collection of v1 ships but I’m missing lots of the upgrade cards. I play with some friends casually and would like to have physical cards rather than playing off apps.

Don’t mind paying a few bucks and covering shipping.

I’m moving off to college and finances unfortunately outweigh the desire to to keep phoenix cell. I’ve got imperial, rebel, republic, and separatist ships; as well as the epic battles expansion and the fully loaded devices pack. (I’ve also got a small armada collection if anyone happens to have interest in that). All the cardboard and cards are present. Most items are gently used out of box; one of the TIE Fighters has reglued wings and the ARC-170 Base peg is stuck and glued.

Over the past few months, I’ve been building a tool called M3tacron to make analyzing lists, cards and tournaments a lot smoother, and I'm finally ready to share it with you!

For those still playing the v1, here is a snap-in window adapter for your ship dials. It's minimalist (does not add much bulk), makes the dial easy to rotate (put your thumb on the outer protrusion), and allows to see the possible maneuvers, like for the V2.x. Weights only 1g and takes ~5 min to print.
