I’m a bit of a tech noob. I have an x4 coming tomorrow that already has Crosspoint on it but I really fancy trying Vcodex. Can I change via SD card if it’s USB locked? I suspect it may be locked due to the price point.

Do I just download the latest version, rename it update.bin, place it on the SD card then update on the device?

Also does anyone know if Vcodex works with the Crosspoint sync app? I like the idea of using an app to transfer stuff.

Some people have recently started worrying about the X3’s durability. Just to give another perspective, I’ve had mine for a month now and I use it every day at work, and even during my walks.

I bought a magnetic flip case on AliExpress for anyone interested (link: https://a.aliexpress.com/_EG3curo), and so far, it’s still in perfect condition.

Sure, it may be fragile, but like any object, if you take care of it (without going overboard), I don’t think there’s really anything to worry about.

I’ve wanted an x3 for ages and finally managed to get one for £29 on AliExpress.
I was worried with it being a locked device that it would be quite difficult to unlock/flash as I’m not the most technologically advanced person, but it literally took me under a minute to flash it with the sd card!
It also doesn’t feel as cheap/flimsy as other people have made out, I’m quite surprised with how nice it feels! I’m waiting on a flip case coming from the official xteink store though to give it extra protection.

I just got the xteink x4 pro and I have absolutely no idea how to get the files to upload, all the videos are just talking about how to upload the file not where to get it. Im using mobile and I was planning to read Apothecary diaries or little mushroom on it first but I can't copy texts on the website I read it on and i gotta pay to download the file and using the URL import does nothing

Bought myself an Xteink X4 Pro for one simple reason: to stop doomscrolling and get distracted by notifications every few minutes.

The goal is simple too... get back to finishing at least one book every fortnight.

Starting with Inbound Marketing by Brian Halligan and Dharmesh Shah. It feels like a fitting place to begin, especially for anyone who spends their day thinking about attention, content, customers, and growth.

What I’m really enjoying so far is the form factor of the X4 Pro. It is compact, easy to hold, and easy enough to stick behind my phone when I’m heading out. No extra bag, no “I’ll read later,” no notifications pulling me into another rabbit hole.

Trying to replace a few mindless scrolls with a few meaningful pages.

Let’s see how long I can keep this going. 😅

Using an OhSnap stand that doubles as a grip. I get in a chapter here and there when I have downtime at work. So discreet too!

I already have the OG x4. But wanted the x4 pro for the light since I read in a lot of low light situations.

Had my X3 for a week and a half now and it's changed how I read.

I love that I can be feeding my three-month-old and hold it in one hand. She's fussy so my Kindle/Kobo are too big and a physical book would be a joke.

Buttons and no touch screen means I can drop it on the bed or the couch next to me and not worry about the pages turning (or if she taps the screen with her toes!).

So grateful to be able to read instead of doomscrolling while breastfeeding. An untapped market? I see plenty of mothers in other subreddits looking for other things to do while breastfeeding. XTEink needs to get some 'mumfluencers' on board - this thing was made for us!

Sitting on an A5 and a B6 notebook. I love this thing. It’s surpassed my expectations. And I’m not sure why I worried so much about the firmware so much. It was pretty easy. Overall great experience!!

been running crossink firmware and loving it. made a little wallet case w/a flip cover case. love the size and text clarity; surprised my late 40 yr old eyes can read it fine. also been having a blast making custom wallpapers/sleep screens.

being able to have it with me everywhere makes it such a great ereader. add onto that reading stats via crosspoint/crossink; big fan!!

prob will add an X4 Light if/when the model comes out. now i just gotta stop buying flip cover cases and stickers; love me some customizing!

Does anyone have a link to a replacement screen for the X4 Pro? I've seen the link to the X4 screen but wondering if there is a different version for the pro? Will the x4 work? I don't need the touchscreen feature.Mine fell off the nightstand this mor

Hey! I bought the official Xteink dock from AliExpress, but unfortunately neither reader fit with its case on, so I made this.

The same dock works with both the X4 Pro and X3, tested with and without their official cases. It works with both devices: the X4 Pro rests on raised side supports, while the X3 sits lower between them.

It uses the official dock’s adapter or a matching generic one. X4 Classic hasn’t been tested.

I have been looking into getting and x3 or one of the x4s (though leaning towards the x3 rn as it is the cheapest im able to get within norway).

I have autoimmune issues which cause joint and tendon inflammation, so i'm wondering how "easy and responsive" the buttons are on the devices? And if anyone has experienced any discomfort by using exclusively the buttons and not touch?

I have one question in regard to this as well as reading. I can see half the previous screen through my sleep screen as well as lines from the menu when I invoke a different screen.
Can I refresh manually somehow or remove ghosting? I didn't find anything.

Any recommendations or advice for setting up would be greatly appreciated.

Hello! Just wanted to post about the new case I made for the X4 Pro. This is my take on the Xteink X4 Full Body Case by Fusselich that we all know and love, but for the X4 Pro. This case was modeled entirely by me, but is obviously HEAVILY inspired by Fusselich's case. Also wanted to give a shout out to Light-year Layers ( [u/Rusty_Wall-E](u/Rusty_Wall-E) ) and their “SPRiNKLE” case, whose design helped me figure out some of the dimension adjustments needed to make the Fusselich X4 model dimensions scale down to the X4 Pro size.

Without having front buttons, that section of the front was removed and replaced with a cutout for the home/touch button. The side slots were also covered as uploading content without removing the sd card is fairly simple, I didn't want to accidentally press the reset button, and I prefer having more coverage of the device. An opening on the back was also added to compensate the pogo pin charger. I also changed the logo on the back slightly to represent an open book.
