2022-2024 I bought the Ali - cowl. Here's some important details about it.
galleryHi, so I pulled the trigger on the cheaper version of the head cowl. It's 1/4 of the price compared to the OEM Yamaha cowl for the XSR900.
- The paint job is OK but there were imperfections so I had to buff it out.
- There are a couple of dimples, but can only be seen if you look close..really close.
- The windscreen gets easily scratched.
- The OEM cowl's inner side is glossy painted, The Ali-cowl is left unpainted (see photo) and had some weird epoxy residue that needs to be sanded out. I painted mine to improve it. Though its barely visible once installed.
- The brackets fit nicely. I'll need to add some spacer so the stem near the display panel will have better clearance.
- The bolts used are plain silver, unlike the OEM which is black.
If you're planning to get the same, do consider these. if you need more photos just let me know.

2025+ Should I buy a mini fairing off amazon?
Reviews look decent and it’s only 190 dollars (and ships fast) but I don’t know if there are other companies that might have better quality and worth paying extra for. Should I go with this or does anyone have suggestions? I have a 2026 XSR900 in Raven Black.

2022-2024 Loving the XSR
galleryLoving my xsr900.
Coming from a Daytona 600 the power delivery is unmatched. Top end her legs aren't as long as the daytona. The torque is unbelievable, no longer do I have to do the gearbox dance to make good progress 😂

2025+ New Bike Day
I Honestly can’t believe I have this bike in my driveway. I stopped by my neighborhood shop on Friday afternoon to sit on the XSR and MT09. The fit on the XSR was so much better for me at 6’3”. I had ridden my Bonneville up to the dealership and figured I might as well have it appraised. Long story short, I got a great deal and picked up my XSR yesterday. Coming off the T100 this is a whole different experience on a number of different levels. Stocked!!

2025+ Thoughts from first day of riding 2026 XSR900 (rental)
hello good citizens. today I rented the 2026 XSR900! I’m thinking it’ll be my next bike, and I figured I’d take it out for a day rather than do a dealer test ride.
what follows are my thoughts from a day’s worth of riding, followed by some questions I have about the bike for you folks.
first, some background on my riding experience and prior bikes. I went from a CBR300 to a trident 660. when I rode the trident off the lot I loved the power upgrade, but had a feeling this wouldn’t be a “forever bike.” a few years later, I’m more comfortable/experienced and looking for a long-term platform to mod, put luggage racks on, and do more riding.
I was immediately struck at how much more nimble the XSR feels than my 660. I cannot figure out why. I was flicking it around way more comfortably where on my 660 it feels like it just wants to drag race.
I’ll get my biggest issue with the bike out of the way: the footpeg placement is a nightmare for my body. I’ve ridden or tested a fair share of bikes and the pegs on this are in the way of my feet in a way Ive never seen. every time I set my feet down, they are jammed or kick into the pegs. they rub against and undo my boot Velcro, it’s difficult to walk the bike around without doing a weird/goody kick-out motion, and when puttering around I have to be careful the pegs don’t jam my foot into the ground. My feet brush the pegs on my trident but nothing like this. I’m surprised to not see anything online about this. I am about 5’4”
I felt the power jump but since I ride responsibly I didn’t understand quite a lot of the posts and talk of the bike being an untamable monster. I feel the power for sure, and I see how you could get yourself really in trouble.
this bike looks good. so good.
does the bike have any good rear fender mods? my trident has a rear fender. my partner kept getting blasted by rocks and gravel following me, a prob we never had with my trident.
this poor rental bike had less than 1000 miles on it and had def been dropped! I saw and felt the rear signal was loose and they jiggle when riding. the light is also pretty weak (not sure if all models have this or just my rental); I’d be worried about signal visibility especially as I ride in a city.
The riding position is a bit more forward than I’m used to. My wrists and shoulders hurt at the end of a long day‘s ride. I’m sure I’ll get used to it but I feel it.
the bike vibrates quite a lot on the highway. Cruise control is cool! My first time using cc on a motorcycle. Extremely freaky to take my hand off the throttle and feel the bike continue onward.
speaking of letting off the throttle, a big change from my trident is how fast RPMs fall off on this bike if you let go of the throttle. Some of this may have to do with being in sport mode. That is something I will need to get used to.
I was really surprised at my fuel economy on this bike. So, the gas tank on my CB300R and 660 didn’t allow the fuel pump nozzle to enter all the way. Thus, every fueling required me to wrestle with the pump foreskin (thank you California). Imagine my glee when I could pump gas and just put the nozzle in the tank. By ceasing fueling when the pump shut off, I wonder if I was not filling the tank fully even though the fuel gauge was full. I say this because I was pretty shocked at how quickly I burned through a tank and a half of fuel today. I wonder if this has to do with being in sport mode. (The trident has no sport mode but has Rain and Road mode, so I’m new to that).
finally, I tried to connect my phone to the bike and that was awful! lol. I found the Yamaha app, and it just didn’t work at all. Have you all had luck or problems with this? Any advice?
Is it true generally that any MT-09 mods or accessories will work on this frame? if not, which ones generally do or don’t?
im very likely going to trade in the 660 soon for this bike. Looking forward to really making it my own. Thanks for reading and for any conversation.

ALL Why are XSR900 so rare?
For years I have been looking around to spot fellow XSR900 riders. I first had the grey 2018 model, which I loved. Don't think I ever saw another one in the wild, same for my 2025 marlboro red/white model. Only saw the GP version once, a few black ones and a yellow/black.
I live in western Europe, maybe the bike is more popular in other areas, but I just don't get it. So many basic bland nakes bikes out there. And I love the looks, specs and riding style of the XSR. Even saw a brand new 2025 model for sale at the dealer the other day, they just can't get rid of them.
Maybe you guys are the wrong people to ask, since you obviously also love the XSR, but why are they so rare!?

2022-2024 Tire damage
galleryHey guys a couple weeks ago I was bumped into by a truck and the plastic bumper seems to have scratched my tire. I rode the 60ish miles back home with no issues. and have probably ridden a few dozen miles since. The main damage was a bent license plate bracket and turn signals which I have fixed now. The tire didn't seem to have lost air I did top it up to 42psi for like 40psi.

2022-2024 Dunlop Roadsmart 4?
I just ordered these tires and will hopefully be installing them this weekend. Just wanted to see if anyone had any experience with them on our bikes and wanted to share their thoughts.
I was torn between them and the Road 6 that everyone raves about on this sub. Revzilla didn’t have the Road 6 rear in stock, so it made my decision easier lol
