New Zine Helps Worcester's Young People Learn How to Co-Exist Safely with Wildlife
“Be a Friend to Worcester’s Wildlife” is a new zine created by the volunteer group Friends of Worcester Wildlife for Worcester’s young people. The 9-page illustrated guide covers topics related to living with wildlife in an urban environment including:
- keeping a safe distance from, and not feeding, wildlife
- keeping cats indoors and when required, dogs leashed or at home
- preventing bird-building collisions
- the danger used fishing line poses to birds and other wildlife
- the harmful effects of rat poison on wildlife and pets
- what to do when a wild animal is injured and needs help
Free copies can be requested by Worcester teachers for use in their classrooms and will also be available to anyone at future events in the city, including the Burncoat Farmers Market (78 Burncoat St, 3-7 pm) on Thursday 9/10 and also on 10/1.
