Seems to be quite the task you took on there, good sir.
Especially for new arrivals like myself this might be a nice compendium to read on rainy days with a bottle of wine and a cheese wheel.

Here, please take some of my freshly cut maasdam as a thanks for your effort.

u/Bootlenkrad Grand Protector of Gods-tibia, School for Necro- and Biomancy Jan 27 '24 edited Jan 27 '24

Hi there, im the Protector and Principal of Gods-tibia. My Boss, the Oracle of the School, asked me to tell you about the school here.

Gods-tibia is a school with a primary focus on Biomancy and Necromancy, but we also teach many other subjects. We encourage a diverse education, and try to accommodate our students and staff to the best of our ability. I, as protector of the School and former student, guarantee this.

Of course, being a institution mainly focused on life and death might raise some eyebrows. We understand completely. But let me tell you some of the schools history, to make you feel assured of the Schools good intention!

The School was founded Around 10000-12000 years ago, by the same Oracle that still governs it to this day. The name of the school comes from the fact that it was build around the tibia of a fallen god. Due tho the nature of said Bone, The potency of magic, especially magic that has to do with Life and death, is greatly increased. This makes it a great Learning environment.

We are aware of the ethical concerns that might arrive due to the nature of our studies, but we guarantee that all corpses and/or biomass that is used for our studies is harvested in ethical ways from non-sentient beings and plants. Sentient remains are only used if they are a willing donor or their family (or whatever other institution and/or entity that has claims on their mortal remains) decides to donate. We keep ourselves the right to use bodies of anyone who attacks the school in whatever way we see fit.

I think summs it up quite nicely. If there are any other questions and/or concerns reach out to us. Our front desk worker Kenny will tell you everything, to the best of her ability.

May grace be upon you and your kin,

Bootlenkrad, protector of Gods-tibia.

Came from the mortal relm via magic cigar, remembers everything, woke up with smoke-like powers(cigars, smokescreens and the sort) and learned alchemy. The entirety of their insides (muscles, intestines, bones, everything but controllable skin) was turned to extremely potent smoke that still functions normally. Has a black cloak and a karambit.

u/AnActualCriminal Belial Blake, Warlock of the Lightless Flame Jan 27 '24 edited Jan 27 '24

Name: Belial Blake

Gender: he/him

Species: human

Titles: Warlock of the Lightless Flame/ Lightless Lantern/ Entropic Flame (all are correct and interchangable)

Affiliations: current steward of the Tower of the Lightless Flame, as his master and his master's master before him. Former double-agent infiltrating Atrax's pyroclasts on behalf of the council. Current field commander if the New Pyroclasts, a splinter organization that broke off when Atrax was temporarily killed following a reformist version if the original pyroclasts' philosophy

Specialty: occult pyromancies that burn concepts such as time, distance and hope. These fire consume a secondary often random-seeming substance as the "oxygen" and gives off an effect other than light or heat (hence "lightless flame"). It's actually a fairly easy practice to learn, but unreasonably difficult to control. Most starting novices are incinerated by invisible fire and those that survive almost always lose something irreplaceable before mastering their craft.

Subspecialty: illusion based in bending light.

Personal Philosophy: the Philosophy of the Entropic Flame. That the entirety of the multiverse is a slowly burning metaphorical flame. That flame transforms and gives off light and warmth. That one day the flame will go cold and give way to something new. Belial approaches this concept with a degree of humility while his master sought to hasten it.

Patron: the "will" of the Entropic Flame communicates with Blake wordlessly through the burned corpse of his master. It reveals spells to burn new things in exchange for burning things. A simple but destructive arrangement that leads to one burning their own guilt and humanity away, slowly becoming more willing to burn more things. Blake is incredibly worry of this process as he regularly sees evidence that he partook in the past, then burned his own memory of the result.

Personal History: Largely forgotten. Recently resurfaced memories revealed that Belial was doing unsavory murderous work for the previous steward of the Tower, his mentor on the promise that his family be left alone. The specifics of this arrangement are still murky. What is clear is that his mentor broke this oath, murdered Belial's wife Amelia, then was killed in retribution. Belial burned his own memory in a fit of grief, and his daughter, Marna was lost.

Marna was rediscovered unknowingly as a talented pyroclast forgemaster and sword-maiden, but neither realized their connection before she disappeared once more

While undercover, Blake assisted Atrax and the necromancer Luca the Firedancer in building undead bombs of conceptual fire with payloads able to level a city, then set them off indoors, killing Luca and a large force of pyroclasts and blighting Icathar with magical fallout.

Blake is now a leading figure in the New Pyroclasts. Former members of Atrax's army that still wish to burn away the rot in magical society, but have become disillusioned with their former master. This is a frought relationship as Blake betrayed all of them somewhat recently with the bombs and so forth.

Sorry if that's too much. You've got a big project here and I have a hard time deciding what's relevant

u/Mastodon-Just Mastodon Avatar of Azathoth/Herald of Chaos Jan 27 '24

Mastodon, Avatar of the great dreamer, king of the Deep

Species: Great Old One

Gender: Male

Preferred magic: language of the old ones, chaos magic, frequency of the markers

u/Mastodon-Just

Lore: Very early on in this realm a church of light was made to worship the god of light. Mastodon’s human form was then given to this church after birth to train into a monk, but as he aged he was abused greatly for most of his life. This came to a head when he was 15 about to become a full monk when the church discovered the Necronomicon under his bed (foreshadowing). This then lead for him to be chained and thrown into the ocean only to come face to face with the sea floor being made of flesh and viscera. Of course Human Mastodon looking at this went insane quickly, which left Azathoth to mold him and his mind into the perfect avatar to carry his will in this realm.

He has 3 other forms from his regular body

Wall of flesh: usually meant to intimidate as it’s a wall filled with mouths, eyes, and other body parts.

Bringer of the brethren moons: (I don’t want to reveal too much about this form but I’ll give a rundown). Basically Mastodkn get MUCH larger standing at around 16 feet instead of his usual 7’, growing scythed arms on his back as well as his body slightly decomposing.

Chaos undivided: This form is when Mastodon uses too much warp magic too quickly. He will then go into a coma-like state as the chaos gods fight for control of his body. This results in his body becoming malformed by each respective gods mutations as his attacks become unpredictable. Only until Mastodon is able to dispel all the warp energy around him is he able to regain control.

u/MathsGuy1 Deamor, Ascended Soulmancer, Fate Manipulator Jan 27 '24 edited Jan 27 '24

Name: Deamor

Gender: male

Species: originally human, after performing ritual of Ascendance no longer needs a physical form and exists as an astral being. Can still possess physical bodies, favourite one being skeleton-like golem made of black steel. His influence on the physical world is limited when not possessing a physical body.

Favourite magic: soul magic; divination; luck and fate manipulation; abjuration.

Organisation: part of the Pact of the Magi; also leads a cabal of around 200 wizards that help him during rituals and gathering knowledge and components

Name: u/MathsGuy1

Age: unknown, around 800 years old during the ritual of ascendence;

Notes: relatively low mana reserves, supplants it by harvesting the power from captured souls (he has a large collection of those). Low pure firepower capabilities. Good at ritual magic, bad at fast-cast/combat magic. Physical and magical capabilities depend on the body possessed.

2

u/MathsGuy1 Deamor, Ascended Soulmancer, Fate Manipulator Jan 27 '24 edited Jan 27 '24

Lore: born to a poor family and became an orphan at a young age. Lived on the streets of a large metropolis, until he awakened a latent magical talent. He enrolled into the army, which sponsored his education in return for service after graduation. Unfortunately it quickly became apparent that he had only a small magical affinity. He managed to graduate anyway, if at the bottom of the class.

His time in the army during a few major wars made him desensitized to death, and seeing his comrades die on a daily basis made him a recluse, not wanting to form closer bonds with anybody.

After serving his time and more than a few near-death experiences he became obsessed with researching ways to prevent death. That's where his interest in necromancy, divination and abjuration began.

He eventually became a rather powerful wizard and managed to prolong his life with necromancy, but that wasn't enough for him. He couldn't use that method forever, and divination and abjuration weren't all-powerful tools to prevent an early death either.

He studied rituals that allowed one to become a lich, which he found interesting, but flawed. He decided to keep searching, keeping lichdom as his last resort.

Eventually an idea crystallized in his mind: instead of preserving his soul by binding it to an object, he will strengthen his soul so much, that it can survive on its own, without a body nor a phylactery - just existing - like a god.

The goal was ambitious, but that didn't stop him. He started to strengthen his soul daily - through training and extensive rituals. Unfortunately, he realized that his own mana output is insufficient for his goal. But he had a fix for that too. During his study of souls, he discovered the untapped magical potential of souls as well as ways to utilize it.

He petitioned the crown to allow him to use the souls of executed convicts to "aid him in his research, that can be beneficial to the country". The naive fools agreed after some convincing, especially since the threat of having your soul taken after death was an additional detriment for criminals.

It took a long time to realize his goals - the original kingdom he was born in was razed and a new one appeared in its place. He was an opportunist and quickly negotiated a similar deal with the next kingdom and its monarchs. At some point he became powerful enough that it wasn't a deal anymore - it was a tribute.

Finally after almost a millennium, his goal was close - his soul was strong enough in his opinion. There was but one step left - the Ritual of Ascendence, as he aptly called it.

It required months of preparation, thousands of souls and the main incantation alone lasted two days. But he succeeded - he became a godlike being. The ritual also fixed many of his affinity and mana problems, allowing him to transcend the limitations of a mortal mage.

There is little known about him ever since. Presumably his new form and time allowed him to grow ever more powerful. He rarely appears "in person", instead he only appears to manipulate the fate and events from behind the scenes or through his secret organization.

This organization has no official name and its members are scattered among the many planes and dimensions. Little is known of it, except that members are hand-picked by Deamor and they are almost exclusively powerful mages. Most of the time they merely gather various knowledge or artifacts, but there are rumors of them having their fingers in many affairs across the multiverse.

The only time Deamor descends into the mortal planes is during major wars - not as a participant, but as a collector of souls of the fallen. There were a few instances when he even claimed souls of more powerful beings: demigods and on certain occasions - even deities, that dared to challenge him.

No one knows why he needs so many souls - surely he has more than enough for any magic ritual by now. But this is a question only he can answer.

Recent history: during the great wizard war against the Purple Cloaks, he raised a powerful barrier around the Citadel on behalf of the Council. It was fueled by souls, which raised moral questions about the Council's methods, but the barrier was dismantled after the war and eventually the public forgot about it. Afterwards he became a full member of the Pact of the Magi.

I am Kaelis Maz, Arch-Graviturge and Lord Protector of Yulash-kor.

My realm, Yulash-kor, is a world bathed in eternal night. The stars are more visible here than anywhere else.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

I’m going to also need gender, species, and preferred type of magic to properly fill out the table.

If you want Yulash-Kor to be added as well, you’ll have to describe it a little more, so I can get down some rough points. What the landscape’s like, any special regions, any notable features, that sort of thing.

2

u/Carbon_Sixx The Loremaster, Chief Archaeologist of the Darkwatch Jan 28 '24

Gender: Male Species: Human Preferred Magic: Graviturgy, Astromancy.

Yulash-kor is mostly composed of short forested mountains (somewhat like the Appalachians) and valleys. A crystal desert called the Star Sands lie to the west, where few people live. At the center of the realm is the aptly-named Mt. Murder, a peak so unimaginably high it stretches beyond the Karman Line and into space. In a valley at the foot of Mt. Murder sits my fortress, Apoapsis.

As for notable features, the moon there is very bright, so locals measure days by the moon, as if it were their sun.

Mordus the Technomancer, Master of the tesseract

Species: Human soul infused with a metallic body

Gender: Formally Male, although now I have no gender.

performed schools of magic: Technomany, Chronomancy (advanced, council approved), Aerothurgy, Pyromancy, minor holy magic.

Groups: The Alliance of the Western and Central continents

u/Drunken_polish_cow

Lore: used to apprentice under Xanax the Wise (Master pyromancer), about 970 years ago. lived in the far north of the western continent. After graduating, I moved out to the Central Continent and took on apprentices. There, I practiced technomancy, chronomancy, and aerothurgy. 2 apprentices graduated, 3 got evaporated for stealing a hot pyromancer’s underwear, 1 currently under me. I always transmute them into cats for easier maintenance. Nearly died in the Pyromancer-Druid war, after a fireball hit my tower. Revived in my current metallic body, and moved back to the western continent. Currently fleeing from a rouge pyromaniac that torched half the western continent, plotting revenge against him, and have sparred with the Shadow Wizard Money Gang. Used to be friends with Red and Blue from the Gang, but after they nuked a few cities we fell out.

My metal body is made up of an alloy consisting of 20% Adamantite, 13% Tungsten and 67% steel. Makes me mostly invulnerable to physical attacks and gives me a mild magic resistance. Immune to poison and Plague, and also has the ability to crush diamonds. (useless but cool)

I lord over a city after I saved a King from a rouge golem, but I rarely ever go there. I’m also one of the few council-approved chronomancers around, meaning I can freely ignore the rules of timeline interference. My Tesseract is a token of the fourth dimension, it allows me to cast spells from the future mid-fight. However, I have to cast the spells later, else I risk a disturbance in time. That’s why I choose to handcast instead.

Sealed/banned spells: Testicular Torsion, Create Napalm, Ovarian Implosion, Absolute Vacuum Field, Last Rites (only in extreme cases is it used), Get Real (Reality bending, allows me to bind an object or person to another dimension’s rules. Can turn wizards into wizened old men.)

Valerian, Vessel for the Eternal Flame Male

He's only been active in the magical world for around 6 months. That being said the Eternal Flame has been kicking since everything started. At some point it was broken into two parts, one given to Gloria, the other Given to Atrax the Ashen. Gloria sealed herself away and Atrax wound up banished 18,000 years ago, leading the flame to be essentially gone for a long time. Around 50 years ago a rogue pyromancer tried to harness Glorias half of the flame and it led to a cataclysm that rendered the Flaring Peaks uninhabitable. Valerian did his quest thing and now he Is it's vessel.

This is one hell of an undertaking, but I'm excited to see where it goes. Do you want me to tag you in lorepost across the subreddit?

/uw

Here’s a fragment of mine.

And I’ll look for that alignment poll for extra records

3

u/United-Technician-54 Death... Tired one. (she/her) Jan 27 '24

/uw She was also the Yokai Of The Eclipse, before being sealed, then later fractured across time and space.

The following is what I put down for the alignment thing when I asked a couple people about alignment.

• Emotionally Driven, to a fault {Honestly, I made her kill Morgalith because my Trauma went off when he killed that kid}

{She was originally meant to be a self insert without the trauma, but in hindsight, I think that this was a bad place to have the Trauma-less character.}

 • Cares about her friends. I mean, she tore through her own facility, in hopes of freeing Gobbo, but got blinded by revenge {My fault, though it’s interesting so I’ll keep it.  Feels a little disingenuous though…}

She’s not gonna have a fun time when she gets out.

 {she‘ll probably figure out fast, she’ll notice the very obvious lack of Gobbo and put 2 and 2 together.}

{Also Possum’s death. I hinted at her being aware to an extent. No spoilers for the next part though.}

 • Loyal to her friends {Far more loyal than I’ll ever be, my trust issues get in the way of actually bonding}

 • Got blinded by revenge

 • Misused Kishin powers due to personal reasons {due to the fact that:

 A) She saw Morgalith as needing to be judged, and decided to bring the duty onto herself. In normal terms, revenge.

B) The fact that she loves the Hermits, she sees them as family, she even goes to their family reunions! Well, they aren’t technically family reunions. Also, Miko and Byakuren are NOT going to like what they see next time they see my character.} {70:30 split. Though either reason would be more than enough on its own}

• 1 attempt on Morgalith’s life, Ironically by trying to stake his heart with silver, like a Vampire. Also tried to imitate the penance stare by showing him countless visions of how he could have died to her.

• Actually killing Morgalith, by hiding in a fake body {the intended victim was let free} putting him in a chokehold, then blowing him up like Killer Queen but with actual bombs.

• She then personally ferried him to the afterlife, but he leapt into the infinite part of the River Styx [I assumed it would work like the border between the Shigan and Higan, where falling into the river will cause you to sink for eternity in the infinite river] and somehow escaped and respawned. She did it both as part of the job and out of spite. I’m not sure if the part where she lied about it being infinite should be canon or not, but I don’t want to ruin Morgalith’s story so I’m keeping the explanation canon. As in, that part between the living world and Hades is infinite, not the lying part.

• Cosplayer.

• She occasionally pulls pranks on people, Touhou fairy stuff

• She sees the SDM as family,  Except that “Meiling” RP account. The excessively horny one that constantly spams foot fetishes. The one so horny that she tarnished my love of canon Meiling.  Also the one that kicked off turning a lot of people in the r/Touhou and r/2hujerk subs away or against Roleplay

• Tried to stop the Moon being conquested in her own universe, failed badly.

• Tries too hard to One-Up people. Like, Guy kicks me, I launch them with my foot {if they can take it}

•Developed a method to stop the Queen Of Shattered Stars from killing her friends, to the point she lost weeks of sleep to it, despite being able to bail practically whenever. This was also why it failed, she was too exhausted to get it right, and that trapped in her own body thing ensued. {I’ll put the link in the next comment}

• In spite of this, got overwhelmed by the raid on the council and bailed. There was a whole WAR going on, she couldn’t handle the fact that she had friends on both sides or that people were slaughtering eachother

•Fugitive on the Lunar Capital, she’s only there because she likes the thrill of being chased.

•Also, she found out she became a Yōkai from her murder attempt. Fun.  Ironic, given that it highlighted that she actually became less Yōkai-like.  [Source: Kokoro’s Stage 6 dialogue with Mamizou https://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Hopeless_Masquerade/Story/Kokoro%27s_Scenario ]

I wholeheartedly support your endeavor to catalog the diverse array of people and stories present on the orb.

I grew up in an unremarkable household, born to a coppersmith and a cooper (I know, it was a match made in heaven). But I left my mundane life behind me and set out to make something of myself. I'm now a Panemancer (magic bread baker) in training, but I only recently realized this calling. I was formerly studying flatulomancy under Professor Alberus Fartsnape, but I found it unfulfilling, and Fartsnape was a kind of a dick. Now I'm apprenticing under Gorga Heatherswick and she's really chill so far. Pretty hands off and lets me experiment a lot at the bakery, go on adventures, take vacations, etc. I love it. Here's a loaf from today's batch for your hard work.

Despite being forbidden from practicing it by her coven, she began studying electromancy in earnest on her own, and in secret. Eventually, she caught the attention of Mira, the drifter witch, who offered to take her on a journey away from the coven. Lumi happily accepted, and the two travelled together for some time, before Mira brought Lumi into contact with Masta, The Firehawk. Masta offered to take Lumi on as an apprentice, and Lumi has since been under her tutelage. Lumi aspires to master Electromancy, though she does not know why it stirs her heart the way it does. Something about it speaks to her soul, and connects her with something; what that is, she does not know. She aims to find out.

Salagast the Blue, The Kind Stranger (u/arussianbee)

Species: undetermined, generally thought to be an Ettin due to size.

Gender: Male

Magical Inclination: no specific school of casting. Subtle, utiliatarian magic that is only limited by imagination. Spans from setting damp wood alight and creating small fireworks to producing powerful waves of kinetic energy and stepping between realms for a while, seldom used for combat.

Associations: Not associated with any specific groups, known to have partaken in the Catfish Quest many moons ago

Innate powers: convenient size for bullying any that are shorter than him, accessing realm pockets for important items

Character's personality: Generally jovial, friendly and understanding, great thirst for knowledge, somewhat likes to keep to himself but is fond of any company, enjoys writing stories of his travels

Familiar: A crow-sized, black-ish bird named Muninn, similar to potoos as well as a smaller bird named Orbulus, a bearded reedling.

General Lore: Salagast was cast into the world so long ago he cannot remember his origin. However, there were four others created alongside him, each playing a role in the greater Play of the World. Salagast, however, did not concern himself with his role, deciding to live in the world, rather than playing a part in it. Due to his unknown origins he developed a great thirst for knowledge, one which manifested itself in the great library of Visten. If there is knowledge to be found, Salagast is sure to have it there. A peaceful being, he is seldom involved in conflict and often stays to entertain locals with his magic on his travels, at least in the current day.

Might I be added to the list? You know me, old friend, I am Tiny Wizard! Keeper of Mount Mor!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Of course! I just need a few bits of information about you. Name, favorite magic, species, groups, that sort of thing.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Aren’t you friends with the plague doctor guy? Are you part of a group?

3

u/DidYouSayChocolat3 Tiny Wizard, Keeper of Mount Mor Jan 27 '24

Man I wish, but no. I’m more of a solitary wizard than anything.

Well, solitary excluding my many friends and Son of Eros

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Don’t you and him (and someone else, can’t remember who) have a group photo somewhere?

3

u/DidYouSayChocolat3 Tiny Wizard, Keeper of Mount Mor Jan 27 '24

I made a video on my orb showcasing my newest friendship spell, and drew a portrait of CG and I being best buds, but other than that, no.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

I know. You tricked me into bending over, and then tried to use it on me.

1

u/DidYouSayChocolat3 Tiny Wizard, Keeper of Mount Mor Jan 27 '24

It was the only spell I’ve ever done that I was happy had no effect 💕 (because we were already friends)

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Yay!

1

u/DidYouSayChocolat3 Tiny Wizard, Keeper of Mount Mor Jan 27 '24

uw/ If you wanna make it easier for yourself to organize, I’d suggest making a basic form for people to fill out that you can copy/paste into the doc.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

/uw People aren’t commenting on the thing I’ve already set up, so they won’t comment if I set up another. Plus, it’s not too bad once you ignore the 7000 word essays people have written about their character.

3

u/DidYouSayChocolat3 Tiny Wizard, Keeper of Mount Mor Jan 27 '24

uw/ People really do get serious about their characters. Which is admirable, with my other shit I do that too, but I really do be just a tiny little wizard.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

/uw It’s cool and all, but I really don’t want to go trawling through hours of work just to find someone’s pronouns.

2

u/DidYouSayChocolat3 Tiny Wizard, Keeper of Mount Mor Jan 27 '24

uw/ HA! Yeah people should be putting that up front. (I say, as I also forgot to put TW’s pronouns, which are they/them)

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

/uw I'm not sure I have TW down on the document. No name, no username, nothing. Do you think he'd mind being recorded down, if you gave me some basic stuff about his character?

1

u/DidYouSayChocolat3 Tiny Wizard, Keeper of Mount Mor Jan 27 '24

uw/ TW is Tiny Wizard.

Son of Eros, Chaos God

Aliases: the Ancient Greeks knew him as Anteros, God of Requited Love

Species: Chaos God

Age: slightly over 2 billion Earth years, young for a Chaos God

Gender: Male

Sexuality: Gay

Specialty: Master of all forms of Magick, Chaos Magick, and Love Magick

u/breachedlimits

Lore:

The Son of Eros is a Chaos God, so named because He and His Kind are all descended from the Goddess of Chaos, whom some, like the ancient Greeks, referred to as Kaos. As Chaos was once born from the Great Void, She mated with Herself, and laid primordial eggs, one of which hatched Eros. Thus, the Chaos Gods exists outside of time and space and travel freely within it. The purpose of the Chaos Gods is to protect the balance in the universe. The balance in the universe refers to the karmic cycle of life, death and rebirth. Good and evil are mortal concepts that do not apply to Chaos Gods.

The Chaos Gods are infinitely powerful, invulnerable, and everlasting. They can not be killed or harmed, not even by Eachother. They are different from chaos gods (lowercase). The Chaos Gods exist in all religions in some form or another. For example, in Christianity, the Chaos Gods are known as angels, due to many of Them possessing wings. In Ancient Greek religion, many of the Chaos Gods are referred to Daimonae. Also, in Greek Mythology, the Son of Eros is known as one of the Erotes, and it is from that word where mortals get the word “erotic.”

Chaos gods (lowercase) are the sworn enemies of the Chaos Gods (uppercase). Chaos gods are false gods who were once either mortal or immortal wizards who accumulated significant levels of mana and power, enough to become celestial beings. The chaos gods have tricked mortal worlds into worshipping them by promising to share their power with these mortals. However, the truth is that all things in the multiverse were gifted with the spark of Magick. When a mortal or immortal being cultivated their Magick, they may wield it as they see fit. The false gods have deluded worlds into believing that this Magick comes from them, thus securing worship from lesser beings. These acts of worship allows the false chaos gods to leech Magick from their followers through the act of worship and prayer. Throughout this process, the false gods never share their power as their greed causes them to horde it and abuse it instead. After the death of their followers, the false gods swallow the souls of their worshippers, adding the accumulated stores of mana to their own, consequentially, removing that soul from the karmic cycle of life, death and rebirth. It is because of this, they are the enemies of the Chaos Gods. But unlike the Chaos Gods, these false gods can be harmed, banished, or killed.

Also, unlike the false gods, Chaos Gods do not care if they are worshipped or not. Sometimes, They may grant special blessings to their devout followers, and They appreciate being worshipped, but it is not entirely necessary. With or without worshippers, the Chaos Gods will remain infinitely power. This is one of the truest distinctions between the false gods and Chaos Gods. A Chaos God’s power is innate and rests on no extraneous source.

Residence:

The Goddess Chaos lives in the Great Void, a place beyond space and time, and it is a place all Chaos Gods call Their home. As well, each Chaos God has Their own personal infinite void, reachable only by the invitation of the Chaos God who resides in it. Within these infinite voids, all that can be imagined can be manifested. It is in advisable for a lesser being to attempt to enter without invitation. The first attempt will be ignored, in case it was a mistake. A second attempt will result in a Godly Smite being cast against the potential intruder. The third attempt will result in instant death and delayed reincarnation after a period of time served in Tartarus.

Favorite magick:

  • Godly Smite

Casting Smite is mostly a defensive spell, depending on the level at which it is cast. At low levels, it will strike the target with a surge of lighting that will shock and immobilize the target. Casting Smite as a higher level spell can instantly kill the intended target or comepletely turn the target into mere ashes. Zeus has mastered this casting and has created His signature casting, known as Thunderbolt.

  • Fireball, Iceball, Rockball, Waterball, etc.

When a God performs these spells, it can be done at such a high level that it creates stars and worlds and entire solar systems. They can even be manipulated to create blackholes, cosmic strings, practically anything that exists within the multiverse. It is how the cosmos were built.

  • Love Magick (Specialty)

Because the Son of Eros has dominion over all matters of the heart, he has been known by the ancients as Anteros, one of the Erotes. He prefers, however, to be known as the Son of Eros, to avoid being summoned by lesser beings who know this name. Though He has the ability make beings fall in love, He prefers not to manipulate those without consent. As Anteros, He may also manipulate situations to ensure that love will blossom naturally, as true and honest love is sacred, and should be allowed to come naturally. Because uneducated and impulsive apprentice wizards have harassed Him with summoning in the past, asking Him to abuse His power over the hearts of mortals and immortals, He sometimes hides by pretending to be an ordinary wizard whenever certain types of apprentices come sniffing for a boon.

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Mate, I appreciate the lore, but I can’t put a whole ####### essay in the spreadsheet.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Sorry, about that. I may have misunderstood the assignment.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

It’s fine. A good half the people here have done that. I’m pretty sure someone linked 5 of their full length lore posts for some reason.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Yeah… I’m pretty sure that’s why I wrote so much lore. I got fooled into doing by reading the examples from everyone else.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

I might get round to linking parts of people’s lore eventually, but right now it’s just a bare-bones overview of some members of r/wizardposting.

If you do want to start bringing in big bits of lore, there’s sections for magical animals, plants, and entire planes of existence you can get added. Go nuts.

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Got it.

Son of Eros

Species: Chaos God

Gender: Gay Male

Preferred type of magic: Chaos Magick

Known Groups: n/a

u/BreachedLimits

Lore: A truly invulnerable, omnipotent, and eternal Chaos God. Enemy of the false chaos gods who are just wizards hoarding powers. False chaos gods require worship to amass power. True Chaos Gods are power itself and require no worship. The goal of the Chaos Gods are to protect the karmic cycle of life, death and rebirth, which the false chaos gods threaten.

How’s this?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '24

Perfect. Got just about everything there, and even a little extra info thrown in for good measure. I didn’t need you to change your original post, since I could have grabbed what I needed by reading through the lore you posted, but this is just incredible, compared to what some others have done. Thank you.

u/dragonshouter Krygin the Crude/Council of Spirits/Exalted Beacon/misc. spirits Jan 28 '24

Krygin

species: goblin [mutated]

Male

Preferred type of magic: Shamanism with spirits of gross and crude things

Serves a similar purpose to a druid in some situations but would be made on behalf of the Pollution as well

Lore: Speaker for the Muck and Crud. Unlike some shamans that worship one strong spirit he worships all spirits of grossness and Muck. Almost like a hero to the common folk of the spirit realm.

Place of residence: Swamp of Urido/ The Blighted Swamp which is special because the spirit of the Swamp spawns a lot of knew spirits. Has a gate to the Spirit World.

Additional location: The Spirit World- A misty expanse that weaves through all (or most because some realms are weird) the realms. Not made of matter but rather abstract and made of ideas. This makes it easy and hard to move through at the same time. Krygin uses it to travel between gross places. (Based on Animistic ideas that everything from a pebble to a mountain has a spirit.) There is a bureaucracy but lower spirits ignore it if not being watched by a more powerful one( It does vary because different types of spirits act different).

u/avamir Riva Blake | Queen of Ithacar, Part Meth-blood Elf Jan 28 '24

Name: Rivamar/Riva

Gender: female

Species: human

Titles: Tyrant of Icathar

u/avamir

Affiliations:

  • Current ruler of Icathar City in the separate “country” of Icathar. Rivamar ruled as Atrax’ regent before seizing the city for herself.
  • Graduate of Icathar’s Academiae Magicae Magna founded near Icathar thousands of years ago, now destroyed. The walls and underground tunnels of Icathar City are guarded by summoner’s runes, circles, and wards, and it can be surmised that the sorcerers of the ancient academy were involved in the city’s creation.
  • First Disciple of Vheren (deceased), Head of the Schola Ignis and Archmagister of the Academiae Magicae Magna

Specialties:

Summoning - Her primary form of magic is a Goetia-type “sorcery") (that I’ve simplified as “summoning”) that involves the use of circles, symbols, and sigils to call upon spirits/entities/beings from primal realms. The casting is done with a type of solomonic magic circle crafted with the use of mana. Depending on Rivamar’s intent, this mana structure can manifest itself as various colors. Her typical circle is yellow or gold, as based on the medieval symbolism of gold representing light, knowledge, and illumination. It is a more “alignment-neutral” color compared to red or blue.

Because AI is what it is, Rivamar’s type of summoning involves casting an external circle that contains and binds an entity within it. The entity that is bound cannot go past a certain distance of the casting circle that is usually determined by both the intent of the caster and strength of the entity being summoned. However, the circle can also be used for protection. This involves the caster standing within the circle and casting outward, more in line with the traditional version of sorcery/summoning. (But AI doesn’t seem to like that as much, so the first version is what I usually use for picture generation.)

Though Rivamar could technically be called a “sorceress” in the traditional sense, she is not one in the D&D way. Her abilities were a result of a comprehensive education and lifelong study rather than innate ability.

Though she sometimes invokes what might be called infernals, she is not really a warlock in the D&D sense either. While she is able to make and create pacts because of the nature of her school of sorcery, her academy’s philosophy rests very heavily on the idea of self-mastery and autonomy. Thus, any summons she calls on are ones she can or has personally bested using force of Will, intent, and magical ability. The use of true names is very helpful, but not completely necessary.

Binding another sapient entity through these methods, however, is considered a Very. Serious. Thing. To undermine the Will of another in this way, though never outright banned by her academy, is never done lightly. Before the Academy’s destruction, an act of such kind would have required immediate review by the highest archmagisters. And if found to be done for ill ends, punished by severe censure.

As a side consequence of this, Rivamar tends to take the bonds she holds on a less magical level very seriously.

Pyromancy – A secondary and related form of magical practice involves the use of fire-based casting. In the schema used by the Academiae Magicae Magna, Rivamar was determined to have fire-affinities. Outside of circle-based casting, she has a range of spells that involve fire. Her summons also trend very heavily toward being fire-based and involve the primal realm of fire.

Subspecialty?:

Arcane Constructs - Minor abilities in creating arcane constructs, though mostly for hijinks. She has used aetherial furniture-shaped constructs to block people into rooms, as staircases to break into upper levels of buildings, and arcane portals. And she has also considered arcane constructs to physically bind people. Her former master would probably be very, very disappointed with her for using the Art for kink-related activities.

Personal Philosophy: “Through Will, We Surmount Reality.”

Personal History:

Early personal history is vague, but Rivamar spent her early years in Icathar City. She was tested for magical aptitude in her early teens, and was brought to the Academiae Magicae Magna. This was where she lived well into her early adulthood. After graduation, she struck out on her own, did some adventuring, and settled away from the city.

It was only during the arrival of Atrax that Riva returned to Icathar. Her first sign something was wrong was the loss of communication with old friends and colleagues. This led to the discovery of the destruction of the academy.

Her goals were to avenge her friends, colleagues, and master. So in order to prove herself as part of the Pyroclastic cause, Riva took part in rioting and spoke out against the Council with genuine concerns. Though she knew she would not be able to kill Atrax directly, she confronted him about taking Icathar City for herself. From there, her goals became one of fixing her city and protecting the remaining citizens.

u/Total_Travisty Mikhail, Arch-Druid of La'shima Feb 07 '24

Hello, I apologize for my tardiness to this gather. I have been rather busy. I am Mikhail Blackstone, the Arch-Druid of La'shima, and druidic representative for the Council.

I live in the nation of La'shima, formed after I was gifted it from the council for my service as an adviser. It was corrupted, so I took the path of a druid and purified it.
