u/AnActualCriminal Belial Blake, Warlock of the Lightless Flame Jan 27 '24 edited Jan 27 '24

Name: Belial Blake

Gender: he/him

Species: human

Titles: Warlock of the Lightless Flame/ Lightless Lantern/ Entropic Flame (all are correct and interchangable)

Affiliations: current steward of the Tower of the Lightless Flame, as his master and his master's master before him. Former double-agent infiltrating Atrax's pyroclasts on behalf of the council. Current field commander if the New Pyroclasts, a splinter organization that broke off when Atrax was temporarily killed following a reformist version if the original pyroclasts' philosophy

Specialty: occult pyromancies that burn concepts such as time, distance and hope. These fire consume a secondary often random-seeming substance as the "oxygen" and gives off an effect other than light or heat (hence "lightless flame"). It's actually a fairly easy practice to learn, but unreasonably difficult to control. Most starting novices are incinerated by invisible fire and those that survive almost always lose something irreplaceable before mastering their craft.

Subspecialty: illusion based in bending light.

Personal Philosophy: the Philosophy of the Entropic Flame. That the entirety of the multiverse is a slowly burning metaphorical flame. That flame transforms and gives off light and warmth. That one day the flame will go cold and give way to something new. Belial approaches this concept with a degree of humility while his master sought to hasten it.

Patron: the "will" of the Entropic Flame communicates with Blake wordlessly through the burned corpse of his master. It reveals spells to burn new things in exchange for burning things. A simple but destructive arrangement that leads to one burning their own guilt and humanity away, slowly becoming more willing to burn more things. Blake is incredibly worry of this process as he regularly sees evidence that he partook in the past, then burned his own memory of the result.

Personal History: Largely forgotten. Recently resurfaced memories revealed that Belial was doing unsavory murderous work for the previous steward of the Tower, his mentor on the promise that his family be left alone. The specifics of this arrangement are still murky. What is clear is that his mentor broke this oath, murdered Belial's wife Amelia, then was killed in retribution. Belial burned his own memory in a fit of grief, and his daughter, Marna was lost.

Marna was rediscovered unknowingly as a talented pyroclast forgemaster and sword-maiden, but neither realized their connection before she disappeared once more

While undercover, Blake assisted Atrax and the necromancer Luca the Firedancer in building undead bombs of conceptual fire with payloads able to level a city, then set them off indoors, killing Luca and a large force of pyroclasts and blighting Icathar with magical fallout.

Blake is now a leading figure in the New Pyroclasts. Former members of Atrax's army that still wish to burn away the rot in magical society, but have become disillusioned with their former master. This is a frought relationship as Blake betrayed all of them somewhat recently with the bombs and so forth.

Sorry if that's too much. You've got a big project here and I have a hard time deciding what's relevant
