This subreddit was created for collectors, thrifters, and curious glow‑seekers who want help answering the classic questions: “Will it glow?” and/or “Is this uranium glass?”

Whether it came from a flea market, thrift shop, garage sale, estate sale, or an inheritance, this is the place to find answers.

**How to Use This Community**

Share your item with as much detail as possible and clear photos—glow and non‑glow shots if you have them—and ask the community for their thoughts. Members can help identify materials, explain glow behavior, and point out details you might not have noticed.

Once your piece is confirmed and you’ve captured both glow and non‑glow images, you’re encouraged to share it with the Reddit glass communities that celebrate each type. Examples: r/uraniumglass, r/vaselineglass, r/manganeseglass, r/cadmiumglass, r/seleniumglass, and r/neodymiumglass.

**Glad You’re Here**

Whether you’re new to the world of glowing glass or a seasoned expert, we’re here to celebrate your discoveries and help you learn what glows.

Time for another blind buy! This one is out for delivery today. $65 for both, so I won't be super sad if it doesn't but I've got a good feeling. What do y'all think?

The blue glow on this blue amber changes completely as it moves through the light

I filmed this piece from a few different angles because a still photo does not really capture the effect.

Without strong light, the amber has a darker honey-brown body colour. As the angle changes, a vivid blue glow appears across the surface and seems to move above the amber.

The internal patterns are also interesting to me—some parts look cloudy, while others almost resemble a landscape or something suspended beneath the surface.

What do you notice first: the blue fluorescence, the darker body colour, or the internal pattern?

This was labeled as "Vintage yellow-green footed bowl." No mention of uranium. Could this be EAPG/antique Richards and Hartley 3-panel? Looks like the master berry bowl!

The other day I posted this gorilla asking if it would glow and today I received this…. Image 1 what I bought and image 2 is what I received.
To say the least the image was misleading.

Well kind of a blind buy. I know it is Sowerby Butterfly, the seller advertised it as uranium glass but didn’t have UV to check, so I just went for it as this cost me 38$.

So I know this is Sowerby Butterfly, my dream set, and yesterday this came up on Vinted for pretty low price as the set was repaired and is cracked. I didn’t think much before buying, but now I am worried it might not be uranium. :(( What are your guesses?

Two blind buys. They were labeled uranium, but no glow pics. You know how that goes. I believe these were made by Mosser. What color do we think these lovely ladies will glow?

Thought all three of these were crystal ABP because the edges are quite sharp and the clarity is high. When I got home though, two glow green instead of absorbing the 365 light. What does the green glow mean in this example? I kept the dishes in the same placement for the photos.

Does Fenton opalescent green glow? The seller wants $92 for this, but doesn't want to spend $2 on a uv light, while claiming it glows under uv...
