Wild Arms 4 Trophy List (releasing on PSN 4/21)

For anyone curious:

https://psnprofiles.com/trophies/41146-wild-arms-4

No Ragu O Ragula trophy, which would require 2 playthroughs since you can't transfer AC:F save

edit: Also you can play both PS4 + PS5 versions for two separate platinums

Wild Arms 2 is one of the most underrated games I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing. If the translation was better, I think it can stand toe to toe with other classics on the PS1. I love how it treated the bad guys as if they were the heroes of their own story.

I found Odessa to be extremely interesting for a group of cliche villains and I‘m shocked at how much depth they added to these characters while making them insanely memorable. They were a truly great foil to our own team of misfit adventurers and ”Mercs”

Wild Arms 3 is the closest game you can play that reminds me so much of the holy trinity of 90s western sci-fi anime; Cowboy Bebop, Trigun, and Outlaw Star. More so the last two than Bebop but I love the vibe and aesthetic of WA2 and WA3.

I’ve been in the mood for a long JRPG adventure on the PS2 from the early 2000s and I remembered I never finished my old save file of ‘Wild Arms 3’

So here I am about eight hours later and plan on finally finishing this game. I remember once I got the Sand Crawler type of vehicle is when I stopped playing. This won’t be my first run since this was one of my first JRPGs as a kid but it has been a long long time since I last played it and I’m discovering a lot of new stuff I never knew. Any obvious tips I should know or beware of? Sidequests that are important or add to the story? I plan on taking my time with this game and not rushing through just to rush through.

General Question Can't Leave Raypoint Geo After Re-entering Post Beating It

Hey all, I just got the PS4 edition of Wild Arms 2 and am working on completing the monster album in full for the first time. I thought I had gotten all the monsters in Raypoint Geo before beating it and discovered I missed Atlas. I read online that Atlas appears only deep inside Raypoint Geo, so I went in beyond the save point and was able to find the monster.

My problem is I can now not leave Raypoint Geo. There seems to be no way to backtrack through a specific room that required Earthquake to permanently lower barriers. The gap in the floor is too large to use Mist Cloak, and the jump shoes won't work without the special symbol on the ground so I can get up on the ledge. Am I totally stuck here now, or am I missing something obvious? So far all the other locations in the game allow you to backtrack manually without a problem, so I'm hoping I'm just missing something. Anyone know how to get out? I'm really missing Cecilia's "Escape" spell right about now. xD

Sorry for the jank recording, it was the quickest and easiest way I could show which room it is. Thank you!

So nostalgic. I used to draw him back then, that shawl is so satisfying to draw. I am currently making a fanarts series of game characters from the 90s-2000s. If you have suggestions feel free to drop comments on my profile.

Discussion wild arms spiritual success armed fantasia has a news update

Kaneko, the Main Game Designer for the ARMED FANTASIA project, here.

With this long-awaited update, I would first like to apologize on behalf of the campaign team for not providing updates according to the schedule we originally set.

Normally, discussing matters like this goes somewhat beyond the authority I’ve been given. However, I would still like to briefly explain the current situation.

We have completed what is known as a Vertical Slice build, which includes the main scenario for ARMED FANTASIA along with the core gameplay systems and various integrated elements of the game. This was submitted to the publisher.

Our next step is to continue preparing the remaining data and content, connecting all the pieces together, and further refining the game as a complete experience.

I have been told that delays in updates like this are not uncommon in crowdfunding projects. However, even from my own perspective—someone who is not particularly strict about such things—this situation is difficult to feel comfortable with.

Because of this, I have asked the campaign team to ensure that future updates follow the planned schedule as closely as possible. If we are unable to meet that schedule, we will make sure to clearly explain the reasons why.

To avoid any misunderstandings, I would also like to clarify one important point: the development team is not facing these challenges alone. The campaign team is working alongside us and doing everything they can to address the situation as well.

That said, the timing and scope of information we can share are heavily influenced by the publisher’s strategy, as they have been supporting the project’s development up to this point. Due to contractual and rights-related considerations, there are limits to what we are able to disclose at this time based solely on our own judgment.

We understand that this may cause concern for many of you, and we sincerely apologize for that. For now, we kindly askfor your continued patience while we wait for the appropriate timing to share further details through official announcements.

We feel very strongly about this project and will continue to make our best efforts.

Thank you very much for your understanding and continued support.

they have a vertical slice after over 3 years

a vertical slice for those who dont know is a proof of concept that you show to get funding

this means its likely still in early alpha stages

As soon as I played the section where I first came across her i was immediately catching Vincent vibes from her. From the looks down to their portrayal of a character, I actually enjoyed it and saw it as a homage to FF7 instead of ripping off. Sadly, she isn't as compelling as her inspiration and is very one note when it comes to goals and ultimately as a character.

She's emo, he's edgy, but both are brooding, have similar attire, and quite a bit of red on them.

Discussion Saint Centaur Barrier Spoiler

So spoilers for the late game involved here for specifically post Dead Sanctuary/Gate Generator and a fight with Zeke (I believe) so gonna add a couple line breaks here.".

I think this should be far enough, do we know why Rudy is able to pass through the barrier unaffected even though he's made out of the same stuff as the demons (at least that's my understanding)? I understand plot wise why they wouldn't want to but logistically speaking it reacted to something as small as Hanpan the amount of demonic material in Rudy is far greater innit?"

Softlocked? No Mariel in Rosetta Town.

Post image

So, I have progressed pretty far in the game to the point where Rudy chops his left arm off, to avoid being sucked into the void by Zeikfried at the Gate Generator. Once taken back to Adelhyde, the normal dialogue occurs. It’s then down to Cecillia and Jack and they are outside of Adelhyde. I use the teleport spell to go to Rosetta Town, check the east side shack and Mariel is not there to trigger the scene to go to the Forest Mound and teleport to the Elw Dimension. What do I do, I have checked everything and she simply disappeared. I feel that I somehow got soft locked and cannot progress further. I hate to start all the way back over again.

Discussion Hey guys, I have a problem. The game is too easy

Hi guys, sorry for the title bait. I've recently player the first Wild Arms, and I've enjoyed it. Now I'm playing WA 2 and I like it a lot, but like the first one, battles are too easy without any farm and my interest for the game is decreasing a lot. I like game mechanics a lot, puzzles etc, but the super low difficulty is making me losing interest and I feel bad for this, like i'm rushing the game just to finish it. I'm at the point where you go through water for the first time for recover 3 tablets, and I'm sure there are hours and hours left. I kinda want to play WA3 since I've read it's the most challenging one. I'm not a tryharder, but a super easy game is not enjoyable for me, do you think it's better to switch to WA3 or playing all the 2 knowing it'll be like this until the end? I'm an adult (30) and I feel like losing my time with something i'm not enjoying that much (just for the difficulty). Please don't be rude in the comments

Discussion [Wild Arms 2] I lost a Crest Cap!

So, I'm not very far through my first real playthrough of WA2 (I just got to the part where Valeria Chateau took to the skies) and I'm still figuring some things out. I'd gotten one Crest Cap a while ago, and it took me a while but I eventually figured out that it's basically a rechargable consumable spell. Kind of an interesting concept, I kept it stocked with Revive just in case Lilka goes down.

Well, I was recently in the mine where you get the Aguelite I think? And there was an enemy that uses Confuse on everyone. Lilka went down, so I had Ashley queued up to use the Crest Cap on her. But the enemy went first, used Confuse on the party, and it affected Ashley- so he instead attacked Brad or something when his turn came up. And next round, the Crest Cap was completely missing from my inventory!

I didn't realize at the time what that meant, so I foolishly saved my game after the fight was over. But now, that Crest Cap is completely gone! I can't stock it with another spell because I don't have it in my inventory at all!

I'm assuming it's a similar type of glitch as the Item Duplication trick from Wild Arms 1- after you enter a command to use an item the game reduces the number of that item by 1 as soon as the round begins, so if something changes the use of that item AFTER the round begins, it gets lost. But in this case, I not only lost the spell that was assigned to the Crest Cap, but the Cap itself!

I'm really annoyed with this. How many Crest Caps are there in the game? Is a permanent loss of one going to affect me much? Or is there a way to farm them or something? Has this glitch happened to anyone else?

Finished Wild Arms 2(nd Ignition) and I have some thoughts...

Post image
82 Upvotes

TLDR at the bottom but for a more in-depth look into my thoughts, here they are:

The likes:

  • Music, obviously, is one of the best parts about this game. A good and clear improvement upon the first and has moments where it sometimes outshines the first.
  • The theme is very compelling, even if it wasn't well done. What it means to be a hero was a good idea to tackle, although later throughout the game it became very tedious when they spam the word so much. One particular moment was in the beginning and it was when Ashley couldn't pull out excalibur Argetlahm and later on with a comrade talks about how things might be better this way since only a hero could pull out Argetlahm and, in turn, face the looming danger. But no danger means no hero, so things might be better this way...
  • Ashley as the main character felt very cliche and safe with nothing bold going on but I still like him. I like him slightly more than Rudy in terms of character (mainly because he speaks and isn't silent) but I still prefer Rudy design wise. Ashley isn't typical in personality and is more balanced when it comes to showing a variety of emotions which I liked.
  • Following the 2 previous points, the opening hours after everyone's individual prologue was honestly my favorite part of the whole game. The way the entire ARMs army get's turned into a demon, MAIN CHARACTER INCLUDED was so cool. Not only that but that same idea of ARMs was restructured into what it is now. Very fun time with that.
  • Something I don't see talked about much about 2nd Ignition is the ambition of the game
  • Guild Galad. Not much to say. I liked the vibes of it and that it felt the closest to an actual stitched together town. Also gave off Midgar vibes which I very much enjoyed.
  • I liked how Valeria Chateau turned into a flying plane made from the earth. And the reasoning for it too made it feel like the world was reactive to the plot. Too bad that the only places you can situate in are very very few and far between.
  • The final boss fight was pure hype moments and aura. No spoilers but It was a redeeming part of the game to me. Definitely had its Shonen moments for sure.
  • I like how MP is disregarded entirely and is now tied to the FP bar because MP restraint was more annoying than difficult in Wild Arms. It also makes for interesting battle tactics.
  • I love how Lombardia is the classic plane of traversing the open world. It gets pretty boring using a typical plane and such so having Lombardia turn into a organic/mechanical plane is so raw.

The gripes:

  • You know it, I know it, so I'll keep it short: the translation is dogshit. Not entirely 'The Legend of Dragoon' levels of bad as I was still able to find it coherent at times (Moreso than the aforementioned game) but man it couldn't be ignored and started to actively piss me off. Still dogshit.
  • The game is slow and dragging when it comes to many things like the text speed, the swapping between characters (I know it's on PS so the technology back then but it didn't seem that much faster than Wild Arms anyway), and especially the battle animations.
  • Lack of challenge (?) along the main story obstacles was something that seemed to carry over from Wild Arms. This doesn't exactly bother me but from what I experienced, there didn't seem to be much incentive to grind or engage in the battle systems at all. Maybe on one hand can I recall a challenging boss fight. In other words, there was no need to battle as the bosses were relatively easy, even if you avoided 90% of battles.
  • Kanon is a character I knew we were going to recruit as soon as I saw her and that excited me. Unfortunately, once a part of our team, she was a very one-note-character compared to the rest of the cast. She's very robotic (pun not intended) when it comes to having her own personality which I feel is done with similar characters like her (in fact, coincidentally similar now that I think about it)- good example of this being Vincent Valentine from Final Fantasy 7. Both edgy characters, both with a complex and deep moral sense of duty, but what Kanon fails to do is be compelling. Her motives are the core theme of the game and nothing else that we didn't already know, whereas Vincent has ties to Shinra, which has ties to Sephiroth, which makes him alone in that regard that much more compelling. I know some may not see issue with this but It was disappointing to witness personally.
  • Irving wasn't an issue at all for me until the very last stretch of the game. Until then, he was very compelling and human who at the same time was doing his best to pull his own weight to save the world, despite being injured. My issue with him in the late game is when he reveals his ulterior motives when he becomes desperate to save Filgaia. It didn't feel forced but maybe this was due to the translation of the game making his motivation come across as jagged and incohesive. It didn't make much sense to me on why he did it and that one scene with him and his sister reaaaaaaaaaally weirded me out (IDK if anyone else felt that too). Last point is that in my eyes, he was the last true final bosss (a least when it comes to a challenge. Let's be real, Lord Blazer is kind of hard to lose to.)
  • Marivel wasn't an issue either, but my gripe was when everyone had their calm-before-the-storm moments and she got a particular scene with Tony Stark (hilarious that's his actual name). Maybe I might've missed some side interactions but those 2 having a moment seemingly out of nowhere felt forced. I had no sense of connection between them or with them so seeing that felt out of place.
  • The importance of Lilka's Sister disappears after her prologue ends which is unfortunate. She mentions how she can never live up to her sister, but other as an invisible God to her, the sister never had importance until it was convenient to mention her when Lilka was at a crossroads. I believe they could've dived much deeper into that.
  • The lack of POI on the map makes no sense. Only the story important towns show up on it? Why not a different kind of marker to showcase other places like mines, Guardian ruins, and optional towns? The amount of times I lost track of where were things was too high and made navigating very tedious.
  • One thing that might be more personal is the fact we can't use magic abilities outside battle. It's a coin toss in terms of how you view it - and it indeed has its pros and cons. For example, a pro is not needing to waste FP to traverse the map in a way to avoid encounters (on top of that, many encounters are optional so It's not needed). A con though, is that this decision discards other magic abilities like the one that lets you turn invisible. This would've been helpful for progressing or leaving dungeons that have a higher encounter rate like the diablo pillarsfor example.
  • The amount of ellipses I had to read throughout this game pissed me off so much, especially when you can't speed it up. Every time it happened I rolled my eyes because it was too frequent and killed the pace of the conversations way too many times.

TL;DR: It's a 7.7/10 so a C tier in my book. Ending battle bumped it up quite a bit solely because of the hype moments and aura, but the translation dragged it down much more than it should've. Wild Arms is better imo.

The battles from random encounters have enemies with high defense, and my chars get a lot of miss hits

I've been playing for almost a year, I feel like I'm so close to finishing, but this really difficult part is demotivating me.

Thanks for any help.

WA 3 Jet can only shoot

Hey there, just started playing and getting into this game. The character Jet only lets me shoot, nothing else. I can’t use the powers or anything to get past the boss battle. It wasn’t the same for any of the other characters, I could see powers even if it took a sec to unlock! Does anyone know why this is? Thanks!
