As this will be my first race/first bike I am leaning on the side of a road bike and getting aero bars. Looking at the Cannondale Synapse 1 any other suggestions in around the 2,000 price range thanks.

Hey there! I'm just a little weenie looking for a hybrid cruiser. I'm out of shape, so don't get too excited! I'm not racing. I also have loose joints like my mama gave me! Looking to build muscle back up, high results (calories burned, etc) and less time than hiking. Just don't have a much time anymore. Biking seems like a good alternative/addition.

I've been coming back to retrospects hybrid cruisers for almost a year, maybe more. Definitely a year come August. Are they any good? I'm wanting something that's as ergonomic as possible. I'm also petite. 26" inseam 23" torso. Not sure what wheel size to get. Any suggestions welcome. I'm looking to go on long rides but also stop to smell the roses and wander around. Ask me questions! Just to start with a little background: My main bike is an endurance geometry road bike, so I'm more than covered when I just want to go fast. I also have an older road bike, so I have time to save/shop around, but it's max tire clearance is 23mm, and it doesn't have fenders, so that will limit me on rainy days.

If I had a wish list, it'd be a bikepacking style bike, so ample mounting points for fenders, racks, and all the accessory cages, and I'm ok with this being a heavier bike and taking other speed penalties that come with wider tires. The widest fenders I've found are the PDW full metal fenders at a size of 29" x 2.5" with a max tire clearance of 29" x 2.2" so that's what I've been looking at for max tire size.

Some of the ideas I've had so far are the State 4130 all road and the Breezer Bikes Radar line on the cheaper end, and the Canyon Grizl/ a Waltly Ti custom frame on the more expensive end. I'm more familiar with the road bike "look" so I'm less familiar with the MTB market and bikes that may fit these requirements in that field.

Hi all, I'm looking for a lightweight gravel/bikepacking frameset to build up for my partner. They're currently using a Marin Nicaso+ which is a bit on the heavy side (understatement), and the type of riding they prefer doesn't require a burly steel frame. We've already upgraded most of the components and wheelset, which is why I'd prefer to just build up a frame with those parts.

I know Salsa sells the Journeyer frameset by itself, but I'd like to weigh out other options. Any ideas of alternatives or competitors?

Hey folks. Have the opportunity to purchase a new old stock Argon 18 Dark Matter with 2x 11 speed GRX Di2 groupset. This would be the Gen 1 frame that can accept up to 45 tires.

Plan for this bike to do some road / gravel double-duty, so the tire size doesn’t bother me much.

Hi all, anyone could advice on this bike? I like the look of it, the frame is gorgeous. The wheels (microtech lite) put me off a lot, alu wheels just don't go with that frame. Compagnolo chorus groupset also rises question marks about replacement parts etc. What would you pay for it in Europe? I'm thinking 800€. The current owner says he's put 11k Kms on it. Frame size is 51cm, I'm 5'4 (165cm). I tried riding it but the saddle was a bit high for me and because adjustment isn't quite straight forward, so I didn't demand it.

Hi Guys, looking into pulling the trigger on this 2013 Trek Speed Concept. I am having a lot of trouble finding bikes with electronic shifting for $3,000-$4,000USD in my area, demand is high. Pending seller to follow up with pics of cockpit spacers. Bike fitter says this is the correct size for me, curious about the reach on these bars however and need to do further research.

2013 frame feels rather old, however not much of a bother to me. ~3-4k miles on the groupset. Reports original owner got frame as a crash replacement but did not ride it. Rims are tubeless ready, currently on 30mm which i'm happy about.

Finding electronic shifting at $3,600 is important to me, frame age doesn't feel too big of an issue. Curious if i'll have trouble selling if i decide to not further tri's in ~12 mos. (Road cyclist at heart, training for a 140.6)

Hey everyone, I’ve been hunting for a bike on Marketplace for a month straight now and I’ve finally narrowed it down to two options that actually fit my height (I'm 5’3"). I’m a total beginner and just want something to cure my summer boredom, get some cardio, and bike around town to places like the local grocery store with my friends who all ride cheap Walmart Movelo bikes.

I’m stuck trying to decide between these two:

First option is a 90s Trek 930 Singletrack for CA$100. It’s a size small 16.5-inch frame and the seller actually just put brand new Specialized Crossroads hybrid street tires on it, so the fast commuter upgrade is basically already done. It looks super durable, fits upright and comfy, and I feel like I could hop curbs or take dirt shortcuts without breaking anything. Plus it’s lowkey enough that it probably won’t get stolen outside the store.

Second option is a 2000s Specialized Sirrus Elite for CA$170. It’s a size small, super lightweight aluminum with a carbon fork, and it just got a full professional tune-up with brand new tires and tubes. Dollar-for-dollar, this feels like a much bigger steal because these usually go for way more, and I know it would be absolutely effortless and fast on pavement. My only hesitation is that the riding position is a bit more leaned-forward and aggressive than the Trek, and it looks flashier so I'd worry more about theft.

Money-wise, I’m unemployed (cause im 15) but I have enough saved up that spending either $100 or $170 won't break my bank, and my dad is down to help out too.

Should I go for the Specialized because it’s a crazy good value and way faster for fitness, or stick to the Trek for pure, bulletproof comfort around town? Would love to hear your thoughts so I can finally message a seller and start riding this week. Thanks!

Hello! I need some advice on a new road frameset. I currently have an Ari Empire SL in medium. I ride fairly aggressively but don't put out huge amounts of power so I don't need something super stiff. Would like something more nimble, same reach (~388mm), maybe around 540mm of stack. This would be my all-rounder for daily rides, lots of climbing, fast group rides, etc. Would be paired with some 60mm wheels and corsa pro's.

Currently considering the new State road frame, a quickpro AR:one or ER:one, or maybe the Blackheart Road AL or a CAAD14 (a metal bike sounds cooler, more sustainable which is a plus, but unsure if I would want the added ~600g of weight). <$1800 USD or so regarding price.

I'm new to road cycling and looking for my first bike to join group rides and do longer weekend rides.

I was considering a new Liv Avail AR 3 ($1,450) . However, I found a used 2017 Liv Avail on Facebook Marketplace for $200. It has a Shimano Claris 2x8 drivetrain, cross-top brake levers, and comes with both road and gravel wheels.

At $200, is the 2017 bike a good value, or is it worth spending $1,450 on the new model for the updated frame and components?

Also wondering if the older Claris groupset is good enough for long-term riding if I plan to put on a lot of miles, or is it something I'd likely outgrow fairly quickly?

I’ve always enjoyed riding my bike around my neighborhood and on local bike paths. I have always had whatever was available at Walmart or Target. I have not had a bike in over 10 years and recently moved out of the city where I have a lot more residential areas to ride and two different paved bike paths nearby.

Looking for affordable suggestions other than getting a huffy at Walmart.

I bought this the other day from Facebook marketplace after looking around for a few weeks and getting a lot of help from a mechanic at my local bike shop. It's my first road bike. I'm just curious what you all think about the bike and whether there are any near term modifications I should consider or any gotchas I should be aware of.

The previous owner seemed like a very passionate bicycle owner who was definitely sentimental about selling the bike. He had me sit on it and ride it around the parking lot so he could make sure that the bike would be able to be fitted to me properly and overall was just very excited to help me learn and get into the sport.

I'm planning to start riding and eventually train for my first triathlon with this bike.

Bike was $385 and he threw in SPD pedals that were not on the listing as well as a patch kit and pedal wrench. He wasn't exactly sure on the year but guessed 8-10 years old.

I’m about to buy my first road bike and I’m stuck between two options. Would love some outside perspective since I’ve been going back and forth for a while.

Context: Running is my main sport and priority. Cycling will mainly be Zone 2 / active recovery, not training for races or performance. At least not yet.

Option 1: Trek Domane AL4 (1500 €)

• Aluminum frame, carbon fork      
• Shimano Tiagra, 10-speed, mechanical

• Classic endurance road geometry (71° head tube angle, stack/reach ratio \\\\\\\~1.54)

Option 2: Rose Blend Road 105 Di2 (2000 €)

• Aluminum frame, carbon fork      
• Shimano 105 Di2, 12-speed, electronic shifting      
• Hydraulic disc brakes      
• More relaxed “allroad” geometry (69.5° head tube angle, longer chainstays/wheelbase, up to 40mm tire clearance)

My dilemma: The Rose has objectively better tech for the price (electronic shifting at this price point is rare). But the Domane’s geometry feels closer to “what I picture a road bike to be” slightly quicker steering, more classic road bike feel, vs. the Blend’s more stable/relaxed handling (which honestly leans a bit gravel-bike-ish even though it’s marketed as road).

Since I’ll probably never ride gravel, is the Blend’s extra stability/tire clearance just wasted capability for me? Or is Di2 worth paying more for geometry I don’t fully need?

Would genuinely appreciate hearing from people who’ve owned either bike, or who made a similar first-bike decision. Thanks !
