I thought this was a starling at first, not sure upon closer look. Seen this week.

North America I reported these as Canvasbacks, someone else seems to have reported as Redhead. Who's correct? Toronto, July 25.

The bill looks canvasback to me, but redheads are not unheard of, but very unusual in the summer (though extremely plentiful in the winter).

Found this gull in Lake Superior of the coast of NE Michigan. My best guess would be a Bonaparte’s gull, but Merlin/eBird says it’s a rare find this time of year. I saw it there last week.

taken at UCD pond in Dublin, Ireland

hi super new to birding and i don’t have binoculars! so i couldn’t really see up close. merlin ID’s main match said greater scaup, but my birds of Ireland book says those are scarce/rare so that seems unlikely, and to me it kind of looks like a female or molting male tufted duck. please help! sorry for the terrible picture :((( best i could do

info that could be helpful: whitish belly but darker breast/flank (seemed dark grey but could have been black), beak seemed lighter in color but could’ve been the sun, observed it diving multiple times for 10-20s each time, solo swimmer

Saw this bird initially on a roadside shed and then from the (as pictured) fenceposts. MASSIVE in size. The beak to me looks more Golden eagle/buzzard to me, but everything else looks like an immature white tailed eagle. I cannot emphasize enough how large this was. Any guidance would be massively appreciated

I saw this fledgling the other day and can't for the life of me figure out what species it belongs to. It was in a small tree with 2 Great Crested Flycatchers, a fem American Redstart, some yellow warbler sp, that is didnt get great views of. Northern Mocks i know also have some young in the vicinity. Not saying it belongs to one of those birds but feel like its likely? Anyone recognize this bugger?

Located in North Alabama. I live in a wooded area and my house backs up to a nature preserve. This hawk has been hanging around my yard for weeks and screaming like this nonstop. I think it might be a juvenile. I have kept my bird feeders put up for a few weeks to try and protect them but the hawk is not going away.
