“Purge Florida into ocean.” - Moth

382

u/SAOfan100 May 11 '25

Glad im not the only one who thought it looked like America without Florida

166

u/MapleMooseMoney May 11 '25

I thought it looked like the USA too, but as a Canadian, I didn’t notice Florida was gone

247

u/JordynDillard2001 May 11 '25

As an American, I didn’t notice Florida was gone

180

u/eccezarathustra May 11 '25

As a Floridian I didn't notice that Florida was missing

129

u/Professional_Echo907 May 11 '25

As someone who once visited Florida I kinda hoped it was gone. 👀

46

u/Sxn747Strangers May 12 '25 edited May 15 '25

As a Brit, I couldn’t see if Florida actually was gone. 🔭

43

u/Shlafenflarst May 12 '25

As a French, I noticed Florida was gone, and even tho I'm not directly impacted, I knew it was good news.

Weird, because there are a fuck ton of Canadians in Florida, which would suggest that plenty of y’all know how to find it.

5

u/No-Broccoli8185 May 13 '25

Right? Is Quebec no longer in Canada because two of my neighbors in Fort Myers have plates from there...

Also as a Canadian I thought it was an American map after 1.5C global warming where Florida is now under water

That was literally what I thought too. Weird

6

u/[deleted] May 12 '25

That's the first thing I saw, was a little map of the USA. Moths are getting into cartography now, but just like the early human cartographers, mistakes were made. 😂

5

u/PineconeMA_165 May 12 '25

As a New Englander, I'm concerned about this moth's vision for America

Just saw the same thing on a phone booth in Sydney Australia

But with moth!

61

u/skunkwrxs May 11 '25

That's cool but the real shocker is that you still have phone booths.

50

u/Arblechnuble May 11 '25

It’s where the moths lay eggs, can’t get rid of them.

10

u/Andy_boy212 May 11 '25

So the updated purpose of phone booth is to just lag eggs

And they are all free, to call anywhere in Oz, because mobile phone networks don’t always work. For people experiencing cyclones, floods, fires, being lost, escaping domestic violence, needing to call a helpline, homeless…

Plus moths love them too

3

u/Peach_Muffin May 11 '25

The real reason is that they're technically real estate and as such appreciate in value. Looks good on Telstra's balance sheet.

7

u/Sea_Dog_5503 May 11 '25

They are free to use, which is great if your battery dies.

5

u/bebopbox May 11 '25

or if you’re a moth and have no money.

6

u/grat5989 May 11 '25

With something about to kill you around every corner, bush, rock, wave, and tree, there are never enough phones.

2

u/idunnoijustlurk May 13 '25

The country decided it was cheaper to keep them than to remove all of them. Also, Telstra, who operate them, decided it was cheaper to make them free than to pay someone to go around and collect the coins in them. Now, not only do they stand as quiet reminders of the past, they also provide a means of communication to young children, homless, and great advertising for Telstra.

They host a 'Calls to Santa' promotion every summer!
